Title: Summer Songs?
Post by: countvongroovy on July 31, 2003, 10:36:41 pm
Hey all, I'm trying to make a CD that has songs that sounds like summer.  Like, songs that are perfect for riding a convertible on a sunny day in the country-side, that kinds of summer, y'know what I'm talking about?  I was just wondering if anybody had any good songs, this is my list so far:
Justin Timberlake - Let's Take A Ride
Mariah Carey - Dreamlover
Christina Aguilera - Cruz
O-Town - We Fit Together
Janet Jackson - Someone To Call My Lover
LFO - Summer Girls

I'm sorry, but with the music list you have so far.... I think you are BEYOND my help.

If you wanted a REAL summer music list... try some GOOD songs... like..

Jason Mraz - The Remedy
Allman Brothers band - Ramblin Man
Don Henley - Boys of Summer
Pat McGee Band - Rebecca
John Mayer - Why Georgia Why
Jack Johnson - Rodeo Clowns
Nelly - Ride Wit Me
Grateful Dead - Touch of Grey
Howie Day - Buzzing
The Eagles - Take it Easy
Doobie Brothers - Black Water
Dave Matthews Band - Stay
John Melloncamp - Peaceful World

THAT is good mellow summer music for drivin around with the top down.

They overplayed that song around here.  I can't stand it anymore. Once they did a mime of it in a McDonalds comercial, i knew it had jumped the shark.

Soak Up The Sun? Personally i just can't stand that song. Oh and Andrew just because that list isn't your sort of music, does that make it wrong?Or in 'bad taste'? I don't think so.

My recommendations are:

Milky- Just the Way You Are
Jason Mraz-Curbside Prophet
Stevie Wonder- Isn't She Lovely?
TQ- Westside
Bryan Adams- Summer of '69 (well Neri's friend Nine played that SO loud in her car, and it sounded great despite the fact i think he's a wimp)
Misteeq-Roll On
Jaimeson- Complete
Jaimeson-True feat Angel Blu

Woah i adore Jaimeson, d/l some of their stuff- you won't have heard much like it.

Hmm...

Santana f/ Michelle Branch - Game of Love
Christina Aguilera - Come On Over
Jewel - Intuition
Samantha Mumba - Gotta Love You
Ashanti - Rock Wit U (Awww Baby)
Hoku - Another Dumb Blonde
Norah Jones - Don't Know Why
Sting - Desert Rose
Mandy Moore - Candy
Jessica Simpson - I Think I'm In Love With You
Good Charlotte - Boys and Girls
Tatu - Not Gonna Get Us
Kelly Clarkson - Miss Independent

Wow, I never thought I'd see some of those names on the same list. LOL, but that looks like a good mix!

I stand corrected.  It's "Why Georgia".  Thanks!

And Rosie... I have this theory about music.  There is "good" music and there is "bad" music.  It's a platonic thing.  World of Forms and all.  Then there is music you like and don't like.  the two have NOTHING to do with eachother.

See, I like a lot of "bad" music.  Such as TaTu, Michelle Branch, Bush etc.  And there is a lot of  "good" music that I don't particularly like.  Such as Phish, Radiohead, Cold play and the Beatles.

The music he listed may be enjoyable... but it is NOT "good" music.  And i fully support making fun of people who listen to bad music.  So anyone who wants to abuse me for owning the first TMNT soundtrack or TWO Kid and Play CD's is more than welcome

Oh i definetly do get your point, and i hate feeling awful for liking shite music!! (Especially crap spanish songs, Nerea will kill me!) I just don't like people feeling obliged to only state the music they feel will fulfil people's views of 'good music'.

Oh and summertime-what a SONG!!!When it gets hot here (which is about once every year, lol j/k) they always play that on Radio One- such a gooooood song and a legend here too.

No, it's scary cause I feel OLD now.  Because someone I am able to have an intelligent conversation with is too young to remember things I grew up with.

Wow, now I know how Jason feels
