Title: Virus Alert
Post by: Steveau on August 19, 2003, 03:18:35 pm: I recently received e-mails of a virus going around called W32/Sobig.f@MM. It has attachments with the file extensions .pif. I downloaded Stinger from the McAfee site to check my computer for it. Here's the link: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

Luckily it didn't get into my registry.

OMG!! thats not a virus thats aol!! It happens all the time!! when that happens and they ban your account call AOL and they'll give you a new password because they have virus'!!! But they won't tell you...you need to tell them and then they'll be like Ohh sorry. It happens to us all the time here.

I am sorry if you got one. I have no idea what it was sending but it was sending something, I didn't do it, I swear. Now my shit is dead. Sorry for the s word but I hate not having my pc!! To top it off my roomate has been trying to fix it for 5 hours now. :x

If you wanna remove the Stinger just find the Stinger.exe file on your computer and delete it. It doesn't get installed in your start menu. I'd suggest you keep it until the worm danger is over. That's what I'm doing. :)

I've found that even after I have deleted and emptyed the recycle bin sometimes things can still be on there...I don't know if it works with all computers...try going to the start menu and then "Find" and "Find Files or Folders" I was able to recover some stuff that way...
