Farm Aid Adds Eight Artists
 
Farm Aid 2003 has added eight new artists to its lineup: Vanessa Carlton, Hootie & the Blowfish, Emmylou Harris, Daniel Lanois, Los Lonely Boys, Aaron Brotherton, Titty Bingo and Billy Bob Thornton.

They join previously announced performers Sheryl Crow, Brooks & Dunn, Trick Pony and headliners Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews for the concert, which will be held Sept. 7 at Germain Amphitheater in Columbus, Ohio.

Ticket packages and memorabilia are currently up for auction on eBay.com, with proceeds benefiting the Farm Aid organization. For more information, visit Farmaid.org.

The annual concerts, organized by Farm Aid founders Nelson, Young and Mellencamp in 1985, have raised more than $24 million to assist and promote the U.S. family farm system.

EDIT:  It's sold out already.  bah.  See, this is what happens here in Ohio when something exciting happens... everybody wants to go see it so it gets sold out very quickly.

The bidding is over a hundred dollars now and I don't have that kind of money to throw around...   I bidded up to eighty bucks, but I can't afford to buy two tickets for more than that if I'm not even sure I can find somebody to go with.... Oh well. If anybody else has tickets and somebody in their group can't go, let me know and I'll buy the ticket from you.

I'll not pay over $80 per ticket, either. Right now the price is still over that for tix that are selling on eBay: $86 for 1, $166 for 2, $99 for one, all plus shipping. Lowest price from brokers is $135... I think I'll try for a larger group of tix on eBay, I figure that way the price per ticket will be lower, and the shipping is the same...

So, if I get some I'll let you guys know, and then if someone wants one we can work that out, I'd prefer to sell them cheaper to Nessaholics than to a fan of  :2guns: Willie Nelson or sumthin'...

And:  :arrow:  Then the thing to do would be to find someone with front row tix willing to let us use their seats for Vanessa!!! It wouldn't hurt to ask...  :mrgreen:

OK, I won 1 lawn ticket on eBay for $75 inc. shipping, not too shabby  8) . I'm waiting to hear from the seller. I figure there will be more tix for sale before the date of the show, and the prices may go lower??? There is one person with over 70 tix for $99 each....

Is anyone else planning on going to this show???? And if so, we hafta' figure a way to say Hello to Vanessa, I imagine she'll be hangin' with Neil Young, she seems a little :crazyeyes: infatuated with him.....

Wellllll.......... I have a microcassette recorder, so that'll be lo-fi, if I can get it in at all, I dropped my digital camera at the Pat Benatar show, and now the zoomy part dun't woik either....
All I really want is one of those  :wink:  "looks", you know what I mean.

aaaaagh, i LOVE Pat Benatar!!!!  You should be able to easily sneak your microcassette recorder in at a show like that though.  I've snuck in recording equipment (mic, battery pack and mp3 recorder) along with my digital camera at almost every show i've ever gone to and been patted down at most places :)

So c'mon, make it happen.  Maybe you should buy a better recorder prior to the show ;)

I have to say, that is the first time i've been addressed as "freakin' admin" ... hah :)

or in your undies - they cant pat you down in those places and when they search bags they barely even look in them - i had a camera and gameboy at the last show i went to and the guy didnt even notice anything but my wallet

Row 4??? Winds up that row D was the FIRST row... "I dunno', there ain't no A,B, or C buddy, and yes you are in the front row, I friggin' TOLD you they were good tickets!!!" So I spent last nite in the front row at the KISS and Aerosmith show, and Steve Tyler gave me a high-five, and Gene Simmons and my date were sticking their tongues out at each other... 20,000 freakin' people were there, and they were all BEHIND me...

But my ears should stop ringing by Sunday and I'll be in Columbus for Vanessa... Now I just gotta' get someone to let me sit in the front row THERE, at least for VC....

So I heard she's not gonna' be there, and that it was confirmed by her managers office and the press relations in Columbus, but you know how flaky some people are, they make up things when you ask a question, so I called the FarmAid info line 800 number today, and they said she would be there, for sure (yeah, right). So I figure that if I don't go Vanessa WILL be there, and if I do go, then she WON'T..... (weird how things work like that). So I'll prolly head down there in the afternoon tomorrow, and get to see Sheryl Crow and Neil Young, if not Vanessa..... I do have this ticket for it.

yeah, I would still go too. Sheryl Crow is very cool and true rock diva!! I remember at the Houston show (V was the first act, SC closed it) as soon as she was done she went from the stage into the limo. I was like, damn!!

I'm watching the webcast..., Sheryl and Dave Matthews were nice. The people who performed before them I had never heard of (Daniel Lanois, Emmy Lou Harris, Los Lonely Boys, Brooks and Dunn?). I'm glad I never had, because I didn't like any of them. When that Emmy woman came on, I went like: 'Howdy woman. Go back into yer barn!'
