What do you think about sex in songs. You know, songs that 12 year olds and 9 year olds, and anybody listens too, basically 50 Cent, Lil Kim, Snoop Dogg, Eminem (Sometimes), Mya
I think that is it WRONG! Not that sex is wrong, but just the constant singing about sex, for example.
Mya "My Love Is Like...Wo"
My love is like...wo
My kiss is like...wo
My touch is like...wo
My sex is like...wo
My ass is like...wo
My body's like...wo
And you're kissin' it
So what you think of it
What kind of sane person would want to listen to that? And I mean 50 Cent too:
50 Cent and Snoop Dogg "P.I.M.P"
A hour later, have that ass up in the Ramada
.......
I could care less how she perform when she in the bed
How bad will the world be when all music consists of that type things? I mean I don't see anything wrong with singing about love and such, but all that sex talk is not gonna do anyone good!
[Daniel]
I suppose that is why I like VC...

well...I think music should be about honesty and espression. And sex is potentially involved in lots of what must be expressed in our lives. But, seriously, these people express nothing but their sexual lives. Plus, they're not even writing their own songs predictably. I think it's perfectly fine for sex to be involved in what you have to say. But in the cases you mentioned and many many more, sex is the sole issue and is grossly over-exaggerated for the purpose of sales no doubt. These peoples lives do not revolve around sex to that extent.

Well you told them to 'FUCK off' in the first place! You can't blame 'em for obeying your wish!

Well I think the singers are intitled to sing what they want. Even though I don't like that kind of music. But this is what people like. It sells. If you don't want to sing from your heart and you want to make a fast buck why not write about sex and drugs.
Yoooooo dawg give me a notha joint and I'll fuck u up. isn't that interesting. I'm the next big thing in music. jk

GREAT song, and even better video..
lol you would hate my 3rd block, well you might like some of the people...but most of the time they play like rap songs on the radio...most of the people are punk-LP type (not actually sure if they like LP though lol...)
-
I don't mind it but I'll tell ya, I've not even heard those songs before that you quoted or whatever... But I'd probably turn them off because they're disgusting. Like, okay, so you're having sex, you love her, she loves you, your both driving each other wild... fine. Yippee and kudos for ya both. But I don't need to know whats going where and whos doing what and then also who decides to jump in on the act if ya get my drift...
But I'm not totally slamming it... I know I really like the song "Meeting in my Bedroom" by Silk. I like a lot of Silk... I think its mostly their voices though, and the blending they can definately pull off... Awesome group of talented guys...

GREAT song, and even better video..
yeah...I must say I do love the video..mostly cause shes a great dancer. I mean have you ever seen anyone else have a tap break in the middle of a pop video! its sweet. I want those yellow tap shoes!

I dont get the word "wo"...isn't it "whoa" or is "wo" just some new word shes made up
-
I completely prefer the spelling "wo" to "whoa" because to me, "whoa" looks like it should be pronounced "HOO-ah".

Wow. That's exactly what I was going to say (only probably not as well).
Ditto :)

Heroin sells, but that doesn't entitle people to make a fast buck off of it. I agree that they are entitled to sing about whatever they want, but I do think there should be some controls in place (beyond the jokeworthy explicit lyrics stickers) to help parents protect their kids and to promote artist responsibility.Sadly there will never be because sex makes too much money for the industry.

i kinda agree with ya daniel..i mean there is a song i didnt really like..
I got the magic clit
I know if I get licked once, I gettin' licked twice
I am the baddest chick
Shorty you don't believe me, then come with me tonight
And I'll show you magic -- WHAT! WHAT!
Magic, uh-huh, uh-huh, I've got the magic clit
Now look at this ...why does "clit" have to be a part of this song and i think "licked" is the keyword to sucess...who cares what you gonna lick tonight and how magical yer clit is.....if theyre trying to make it sound walt disney..they are doing it the wrong way by disrespecting women and such...thats so gross and i think they overdo it sometimes too...

Sex in songs . . .
Hmmm. There's a difference between singing or "rapping" about it, when it's meaningless sex. It's stupid. Or when rappers are talking about being "playas" and whatnot (I'm such a gangsta . . . no?). Do't get me wrong, I'm sure rappers and "R & B" artists are "singng" about not just one-night-stands, but there are other ways to say it besides "My sex is like . . . woah." They could atleast add some talent to it, like Third Eye Blind's line "In bed she flexes her knees, to try and abate the feeling. She mouths the word 'please' to the psoter on the ceiling . . ." I'm not saying that's the best way to talk about sex, but it's atleast got talent mixed in. Understood? Okay then.

hmm... I'm wondering what the hecksa she was DOING but I'll just...

You people can complain about the sex lyrics all you want, but you're obviously in the minority of the music buying population because songs with lots of sex talk consistintly dominate the charts.
Vanessa sings about sex plenty, just not as explicitly.
Besides, I think it's funny 90% of the time. And if it's offensive, then I dont listen to it. Plain and simple.
Which is what you should do, so i dont understand why you would want to whine about it...... CHANGE THE F'IN STATION.

I don't think it's just a simple matter of personal offence. The issue goes as deep as to what impression (if any) this kind of "music" leaves on young people (and impressionable people of all ages) and then to important issues of society itself, teen pregnancy, underage sex, etc. Whether sex lyrics in popular songs have any relationship with those things I don't know (I'm certainly not making any claims) and is another area of debate. But I don't think these issues (if they are issues) can be addressed with a "change the f'in station" approach.
Whatever the answer, (IMHO) parents have the right to protect their children from whatever they wish. I don't think that's possible at the moment. I don't have a problem with freedom of speech/expression, but I don't think it would be possible for a parent to control access to sexually explicit music these days.
My own personal problem with this stuff is a selfish one. I hate it whenever anything other than music is used to sell music, whether it be videos, sex, trends or whatever. It has pushed musicianship to the back of priorities. I have to spend all day listening substandard music (through lack of any decent choice) because the girl who sings/dances in the video is hot. Why do I care if she's hot? I'm never going to meet her or go out with her. When I buy a CD or listen to the radio I want good music, nothing else. Modern day music industry tactics have resulted in total polution of the greatest art form.

Yeah, I heard Snoop Dogg was facing something similar to R. Kelly lately...
I mean come on, that brings another point, what does R. Kelly Always sing about....sex, and he is a suspected child rapist, WHO IS MARRIED! Come on, it's not gonna be good for kids or adults to always be exposed to sex songs all day.

:) Explaining not complaining. I was simply saying thats what I think. Everyone entitled to an opinion just as much as the next person.
Vanessa sings about sex plenty, just not as explicitly.
Levels is the whole basis of this conversation is it not? I don't think anyone blatantly said that sex and music does not/should not mix, rather the majority here has plainly said its sometimes much overdone. I personally love the way Vanessa pulls it into her songs.
...so i dont understand why you would want to whine about it...... CHANGE THE F'IN STATION.
Hmm... I didn't think anyone was complaing. And who said we listened to it if we said we didn't like it? I know I put in my post that if I don't like it I change it and hey when I do like I go ahead and listen to it. So I wasn't whining. Didn't think anyone was whining...
...I think you have a lot of valid things to say and good points to make but you sometimes mush everyone's opinions together and come out with one big sterotype that I hate being in.
