They're Chinese? No, I think 'cause it's a "happy" color . . .yeah, happy. . .that's it. Smilies are smiling, which means they're happy, so they're in a happy color!

The modern smilie is a descendant of the "Have A Nice Day" logo that first appeared in the 1970s. The colour yellow represents the sun, the almost universal symbol for "day". :D
