I just picked up his new album "Want One". It is amazing, especially the first track "Oh What A World"...I give it an 11 out of 10...
-
I love his version of Hallelujah and his song on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. Apart from that i have never heard his own stuff, but i like him a lot from what i've heard!

He has a new album out in May
I can't wait!
www.rufuswainwright.com has alot of information on it.
I've heard the first single from it and it sounds great.
-
I know!, but does he have a single out yet?
-
It's coming out on the 30th of April I think. Something like that.
They've played it a few times on the radio over here, but I haven't seen a download available yet.
Going To A Town
I’m going to a town that has already been burnt down,
I’m going to a place that has already been disgraced,
I’m gonna see some folks who have already been let down,
I’m so tired of America
I’m gonna make it up for all of the Sunday times,
I’m gonna make it up for all of the nursery rhymes,
They never really seem to want to tell the truth,
I’m so tired of you, America
Making my own way home, ain’t gonna be alone,
I’ve got a life to lead, America
I’ve got a life to lead
Tell me, do you really think you go to hell for having love,
Tell me, enough of thinking everything that you’ve done is good,
I really need to know, after soaking the body of Jesus Christ in blood,
I’m so tired of America
I really need to know,
I may just never see you again, or might as well,
You took advantage of a world that loved you well,
I’m going to a town that has already been burnt down,
I’m so tired of you, America
Making my own way home, ain’t gonna be alone,
I’ve got a life to lead, America
I’ve got a life to lead,
I got a soul to feed,
I got a dream to heed,
And that’s all I need,
Making my own way home, ain’t gonna be alone,
I’m going to a town,
That has already been burnt down

I'm just a new fan, the only album that I have is Want One, I think I will buy one of the old ones, maybe Poses, before buying Release the Stars.

wow I don't know how I went so long without really giving Rufus a chance, but there hasn't been a day I haven't listened to his music in a few weeks now. And "Going to Another Town" is available on iTunes now. And I just bought "Want One" on sale for 7.99 from iTunes. He also has a track on the Meet the Robinsons soundtrack called "Another Believer." I've only really listened to his "Poses" album, and I love all the songs on there, especially Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk, Rebel Prince, California... and I love his remix of Across the Universe
-
Ah! I know. I have all of his albums, and every single song affects me in one way or another.
Going to a town is good too :D And i'm going to a bar next week, they're going to play his whole new album through. Should be fun.
btw. Tim, its quite weird but I was just on your last fm profile a few hours ago through a rufus wainwright google search. Strange :/
-
I love Rufus, I'm not sure I like "Going to a Town".

I love Rufus, I'm not sure I like "Going to a Town".
The lyrics are bothersome but the song is beautiful, especially the chorus. and in the end he makes a good point. this song sorta reminds me of California (Life is the longest death in california... oh man.)

I usually prefer his slow piano songs like "Poses" or "Dinner at Eight" he just has this warm masuline voice that goes perfect with them.
