lol.  depends on whos firewall, where you are, what kind of firewall etc etc etc.  We need more info than that.

lol well i dont know nething about it but i just wanted to disconnect it cuz it wont let me use direct connection on aim.  :)  haha

firewalls aren't bundled with ISPs and such usually...

Yeah but...... if shes using broadband then it's likely the firewall is in her house.  If shes not, then it's likely the firewall is on the other side of the AIM connection.

actually, i think the true question is...

how do you know if you have a firewall or not?

edit: could just be a router or something getting in the way if it's cable.

because when i try to direct connect with ppl it says that i cant because i'm behind a firewall.

i'll probably end up screwing up too much on this computer, and its my parents computer so i probably should just leave it alone. ya think? :)

well maybe, but wait...

what is connected to the cable modem?  is it connected directly to the PC via ethernet, or is there some other little square type box in between? :)

If you have Norton Antivirus running then there's a big chance you also have Norton Firewall.

If roadrunner is still part of adelphia co. which i believe it is, then they have checkpoint firewalls, you cant disable them.....i cant connect with people either

well thats different than what they gave me.....i hate software firewalls though.  its just an extra program running in the background slowing everything that you are actually using down
