She is the lady in Florida that is brain dead and her husbands wants to detach the feeding tube...
Personally I wouldn't want to live like a vegetable... but Gov. Jeb Bush stepped in saying that the tube must be put back, in favor of Terri's parents...
so what do you think?
-
It depends on who has the power of attorney I guess because that person should have been advised as to what to do in a situation like that.
-
Whoever wants her to live is right, and whoever thinks they should pull the plug shouldn't think that. But it's all good in the neighborhood, and although I think I'm ot supposed to be in favor of life-support, etc., I am under certain circumstances.

If it was your child, what would you do?
Now, don't get all, "I'd pull the plug," because you wouldn't. And if you did you would think "Maybe she would have recovered," every second of every day unil you die, regardless if victims inthat situation never recover if they haven't recovered after 3 months (which, 13 years is a bit longer than 3 months).
'Tis all.

Child of the Southeast Coast!
You wouldn't! Would not. Do you realize removing the feeding tube (which is their solution for "pulling the plug") is starving Terri? STARVING. Now she may not have any feeling, but still - You'd have to wait 10 days to 2 weeks before she died. Knowing she was going to die . . . No one wants to see anyone they're close to go through something like that, and I understand it, but because of that suck-ass feeling we have - Guilt - No one (but her husband, who has a girlfriend and a child outside of wedlock - sound like he cares about his Terri?) can live through guilt! Guilt sucks. Guilt is what drove Hamlet to becoming a psycho; It drove Monica (remember her - The Boy is Mine?) to depression. So no one wants to live wih that. Guilt = What happens when you pull the plug. Guilt = Hitting or running over a cat or dog. Guilt = Kicking an animal.

we're all going to die...to the husband terri has been "dead" for 13 years...if someone I loved had to go through each day is when I would feel guilt...GUILT because all she can do is sit there, and basically all you can do is hope a)she gets better or b) watch her slowly die, which would take longer then 10 days to 2 weeks... I don't think he should have to go through that...The lady would never look like herself again, and she may never come back to normal, and if she did she probably would not know of her life as before her accident. Don't tell me what I would feel, it's wrong to make someone just slowly die and can do absolutly nothing but "smile" and look stupid. I would pull the plug, if I felt guilt I would get help for that later...

wow... i dont know.
the husband has a right to do what he thinks is right... but the parents do too. miracles do happen and maybe there is hope for her. i think it's right for her life to be prolonged till the husband and the parents can come to a decision that they both are comfortable with. cause if one makes a decision over the other... i think they both might regret that. they need to come to an agreement before a decision that drastic is made.

I frankly don't think healthy people can decide what's best for a sick person. Most healthy have no clue what it's like to really be sick and can't understand the thinking of somebody who'd feel dying is a desirable alternative to living. It's usually just the healthy people being selfish and just thinking about their loss not the desire of the sick person. I'd personally not want to do it myself but I believe people have to right to die.
I realize this case is slightly different since Terri didn't really have a written desire for the circumstance.
