Ok, I spent the last three days at MEPS, a facility run by the Armed Services, which is intended on assuring that the people going into the different branches of the military are nice and healthy. Well I had to give a blood sample; I've always been horrendously afraid of shots, having only had about one or two in my life and I was terrified of this one, I got it out of the way somehow but now my arm hurts really bad, and the blood was taken about 15 hours ago. Kind of ironic that I have to ask this, my new position in the army is health care specialist, but for now I'm clueless and want to know from someone with experience, is this large amount of hurting normal?

hmm... well i too am terrified of shots, i have a needle phobia, and i had to get 3 on tuesday! it wasnt fun at all! but what ive noticed after you get a shot if that your muscle can be sore for a couple days afterwards. my arms finally stopped hurting yesterday. i guess just when there's a needle stuck into your muscle it can make it sore.
but if it hurts so much that its really bothering you, then u should see a professional.

That's normal.. When I got my hepititis B shots, I was told to move my arm around a lot so it wouldn't get stiff and sore.... you should have asked me! lol... But, hopefully you feel better now.

Hmm, maybe you should just call the doctor you went to, or some nurse, I am sure they can tell you whether it's normal or not...
I hope it's way better now, though...!

yeah i think that is normal. when you get blood drawn sometimes your veins get bruised.

I have no idea... i can never give blood because I've been getting tattoos for the past couple years.

Well I've been to the hospital too many times to count. Luckily I have no fear of shots because I have rolling veins and they can't be seen so they usually have to poke me several times to get a sample.
I've never given blood before but have lotsa experience with needles. I think it's possible for the pain to be normal. I've had several veins that collapsed and that'll hurt but usually you can see bruising in that area.
Usually when they draw blood you're not penetrating through muscle unless you're getting blood from an artery which is usually taken from under your wrist area. That's why those are the most painful. You'll usually have a throbbing pain from those and you have to put direct pressure on it for a while. It helps if you use heat packs or ice packs on them.
