If the Mom is Jewish, the children normally are. 'Tis why I am not. My Mommy's a Catholic, my Dad's a Jew - You know why he's a Jew but DURBIN isn't a Jewish last name? 'Cause my Grandmother on my Dad's side was a Jew. :) My Grandpa is a Catholic, I think, though I think he's just as confused as I am about whether he is or isn't.

I'm a Catholic. "Totally" a Catholic, too. Scratch the part where I said I was "half a Jew" because I'm not - My Dad's a Jew. Not me.

My Mom's family are all Catholics. There are about 18 zillion more of them than on my Dad's side, so that ALMOST makes me . . . Right.

my mom is catholic and my dads jewish but I'm jewish because they let me chose my religon and I decided after 12 yeras of life that I have no clue how jesus came to become gods son. Therefor I'm a jew. Oh,also,I wasn't baptized as a catholic but when I was a baby I was given a Jewish name...yet I forget it. I'll have to ask my father.

Shalom!

why not? It's not like I really practice my religon but...they left the door open for me to pick. I do wish that both my parent's were the same religon and/or practiced religon. I wish that I practiced my religon but whatever. I can't have everything I want. Just sometimes I feel really empty. Sometimes people don't realize how lucky they are to have faith and stuff.

Well, I could say, "my crazy white mother," but does that mean I'm Asian? Or, I could say, "my crazy Catholic mother," but does that mean I'm a Baptist?

i got money from my parents for chanukkah - and with that money i bought 8 or more items ... i got 3 button-down collared shirts from old navy (dark purple, light purple, and white)
(http://www.oldnavy.com/assets/product/Main/ona197532-05P1.jpg)<--the shirts i got just mine were different colors...,
1 pair of dress pants that are black pinstripes from old navy
(http://www.oldnavy.com/assets/product/main/ona2114162-04p1.jpg), a purple cableknit sweater from gap (wearing it today!)
(http://www.gap.com/assets/product/main/gap/ga213498-08p1.jpg)<--different color,
bottle of fiorucci perfume (i love this stuff and have wanted it for a while)
(http://a1377.g.akamai.net/7/1377/5720/20031001180059/www.sephora.com/assets/dyn/product/P6439/P6439_hero.jpg), purple bath scrubbies from old navy, 2 dvds from ryan at Best Buy, a smoothie at the mall, an xbox game for ryan, some kitchen stuff for me.... measuring cups etc...

thats all from my parents --- oh and i got a beer at a pub after all the shopping.....
(wow 14 things ... I did good)

from people at work
gift certificate to home depot which i used to get --- a huge dremel kit, a circular saw, a jigsaw, a mini vacumn, a rubber mallet, and a bread machine

a gift certificate to starbucks - haven't used yet

a tin of peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies

a hot chocolate gift set with marshmellows, a mini whisk, hot cocoa mix, and a mug... very cute

thats it i think.....

as far as the vanessa thing --- most children of jewish parents complain about having a "Jewish Mother" it's more of a describtion of the behavior of your mother than stating you are not the same faith... jewish mom's have a certain way of doing things and behaving that is why people say that...

i am 100% Jew and i am practicing and pretty religious....
Happy Channukah to all!
