Title: Pomegranates
Post by: VCfosheezy on January 05, 2004, 11:16:41 pm
I saw the old Stephan Jenkins MTV Cribs tonight, and he mentioned Vanessa a few times... First he was like, "My girlfriend [flashes to a clip of ATM video] lives out of a suitcase [hangs head in shame], and, that's where she lives [points to a corner where a suitcase overflowing with clothes and a laptop stacked on top is]... She plays the piano, ya know." He's got a really cute lisp when he says "girlfriend". Or when he talks period! (If you couldnt tell- I REAAALLY like him.)

Then the next mention is when he's showing us his fridge and he's like: "My girlfriend (with the lisp!), she eats pomegranates, and when I say that I really mean, she eats them obsessively."

Oh yeah, he also had a VC poster framed up in his 'office'. AND he put on a red unicorn VC beanie near the end. Awh. He really does promote her a lot doesn't he?

My point, and title, is that after I found out about the pomegranate thing I had to have one! Have you guys ever found yourselves buying or trying a certain drink/food that you know your favorite band/artist likes?

I do it all the time.. and was just wondering if any of yall do too.  :?:

I have always liked pomegranites.  I used to be obsessive about them, but I gave up because they only seem to be available during a very limited time in the fall.  Plus they are more expensive then other fruit.  Now I'm getting cravings for pomegrate juice.  I can get that at one of the asian stores in town.  I think I'll stop by there today even thought it is out of my way because I haven't had that in a long time.  I eat the little hard part of the seeds in pomegranites.  I wonder if other people do, or is it bad for you.  I couldn't imagine eating them and trying to take out that part.  Makes them crunchy.  Plus your hands would become more red than they already do when eating them. :?

But they're hard to eat and messy, so that's why I don't eat them often.

lol

i think V likes them because you really have to pick at 'em and use your fingers. it's uh, a very interactive fruit.

i'm eating one now and my fingers are completely stained... probably not good for the keys, letting the juice sop down. but oh well...

The first time I heard VC liked pomegranates I had a flashback to when I was maybe nine or ten years old, eating them(or better yet stealing them from a tree in the neighborhood) one after another in the early fall  -the start of my addiction.  LOL

When I came to Reno I noticed they hardly ever had them available -the end of my addiction.

Damn Reno.

You know what I find funny?  At a time other artists are taking off their clothes, intentionally or unintentionally, VC is relating herself with something probably just as powerful: food.  For the life of me if I ever hear or see toffutti cream cheese I could be in a coma and in the back of my mind there would be a connection made.  Maybe she should be the national spokeswoman for pomegranites. lol

they may have gone out of season --- they had them at the grocery store throughout november and december --- they are one of my fave fruits - however they stopped selling them at my grocery store after christmas I think - they are on the pricey side of fruits about $1.50 a fruit - but they are so delicious and taste nummy in recipes - like cocktails and such...
also pom wonderful (one of the biggest american pom. farms) carries bottled juices - so look for those too - delicious!!!

The funny thing when I drink the juice is I try to put only the amount I would be getting if I was eating the real fruit.  lol  I swish it around to incorporate or expose air to/into the juice so it tastes just like it would if I was eating it.  I've made it into a sort of science; that however doesn't suprise people.

I hate being allergic to things I really do.

I am allergic to flea's/mosquito's yuck!

grass gives me a rash not hives, so when I play lacrosse I have to put on lots of special cream from my doctor, it really does help.

I've been using a lot of cortizone, that stuff is gross but it works

I also have Lidocaine 4% that is really strong numbing stuff, lol.

I don't know why but I have trouble with rice sometimes.  If it is not cooked well or is dry I can have big problems.  I start choking and can't keep it down.  I might have an allergy to it, as allergic reactions run in my family, which is ironic becuase I have eaten tons and tons of it.  But if it is moist and cooked all the way thru I have no problems.  When I say I've eaten tons of it, it is not far from the truth.

On the other hand it is probably hard on my stomach & esophogus if not made right.  It is embarrasing when you are at someone's house and you start to have a major problem when no one else is effected.  I remember when I was a kid and no one could understand what was wrong with me a few times eating together with my family.  I understand more now, it was the rice somehow.

Edit: It always seems to happen with the rice made in a way I can't eat it and when I drink something like water or such.  All of a sudden I start choking and can't breathe.  My stomach rejects it and well you understand I'm sure.

I MISS ICE CREAM SO MUCH! At college they do the most gorgeous chocolate chip cookies that are freshly baked, and i can't have any of them! One non dairy ice cream that is REALLY nice is 'Swedish Glace'- thats if you can actually get it there. Personally i don't think much of rice milk!

okay, i've watch that episode a zillion times, and he does NOT lisp when he says "girlfriend"... he has an extremely sexy voice but i've never EVER caught any lisp.
it cracks me up when he says the thing about the suitcase, and especially when he stands up, all random, and says, "she plays the piano, you know."

btw, pomegranates are gross. but it's cool that he can juggle them.
to add to what he says about VC and the pomegranates, though, he also says (dramatically), "her fingers are stained with the pomegranate thing."

but it tastes SCRUM-trilescent!
Umm I got it from peters cornucopia it's a health food store in my area. It has tons of different juices like they had a HUGE bottle of pomegranate juice but it's very expensive..everything has a nice price but it's worth it the POM was only 3.75 ish? maybe and the soda was 80 cents a can. They also have like different fruit sodas but I didnt look at them all , the pomegranate one popped out to me.

and i thought i was the only one who said this

Pom Wonderful looks rather pricy online.  The website says I should be able to locate some at Kroger stores, so that's where I'm going this afternoon.
