Title: math help please!

i would like more how to do it, then the answer...any help would be appreciated

if h(x)= x*(squared) + 3x - 1 and  g(x)= -x +8

and the problem is h(x+1) + g(1).....i need to know the answer...but i would be more wanting the how to...

basicly what you do is...

put the (x+1) in for the X in Xsquared+3x-1 anytime you see an X

so it'd be (x+1)squared + 3(x+1)-1
which is xsquared + 2x+1 +3x+3-1 which simplified is
    Xsquared+5X+3

and then for the g(1) you put 1 in for x in the g(x) equation
which is -1+8 which equals 7

so you have to add those two together to get yer answer i guess?

so Xsquared+X+3  + 7  is..... Xsquared + 5X + 10


HAHA.... thats my best attempt its so hard to type online but yeah, someone correct me if im wrong

well googs did have a hard time there...we figured it out (okay i was just spurting random things and she would have slapped me to shut me up because i wasn't looking at the problem)!!!!

Oh that's tricky poor Joey  :( We did that kind of thing recently but I could never explain it like Gina or anyone else!
