Title: How Many Explanation Marks Are Too Many Explanation Marks?
Post by: Blake on January 08, 2004, 07:27:21 pm
It's come to my attention that some people use alot. Hence the poll. Maybe we could set a rule! You can only have have 3 or less marks rather it be explantation or question marks, ect. *now begins the dictatorship*

I'd have to say four or more.

I think the amount/number of exclamation points/marks should really reflex how you feel.  At a certain point you should realized you should release your finger from the key and check yourself in for/because of emotional instability.

Edit:  I'm not going to vote but you might notice that I rarely use more than one.  I would agree with PIBby though, no more than the end of the line you started at.  Especiallly when it can be assumed that the line of explanation marks go off the page into infinity.

I think there are so many more important things in the world going on that worrying about someones volume of exclamation marks seems frivolous.

I agree with Ty tho... usually the number of exclamation marks goes with the tone of the sentence and exclamation marks can either mean one is angry or very excited.

I think if it's three or less it's fine. Or if it's more than 10, that's fine too. Anything in between makes no sense.
