Is anyone else interested in him? I'm watching a show about him right now on the Discovery channel, it's really really interesting!
I have yet to read that one book someone recently wrote about him, i'm still on the waiting list! On the show they show footagge of this really cool tour you can take of the different places Jack the Ripper murdered all his prostitutes, it looks really cool! One more reason why I need to go to England. :-P
-
I read a book about him, it was really long, I never finished it, that one and Helter Skelter, the Charles Manson story/case
he's a famous killer isn't he?

Jack the Ripper: Case Closed...Patricia Cornwell.
Very interesting read. :D
-
theres the movie "From Hell" with Johnny Depp & Heather Graham :)
-
yes, that's the book! I put my name on the waiting list halfa year ago! but, my library is the only one in the county who has it, so they keep loaning it out. i think i might just buy it.
i will never see from hell, too many people i know have seen it and say it was the most gruesome movie they've ever seen....and i'm a wimp :-P
EDIT: my sig and av suddenly changed....and i like it! I'm guessing it's the magical work of christine, thanks! :-D

You can get the paperback for 7.99 new. If you have used bookstore in your area, you can probably get it much cheaper.

the Charles Manson story/case
8O
He almost murdered my grandma! He went to her house, and if it wasn't for the pictures of my dad on the aunt he might have done it! But he was normally against harming children (except for the pregnant lady).
-
ok...the full title is Portrait of a Killer: Jack the Ripper Case Closed

we don't have a used bookstore, but $7.99 is cheap enough, better than waiting any longer :-P
I just think it's really interesting what different stories and ideas people come up with. Like on the show I watched, there was this one guy who read a paper writte on people who were suspected to be Jack the Ripper, and on it he wrote that he knew whew Jack was, and the name, and it was one of the suspects. It'd be cool if they found out who it was, though I know it's pretty much impossible since that was way long ago.

Yeah, thankfully!!
She actually didnt know he was there though... she was down in the kitchen late at night, getting ready to go on vacation. She heard a car door slam, and looked out the window to see a car (his car) leaving. She didnt think too much of it and went on her trip... but when she got back, she was told that it was him!
I think the miracle is that there were the pictures of my dad and my aunt by the window he looked through, cause if he didnt see them who knows what he woulda done!
-
Thats just plain scary, that man is very scary and creepy!
:?
whoa!
you and your family are very lucky.

You were supposed to be confused. NO FUN!

Me and my friends have made more than one songs about him. O_o

From Hell was AWFUL! I had my eyes closed about 95% of the time. Johnny didn't even look all that great in it, and Heather Graham's accent was sooooo phoney! I mean, my cat could do it better. Anyway, I have yet to read Patricia Cornwell, I still have to get The Body Farm by her.
-
I saw that Unsolved History on Discovery and it was quite freaky and gross.
:?
those poor prostitutes...(I know that sounds bad!, but its true!)
I still want to see From Hell though, now.

We watched a video on the real body farm! Creepy stuff! (but very necessary, I kno). Patricia Cornwell was in it. I was going to read one of her books, but I never got around to it!
I'm excited... my forensics class is going to the LA Crime Lab on Wednesday!

heeh this thread ROCKS
Jack the Ripper is very interesting... but I would have to say that my favorite serial killer was Ed Gein. He was the craftiest of them all. He inspired many movies including Texas CHainsaw Massacre & Silence of The Lambs. He was obsessed with her FANTICALLY RELIGIOUS mother who was PSYCHO. She hated her husband and only used him to procreate. She would forbid her 2 sons from making friends and told them that all girls were whores. That is how Ed developed that weird obsession with his mother... The father died (the mother was praying for him to die) and the brother died in an accident (they suspect Ed to have really killed him after he insulted their mother)... and Ed was happy to be alone with his mother. Then she died and he starting to dig up and maybe bone freshly dead broads that reminded him of him dear crazy momma. Then that was not good enough so he started to kill. He did not kill as many as most serial killers do... I think it was plus/minus 5. He did all kinds of sick stuff with the corpses... belt made out of nipples, lamp shades & body suit made out of skin, use a skull as bowl, vaginas in shoeboxs and even one lady's torso was hanging from a meat hook. This dude was out of control. Anyhow he eventually was caught because he was a sloppy killer. After they put him in the loonie bin and gave him meds he was the best patient there. I almost feel bad for him... damn mother who deranged him... if he has some meds and a shrink... maybe he would had been ok?
Eh sorry for getting so off topic but I love discussing serial killers and I just had to summarize Ed Gein.
<3

I read that, I also like jeffrey Dahmer (sp?)
Ed Gein though was a very gruesome killer.

I also enjoy reading about Albert Fish ... the old man who molested and killed cute little kids.
-

When I was younger my friend and I were walking around this botanical garden, and we saw this guy run by, but we didnt think much of it. Then we saw helocopters over head... Turned out that guy was a murderer who they were trying to catch. We were SO freaked out! We didn't go back there for a long time, lol.

I think Gary Ridgeway is the most interesting.
The Green River Killer. He's the winner just by volume. He was conviced on something like 50 cases but those were only the solid ones, they suspect there was well over 100.
Gotta love the Seattle peeps. Ted Bundy was from here too.

Nicole... you're scaring me! lol

lol @ Holly!
and TED BUNDY! haha that dude just cracks me up! The way that they caught him was CLASSIC. He tried to kill a girl bit her ass... but she got away... used the bite mark on her booty to identify him through dental records and VOILA! lol This happened in Gainsville, FL.
-
LMAO!
bite on her booty aye Nicole???
nice...
:D
I think Women Serial Killers do nice jobs also, can't forget the women!

Yep! Forensics is an amazing science. It's awesome what they can do now a days! So far I've learned about soil, fibers, blood splatter, and fingerprints.
I think the best trick we've learned is how to tell what height and angle the blood came from the body, just by measuring the drop.
*is excited to go to the crime lab*
-
yes speaking of woman serial killers... Eileen Wournos ( I so spelled that wrong) is the killer portrayed in Monster with Charlize Theron & Christina Ricci. She was a lesbian truckdriver who would sex up the men and kill 'em! My kind of lady! just kidding....
yay for Holly & crime lab! I went to the shooting range with my forensics class in high school.

I want to see Monster, supposedly she was the first or most famous female serial Killer
Manda
-
you beat me to the punch! lol
-
Of course I did, have you read the book, "mistresses of mayhem"??? so awesome!!!
you must, if you haven't.
best women killers ever.
Manda
-
no I have not but I just ordered 7 books from amazon... so I am thinking I won't be reading that for a while.. I will keep it in mind!
-
what books did you order? I'm a total Romance Nut, although I haven't read any lately because the last one's my fave author came out with were disappointments. . .
:(
Mistresses of Mayhem was a good Women Serial Killer book, I want to see Monster though, very much.
Charlize Theron looks like she played the role well.

ooo shooting ranges are fun! I went to a boy scout camp with my friends once, and I was pretty good at hitting the target, i was surprised.
The crime lab will be cool! I'm just glad we're going there instead of the morgue where we were going! 8O
-
The Morgue???
how neat-0!
:D
j/k
I'm sure you'll have tons of fun!
Manda
-
lol, no... i'm not into seeing dead people! the only ones i have seen have been at wakes.
-
ohh the morgue no thank you... too creepy for me even!
-
And you call yourself a serial killer fanatic Nicole...tsk tsk!
Even i'm not afraid of a little morgue.

Forensic anthropology is something I'm looking into doing as a career down the road. It's facinating. Like, they were able to tell what Otsi (the frozen ice mummy found in Italy back in 1994) had to eat and how it was cooked.
The body farm is a crazy experience, remember to bring masks because nothing stinks worse than humans!
-
lmao, this thread has gotten completely OT :-P hehehe, i don't like serial killers, they freak me out....just Jack the Ripper. I think it's because he's more of a historical mystery, and I like studying history and time periods. Modern serial killers just make me want to gag
-
Jack the Ripper is from Yorkshire-loads of my family live there! *fears for her life*
-
lol you'll be okay Rosie, that was maaaaaany many moons ago
