I went with my Uncle Gerald.

(That was a joke. I don't have an Uncle Gerald, nor have I been to a prom . . . with him.)

omg just disown our uncle Gerald like that...I see how it is!

um...well our prom is junior/senior, so I can go next year...but I chose "I'm not a senior yet but I don't plan on going," and my friends and parents are all "why not?" too...

I didn't go because I knew no one would want to go with me. Sounds harsh, but 'tis true.  :?

"sigh"...I wanted to go to our prom, the ninth grade dinner dance, but my mom refused to buy me a dress. I'm still a little sad, but, whatever, I'll get over it.

untrue. I bet if you kept on asking people someone would have went with you. It's bound to happen. Eventually someone would have said yes. And if not, it's their lose. People are losers. Yep.

I would have gone with you. :( Granted, I was probably 8 or 9 at the time, but that doesn't matter.

am I the only one who went and had a good time?! lol
I guess it's not everyone's thing, but I love dressing up and dancing, so it was an awesome time! The DJ was good, the food was good, I went with good friends, I had a good date, and the hotel room party afterwards was fun!
The fast dances are fun! My friends and I just danced in a group facing eachother with our guys behind us. The slow dances were great! And by each one we held a lil closer!  :) We danced to "The Reason" and that was the best part... I LOVE that song!

The thing is you go to private school so your Balls are probably a LOT better. I'm glad you had such a great time.  Mine last year was similar to what Jess' it sounds like.

this is true - for our prom the junior class has to pay for literally everything used except for what is left over from previous proms. And since our school is so small, the classes don't have much money - so it's held in our gym with what decorations the class can afford.

just got my pics back - they'll be up soon!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to our ball this year but I've got plenty of time to decide...it's not until August and we have it at a hotel in the city. We also have themes...the four themes to choose from this year (the class votes and one with the most votes wins) are Latino, Boogie Nights, Masquerade and Celebrity nights...I really want celebrity nights =D

Uhhh, yeah, so I was thinking of wearing this dress...

I'll add another pic later.

Thats how my school is too... The Junior class paid for every single thing. My school is pretty small, about 100 girls per class. Each class has an account they carry on throughout the 4 years... The Freshman class puts on the Senior Breakfast, Sophmore's put on Winter Formal, Juniors put on Prom, and Seniors put on a party with an underprivledged elementary school. The only way we raise money is by selling food at school, raffles etc... The school doesnt help us AT ALL! So it doesnt matter what kinda school I go to, lol, I had a fun time.

Of course it matters! You go to a school where people are rich, Jess and I don't. lol.

I'm not insulting you Holly! If you go to private school the socio-economic status of the people (and therefore the income) is BOUND to be higher- its just a fact! I'm not saying 'money is everything' either, i'm just saying thats probably the reason your 'prom' was much better. Count yourself lucky! heheh.

I'm not saying you were, lol.
And I know I'm lucky to go to my school...
But my opinion of prom is that it can be as nice as possible and you can have a bad time, or as crappy as possible and have a good time, just depends on your company and the things that happen.

We didn't have a Senior Prom  :?  I gues because I went to an all-girls Catholic school. Shame though, it would have been fun.

Didn't go. I had nothing but apathy for my school and any of the functions for it. During prom leadout practice, I was in the computer lab on vanessacarlton.com's fourms :D
