I highly doubt anyone here has seen the movie or read the book... but if you have talk about it. Or if not, buy the book! It rules.  :)

I saw it. It's a good film. A strange film, but interestingly so.

I think it lost a lot in the translation from Japanese though. Like one death scene.

Japanese Girl: I have something to tell you.
Dying japanese Boy: What...errrgh.... is ... urrgh... it?
Japanese Girl: I think you're really .... [dramatic pause] ... cool

Hehe. But apart from that, I liked it.

Kev- Yeah, you could tell it lost a lot. Most of it was probably done to help the English speaking audience understand, because I know in one instance, when Niida was talking to Takako, she said something like "what did this idiot say.. piss me off!" And it was actually a phrase like "Cut scene (or hold on a minute)", but not being into the Japanese youth lingo, it would have been lost on the audience. /BR useless trivia

Also, the movie had to take out a lot of the background, which sucked.[/quote]

And it was very, very graphic... one of those movies where you wanna take your eyes off the screen but you can't coz you're totally fascinated (in a very sick way  :? ) and gripped...

So, in short; yeah. I liked it.

I was SO hoping someone would post this movie/book on here! Okay, I watch the movie, like, every day! I am not even kidding! It's my all-time favorite movie! And I haven't finished the book yet, but I'm almost there. I agree. It IS moving. My two favorite characters: Shogo Kawada and Takako Chigusa. Shogo is just really brave and amazing, and I feel so bad for him, and Chigusa is just such a kicka** character. It's hard to watch the part where she stabs the guy you-know-where, but I do anyway!!!

Battle Royal is awesome.

Any movie by Takeshi Kitano is boss. He just made a new Zatoichi: the Blind Swordsman movie.

Battle Royal 2 is out at the video store now. Havent seen it yet though. It is supposed to be a scathing comment on America's Imperialistic ways, which is fine by me.
