Title: Do You Burn Easily?
Post by: PIBby on June 02, 2004, 01:53:24 pm
Right. I never wear sun-block, and I don't know if I find it more offensive, funny, or retarded when I hear people say, "Atleast I won't get skin cancer," (when referring to my lack of sun block). But, I'll have you know, I do burn easily, and I normally don't think it hurts. I'm red for about a week (this is when I get "back to my Indian heritage" ;)), and then I'm tan.

My hands aren't tan - still German and white - and I'm really confused. I don't think I've worn gloves this Summer (yet ;)) so . . . O_o

i burn SO friken easily! being that my heritage is northern european, it makes sense. Damn scadanavian skin! I'm very fair... and when I do burn it doesnt even turn into a tan, it just peels and is as fair as I was before. The only way I tan is from mystic tanning, lol.

this weekend I went to the beach and my friend put sun screen on my back. she did a really bad job though, haha. Cause my shoulders and the middle of my back turned bright red! It gave my friends some laughs though... they kept telling me to turn around cause it's funny. and my friend who put the sun screen on me was like "no... she's gonna kill me, haha"

lol, Holly that's funny because the rest of me is like a Swede/German/English/Scotch-Irish mix...and yet I could turn black if I stayed out in the sun enough.

DOMINANT GENES.

Hello! Where have YOU been?! You could be as German as you WANT to be, but because you're a quarter Indian - You'd have those dominant Indian genes being dominant and taking over your European-ness. :\

That is certainly not personal. :D

They piss me off.

My skin is rather dark for my heritage. Well, not really.  Just a bit dark, I think... Anyhow, I'm Armenian. 8O

Okay, is mystic tanning the cosmetic tanning lotion?!

My friend halle is white and she wanted a tan, and so she said she used mystic tanning, and it came out awful. I mean one arm had sports, and it was yellow. and her other arm had patches of white and it was darker than the other, it looked bad...

or is mystic tanning something else?

I don't burn. Ever. I'm all yellowy during the winter and then in summer, ta-daaa! I'm brown!

It's slowly changing though. My mum used to be like that too when she was younger and now she's a lot paler and it takes quite long for her to get tanned. I do find it takes slightly longer for me to tan now than it did years ago, so it might be a genetic thing... And I may end up pale with the years!

I used to burn quite easily but ever since i went to America and got really tanned last year i am tanning a lot quicker. The other day when i was revising in a park with my friend my knees got SO burnt and i swore i wouldn't let that happen again- it was so painful! So now i put on suncream every morning after i've had my bath. heheh

Australia is smack bang under the hole in the ozone layer ...
EVERYONE burns here ... even if you natural tan like me ...

The only people taht don't tan are the people with SUPER dark skin ... olive skin doesnt even count ...
You can get sunburnt IN WINTER here!!!
I was swimming last week, and the backs of my legs and my back got VERY BURNT!!! (It's winter in Australia ... )
Believe it. I only swam for an hour ...

10 minutes in the sun, i'm not joking i'm red. We have SPF 50+ sun screen here ... that's how bad it is ... it's really bad ... all thanks to global warming and pollution and bad environmental things ...

the oceans are rising, the ozone layer is getting bigger ...
Great isn't it?

lol Zena you sound like you need the SPF 100 my mom got me! i'm really prone to skin cancer so during the summer i put it on all the time - that stuff is like a freaking force field around your skin

OH - and a little trick i read in a magazine to see how long your sunblock will last: It takes 5 minutes for suntan lotion to set in to your skin and then slowly wears off every 5 minutes after..so take whatever the SPF is and multiply it by 5, and that's how long it will last before you need to put more on! But if you burn easily you should still re-apply every 45 minutes or so if you're going to be out in the sun

100 O_O
When you described it as Force Field, I imagined your face buzzing and flickering ... like a freal force field LOL

Yeah buring is very bad.
And make sure to check freckles and moles for a change in shape color or size as that can be an indication of skin cancer.
Burning is so bad for your skin.
Best way to get rid of it is MOSTURISE!!!
Aloe Vera or just normal Vitamin A or E based creams ought to do it,
AND DRINK WATER becasue a sun burn is after all still a first degree burn means you body is dehydrated ...

LMAO hahaha nooo no not an actual forcefield :-P thought that would be interesting to see....

yeah it's SO important to check any moles, especially ones that are hazy. I have quite a few that had to be taken off because they were starting to change...i think that's one of the things people most ignore

I can get a great tan due to being Italian but I did burn my knee off by crawling across the beach on Memorial Day over coals that were burning beneath the sandfrom a campfire from the night b4. OUCH! My knee is scary looking! 8O
