She was found guilty, and all she is being punished with is the minimum allowed sentance for such a crime. She's wasn't even convicted of the true crime she commited insider trading but she was convicted of lying.
She's a bitch. Ha. Infact, I'll just copy/paste from my LJ entry from last night.
Martha Stewart is such a whinning bitch. I hope she gets the shit beaten out of her in jail. She said to Barbara Walters that she's "worked for 62 years!" ... she is 62, that's dumb. Now she is claiming that she is being targeted b/c she is a female and a successful business woman. Then she started saying something like "I'm on TV 21 times a week for my successful, wonderful, award winning, emmy winning, blah blah blah TV show."
SHE DOESN'T STOP WHINNING!!! The judge went totally leanient on her giving her THE MINIMUM ALLOWED SENTANCE! And she kept bringing up all the 'good' things she's done over the years, and IT DON'T FUCKING MATTER! She commited a crime and things you've done good in the past don't make up for it! Just as if I killed someone, but said I went to church my whole life! (which neither is true, haha)

She's going to an upscale prison where she can play tennis and swim and talk "housewares". What I think is stupid that Martha goes for 5 months... For 'pocketchange' to her.. While the wife of the Enron guy gets a year for knowing and helping her husband steal MILLIONS of dollars from people... And I heard the guy was getting 20, not sure if that's true or not. If it is, that is sad. He should get life automatically.. (my opinion)

What bugs me is that our legal system was so incredibly quick to grab Martha, put her on trial, and convict her, when she really isn't a danger to society. However, I can think of three other high profile cases in which the defendants could and in the last case, definitely are a danger to society: Kobe Bryant, Michael Jackson, and Saddam Hussein. Michael Jackson, I believe, thoguh, settled out of court, and Kobe's has been dragging on for quite some time? Or has his trial only just begun? Okay, I suppose I'll admit that Saddam Hussein was being kept for the Iraqi's to try, but still...the legal system was not nearly as quick to try and convict the other two, who could have posed a threat to society. So why is it that Martha Stewart was the one who needed to be taken care of most quickly?
I'm not saying that she's innocent; I didn't follow her trial at all, so I don't know any of the evidence; I'm just saying the speed of the whole thing bugs me...

She is not innocent, once again: if I were to kill someone and you killed someone yet I got punished for it, and you never got caught doesn't make you innocent of killing.

maybe not...but they are just trying to prove a point and Martha isn't the right person to prove it with because people don't like her. Just because she's a nice lady (which is a matter of opinion in the first place) doesn't mean that she shouldn't go to jail....she broke the law....other people get caught on insider trading (which is not "borrowing" money...i'm sure she was never goin' to give it back) and they end up in prison for a lot longer than 5 months....I think she shoulda gotten the max.....
