I have been listening to She Floats. I really like it. I have interpretted it in my mind, but I was curious to what anyone else got from that song. What does it mean, do you think? Or is there a general idea of what the song is about? Just curious. Thanks

[it's] about a girl who's living in utopia or a girl who's dead in a puddle. I can't decide.
Hah.

The first two more than the latter, IMO

the lyrics might change a little for Harmonium, but so far im guessing its about--
escaping your body / reality to go to a more peaceful 'imaginative' place
and/or
a woman with drug problems who finds it difficult to quit
...romours about someone still hooked on drugs although she says she's quit.
that is, if it goes "God knows she quits, though i'm told she floats"(meaning...noone knows if she quit, but romour has it she still "floats" a.k.a. gets HiiigHh)
meh, maybe maybe not, i'll have to see the lyrics in the booklet to be sure.

I thought it was about death and/or being suicidal..
Edit: upon listening again, I can see how it can be about someone on drugs..

A summer day in 2002, she sat in a Seattle hotel room, looked out over the puget sound, saw the whales... it basically wrote itself :)

you skipped the GOOD part!
she thought to herself: "I wonder what it'd be like to be a whale" (not her exact words to herself.)

I always thought it was a song about being high on something. It has that slow, yet comfortable, but know too happy sound to it. I love it. I can only imagine how it will sound live on this tour. 8O 8)

Hmmm...I believe she mentioned at some point that She Floats is about "the euphoria of being dead"? I also remember seeing an interpretation of it as a song about suicide...both interpretations work for me, all though the quote from V comes from a sort of unreliable Rolling Stone interview (that Rolling Stone interview  ), and the suicide one sounds a bit more poetic...
