Title: Next week's debuts
Post by: tricia on November 03, 2004, 09:46:40 pm
are all in serious trouble.

Eminem's new album was bumped to 11/12/04.  It will definitely being taking the top spot.

Now the best we can get is number 2. :(

I doubt Vanessa will even be top 10. I predict a 15-25 entry...and Im being optimistic.
Eminem, Britney, Shania, and Toby Keith will take top 4.
And I predict...
Shania
Eminem
Britney
(I dont know much about Toby so he could be #4 or #2 or #3 :p )

Yeah I was at Wal*Mart and they had a poster with the release info for the month. Em wasn't on there. But I didn't know about Shania's Greatest Hits being released that day too (along with Britney's). Ugh.

I know most of us have pre-ordered a few times but I know I will be picking up another copy or two on Tuesday.

How do you help? Tell anyone and everyone about it. Maybe buy a few extra copies. If you go to the store and her cd is not front center, move them.
(That sounds crazy but I have done it on a normal basis when I see my favorite artist hidden behind stacks of inferior cds :p )

Sorry 'Nessa

Even releasing on the Friday, Em will blow out the entire top 10. He did last time, lol.

Kinda sucks, A&M is going to have to do some major promo between now and Tuesday for it to do anything next week besides be mid-teens...

If they had released it back in October, or even September, this wouldn't be an issue.  Great going record label management.  :x

How about a 'Carlton Case Contest,' or, 'A Case of Carlton Contest'.  There are 30 cds to a case.  You could participate as an individual or as a group.  The individual or group that buys the most CDs, or cases of Cds, wins.  The group that wins gets some prize(like maybe a chance to meet VC) or special status.

I mean come on.  If you are going to be a NESSAholic, might as well be like an alchoholic and buy yourself a case. ;)

I still plan on buying three copies, but I'm afraid this CD is going to flop like "White Houses" has flopped. And don't say it hasn't, because it has.

How can anyone deny that it has flopped? The wrong single, at the wrong time. And yes, I think the CD will flop too (up against Britney and Em).

I knew there were going to be diehard fans who would be like "What do you mean? WH hasn't flopped!" who were afraid to know the truth.

I, however, WAS surprised that my good buddy Claire joined in on singing WH with me in Math today. I was taken aback because I didn't think anyone else knew, or in Claire's case loved, that song besides me. Oh well.

WTS will pwn.

We can help it by giving interpretation assistance.  Something sadly I haven't had the time to do.  To show how much a work of art it really is.

With this record VC was growing as an artist in so many ways.  She worked on lyrical ability, arrangement, and her own personal production abilities.  You think VC rocks now, just wait.

Even if you don't like the music she came out with and the mixes she used you have to give props on the apparent progress as an artist she is making.  As with any piece of art it reflexes not only who she is but also our culture.  And it apparently does so.  Artists don't come up with ideas completely on their own accord, rather the way they construct art depends partially on the ideas they are exposed to from other people around them.  Some of her songs more than others do this.  AWBTW sounds like objects of VC's mystical side.  To me that is almost totally her.  The subject matter sounds almost incoherent and to some maybe a bit crazy or insane. But so many very intelligent people have this HUGE mystical side to them.  It is something of her own world, and her own genius; if not easily entered into.

I know. A&M is digging Vanessa's own grave.

Right now, my main concern is that there will be a 3rd CD.

No, Shania is no Vanessa, but the popular opinion is hardly ever an intellegent one.
Quite frankly, Britney is no Shania is no Vanessa, but we all know who's going to come out on top

Promotion or not Let, I wouldn't expect blockbuster first week sales, the fact that it leaked months ago will kill sales.

We should be the ones wishing and hoping that the album will have high record sales. We all know that Whitehouses really was'nt  succesfull but that does not mean that Harmonium will too..
Title: Next week's debuts
Post by: amberbeads on November 06, 2004, 06:58:34 am
If people didn't hear White Houses then they don't know anything about Harmonium. Only fans will actually buy an artist's album without hearing any of the tracks.

Yay! We're competing.

I'm telling you, A&M should've made it released on October 19th. There are too many huge releases coming out this week.

Ja Rule, Britney, Eminem, Toby Keith, Shania Twain, some old guy who's a "classic" whose name I forget, etc.

A&M screwed VC over! But at least we're seeing signs of promotion.

I totally support taking VC's discs out of the back of the racks and moving them to the front of the row, even spreading out the copies so one is on the front of many different rows!  (And yes, I also support taking the others' discs and putting something in front of them, jazz or classical perhaps, or even VC if there are enuff copies!)

Heck take a bunch of her cd's and stand at the door of the store and just say here buy a copy

Or better yet, when someone isn't looking take the cd and put it in there cart, that way when they get up to the check out counter, they will go, uh who's this, and will have no choice but to buy it

At Target they didn't even have it on the New Releases endcap. I had to move it.

They really didn't even have that many copies available. I doubt it already sold cause I was there early.
