Make sure to record the Tonight Show with Jay leno on NBC tomorrow (Tuesday). Stephan and Arion will be playing as Vanessa's back up band during her performance of "White Houses" at the end of the show.
I went to the show in Oakland over the weekend. I got a few pictures, which i will post later this week. The show was great! The crowd was weird! I saw sooo many girls with armpit hair, it was very not Vegas. heh As SJ said at the beginning of the show, "Welcome to the United States of Northern California." Quite literally, it was a tree hugger event. It was all good though, 3eb hometown show you can't beat it! I was pleasantly surprised to see the show turn out so well knowing that they hadn't played in forever.
I got a chance to talk to SJ after the show and he said that the band is diligently working on the next album. It's going to "be like the first 2 Police albums and the traditional 3eb kind of tunes will be on the second disk if at all." Kids, go get the Police records - I must do the same to get an idea what to expect. heh
I'm also happy to report that SJ is alive and kicking after a rumble with a toothless crack head before the show. Apparently, SJ witnessed a guy being attacked by a crack addict that was high and so he jumped in to save the day. He said his kick boxing classes finally paid off and basically gave the guy a beat down until cops arrived. No, it wasn't a celebrity guest appearance on Bum Fights. heh
Stephan gave me and my new hubby a ride back to our hotel after the show and I got to hear a rough demo of a song - just SJ and a git-tar. I don't have a title, but the chorus sang about not running with cowards. It sounded like an anthem for being your own person and not a clone of anyone else. I liked it. Not sure if it will be a 3eb song, a sold SJ song or what - SJ wasn't sure either.
As you can well imagine, I was pretty well in la-la land after that, in complete disbelief of the night, so I didn't really think to get more scoop for you all. I will let you know more as I hear things....
Take care! Happy Turkey Day next week!

that's not true!!... im confused????
-
That SO better not be true.
-
I certainly hope he didn't say that. Up to this point, I've tried to refrain from saying anything negative about Stephan out of respect for Vanessa but if he really did make up such a ridiculous, out and out lie as this, then any respect I had for him goes down the drain. As another poster mentioned, Vanessa has already told us she wrote the lyrics for those songs. How could he just lie like that?
-
ew....
-
ew....
I was going to put the same thing lol.
what is the point in saying that? i really didnt like him much in the first place, now i just think hes stupid

Its probably just one of those sites making up crap

Trust me, these are respectable sites. They're not making things up.
But Stephan just makes shit up, that's just how he is. He jokes around, uses a lot of sarcasm. Unfortunately, from context, you can't tell if it's a joke or not. The "virginal teenage girl" thing makes me lean toward joking, but I'm not sure. He's not an idiot. He knows that his fans know exactly what he writes like. As soon as WH came out 3eb fans were picking through the song and determining which lines were Stephan's. It's obvious. So I'm guessing that he knows better than to assume we'd believe him (remember, he was addressing 3eb fans, not Nessa fans).
Lastly, seeing as it was after they played a show, he might not've been all there, if you know what I mean. So there are lots of possibilities.

what a jerk
that's SO not cool.... joking or not.
-
Somebody please shoot that man.

Stephan is a b*tch.. I cant stand him.. He's lying.. Nessa is to good for that jerk.. Arhhg im so mad... She wrote Annie for Victoria.. Right?
-
why didn't you put this in the other thread?

what a jerk
that's SO not cool.... joking or not.
He's a selfish bastard, seriously.
Which is why I've thought from the beginning that Nessa is wasting her time with him. He won't get married to her. It would mean he'd have to actually care about someone other than himself.

because you know... *coughcoughnOObcough*

Me too, I thought Chloe was calling me a n00b and I was like, huh?
Yeah so Brian from TVCY just told me that Stephan said he wrote the lyrics and Nessa wrote the piano.
And at this point no one can say if it's true or not. I'm thinking that Nessa gave him her thoughts and he organized them into lyrics. Especially if you think about how Stephan was there when she met Victoria (my boyfriend took pictures...) and how Who's to Say is most likely about the two of them, then he would be fairly knowledgable about the subjects and would know what to say. And White Houses he obviously had nothing to do with subject-wise but that entire song is littered with lyrics that are obviously written by him.
So does anyone know what I'm saying? He acted as a translator between her thoughts and the lyrics...?
Don't look at it like it makes Nessa look bad, either, because she didn't write all the lyrics. These are her experiences and if she was willing to let Stephan write about them WITH HER INPUT, then it's not a bad thing because it's her choice.
-
Dump that mofo.
EDIT: And the DVD even has him and Vanessa BOTH writing the lyrics to WTS, so he needs to STFU!
-
You guys just all need to calm down. I didn't post about this so that everyone could freak out. I just thought you all might be interested in hearing about it. SJ told one of his fans that he wrote the lyrics. He didn't take out a billboard or anything.
It's something to think about, though, that maybe, just MAYBE, he really did write them. Nessa never said she wrote new LYRICS after the blizzard. It's quite possible that she was inspired to write the piano.

*deleted*
*sigh*
It's not the end of the world. Stephan isn't exactly John Shanks or Max Martin.
-
ill pretend i never read this....
-
WHAT AN @ HOLE!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!
Like Nat said. He isnt worth a freakin' dime. Nessa is way too good for him. He is just wrong.
-
Okay, I'm totally sorry that I started this thread.
It was a mistake.
*sigh*

I get what you mean amberbeads...but didnt it actually show them on the dvd writing the lyrics together? And doesnt Vanessa have cowriting credits on them? If it was just "her thoughts" she wouldnt get cowriting credit.
(people can argue that, but its true-I remember a huge commotion over a Britney Spears song one time-she said she sat down and helped write a song, but she didnt get credits because all she did was talk about her thoughts and feelings. That does not equal cowriting credits, even if the song is directly inspired by the thoughts)
-
No, it would be cowriting credit because she wrote the piano. Jenkins doesn't play piano.
-
Stephan is a very talented producer and underrated drummer. I don't know him, but my feeling is that he has an IMMENSE inferiority complex, which may take many forms, like editing himself into 70% of the "making of" video or claiming he wrote everything on Earth. Hell, I can speak for myself when I say I have pursued musical instruments in a way of making up for perceived shortcomings.....who knows?
No matter what his considerable talents, he is still annoying as all hell.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

There is a difference between writing the music and lyrics-I have seen plenty of cds that denoted that someone write the lyrics while someone else did the music. If it does NOT explain that, then its implied that both aspects are cowritten. (For example, in one Hanson cd it says lyrics done by ITZ Hanson/cowriter, all music done by Hanson)
Does it say that in the Harmonium sleeve? It would say, lyrics by Stephen Jenkins, music by V Carlton.

I don't know.
But I'm done with this issue. Like I said, I'm sorry I brought it up.
