Title: computer brains come here
Post by: Steavis on November 23, 2004, 06:25:05 am
Ok, I'm in a hospital run by the army, I work here, and everything worked fine with AIM express until I got back from Japan, then all of a sudden it started saying that an error occured when I tried to log in and I haven't been able to get on since, and I'm not the most knowledgeable individuals when it comes to the inner workings of computers, but if any of you have any ideas, let me know, because this job is boring and I need something to do every now and then

We'll need the exact and complete error message. Without that it could be anything.

Then they underestimate my persistence

Anyway, the error message simply says "AIM Express Login Failure
An error occurred, please try again." Yet now matter how many agains there are, never will one work, so yeah, that's all I can tell you

Try changing ports.  You can do this in AIM.  Not sure about AIM express.

Depends on what you're giving, because in some cases people think excessive giving makes you a bad person

Get your mind out of the gutter! I meant being charitable to the less fortunate. Meaning volunteering time and donating goods and money to others.  You never know when you may need help yourself.

Did you just blanket-insult every single person in the world who uses sarcasm?

I'm sure William Shakespear, T.S. Elliot and Lord Byron  apprciate YOU calling them Jackasses.

Edit: Wait a minute.... Why did I respond to that?  YOUR POST WAS SARCASM!  troll'd :(

Just backup all important information on the computer, make the computer go into a major crash, tell them the computer crashed, get a new one, reinstall all information, and download AIM express.  Your tax dollars hard at work.

Well, depending on how access was blocked, it could be possible to re-route your connection through another server (posing as say, a web request), then relay it to the AIM servers.  Yes, it sounds complicated, but it's do-able.

The easiest way to achieve this is to find out if either AOL or a 3rd party has made a web client available for AIM. I know there's one for MSNM (http://webmessenger.msn.com/).

No, you've mistaken what I suggest.  I'm saying run a type of "proxy" server , more technically known as a port redirection.
