My favorite band is Staind. Most people have at least heard of them thanks to "Outside" & "It's Been Awhile", two monster hits from last year. There's a new CD coming out on May 20th called "14 Shades Of Grey" which I can't wait for!
First time I heard of them was with "Mudshovel" in 1999, but I didn't like it much at first, thought it was too hard, then they released "Home" as a single and I was totally hooked! And since that time "Mudshovel" has become a favorite too, true its hard but at the same time one of the most lyrically powerful. Any time I'm angry or pissed off, thats the song to crank up.
I wonder who's bright idea this pic was?

They put on an amazing live show. I saw them on Family Values 2001 and they were so good I didn't even stay for the headliner(STP). But unfortunantly I've never got to meet any of them. Downfalls of big artists doing arena rock. But it's alright, they're still my favorite band!
"This is the real mo-f-in' deal y'all. I'm feelin' those lighters."

*looks at thread title* Ow my eyes! LOL. Staind is the shiznat though. Awesome band.

The new single "Price To Play" hits radio today! You can hear the entire thing on their ECARD:
http://www.bandbuilder.com/staind/
It okay, but its no where near as powerful as "Its Been Awhile" the lead single from their last album, but I like it! I'm totally jazzed for the new album! Question is, can I resist the urge to listen to the leaked version before I have the album in my hands?? I'm gonna try.
-
news bit:
---------------------------
When it comes to Aaron Lewis' songwriting, nothing is in black and white. 14 Shades of Grey, to be released May 20, contains 14 songs that Lewis describes as "more mature" than Staind's previous releases.
While the lyrics on Tormented, Dysfunction, and Break the Cycle dealt mostly with Lewis' depression, 14 Shades of Grey branches out a bit. "Sometimes it's a little more difficult to figure things out and fix them," says Lewis, and his lyrics explore this theme as well as many others.
The first single, "Price to Play," is a comment on the music industry while "Zoe" is inspierd by his 1-year-old daughter and "Layne" is a tribute to the late Alice in Chains frontman Layne Staley.
Included with the CD will be a limited edition DVD that contains footage of the band throughout their career.

--------------------------------
(6/2/03, 5 p.m. ET) -- Staind will film a video this week for "So Far Away," the next single from its Number One album 14 Shades Of Grey. The video will mix vignettes from life on the road with live performance footage from the band's show at the Orbit Room in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Wednesday (June 4).
Staind is touring the U.S., and has dates scheduled through August 1 in Norfolk, Virginia.
"So Far Away" follows the album's first single "Price To Play," which is Number Seven on the Billboard Modern Rock chart.
-
It takes 3hrs to get to the Gorge. We left Caleb's house at 1pm, so we got down there around 4pm. First thing we did was hit the beer garden for some grossly overpriced drinks. Then we headed to the main stage to grab a spot for the show. COLD was to go on at 6pm, but a DJ went on stage and told us that one of the band memeber's father had died so they would not be appearing, instead Smile Empty Soul was the opener for the main stage.
At 8pm sharp Staind takes the stage. They open with "Intro" and then "Price To Play".
"Crawl"
"Fade"
"Epiphany" the sun set during this song, it was beatiful
"Outside"
"So Far Away"
"Layne"
"Pressure"
"Open Your Eyes"
"Yesterday"
"Suffocate"
"For You"
"Mudshovel" the entire place was rocking to this one
"It's Been Awhile"
The 2 songs that have shaped my life most were played back to back at the end of the set. It was perfect! That's not an exact setlist, it was done from memory so a few songs might be in the wrong order, but they are all there. The set lasted an hour and 10 minutes. Not bad all things considered.
By the end it was jsut too damn cold, so we opted to leave and not stay for Godsmack, plus we had the 3hr drive home.
EXCELLENT show! Aaron has still got the fire!
-
Rawk! Glad you had an awesome time man! :D
-
Ahh, yes I heard their new song last night , "So Far Away" it is awesome!

oh brother, they make me sick. No men's magazines, no Parental Advisory stickers. I hate fucking WalMart. You need to start going to Barnes & Noble for mags and Best Buy for music & DVDs. Fuck censorship.

Yeah, it's been number 1 on the local rock station for about the past 3 weeks straight, and just debuet at number 3 on the local top 40 station...
-
Good to see 14 SOG moving up on album sales!
SFA dropped out of number one last night beaten by Shine Down "Fly From The Inside" the first time Staind wasn't number one in about 3 weeks....or more actually...

www.rollingstone.com/picpalooza

So Far away was Number 1 on the local rock station's "Rockin Top 9 @ 9" for:
[08.15.03] ---- [09.21.03] With only one interuption, So Far away was number 4 on the 17th of September when it was
4. Staind
3. Limp Bizkit "Eat You Alive"
2. Mudvayne "World So Cold"
1. Shine Down "Fly From The Inside"
So in other words it was number one consecutive for over a month, and yesterday [09.22.03] Staind wasn't even on there.
My first theory was that they removed it because it had been on there so long, and then again, number 1 was Mudvayne "World So Cold" which has never been number one, but debuet [06.27.03] at number 5.
So for some strange reason some people just keep voting for that song...

those are from their acoustic performance of Its Been Awhile on TRL...
A light went off in the exec's head and said, we got em here doing acoustic, lets have them do an MTV2 Unplugged later tonight after REM does theirs!!!
Wonderful idea... so REM's Unplugged ended up going to about midnight, and Staind's Unplugged started around 1am, plus Aaron was quite sick and it ended BADLY. They ended up scrapping the whole performance and inviting them back 3 weeks later to do another MTV2 Unplugged which was much better and is the one that aired and is available on DVD.
-
Yeah, I still have to get a copy of 14 Shades of Grey
I'm such a slacker...

Yeah I was soooo pissed cause I laid down on my bed at 8:00 and started studying, and I thought, If I fall asleep, I will be so mad! I woke up at 3:30 yelling SHIT!
But since it was a bad performance...I'm not so mad.
Kimmel performance ROCKS!

Also, Staind "So Far Away" should be debueting on top 40 at 40 if things go well...

I heard on the radio Staind has had to cancel a bunch of dates cause Aaron have polups on his vocal cords :(
-
I heard on the radio Staind has had to cancel a bunch of dates cause Aaron have polups on his vocal cords :(
Yeah they were talking about that on the local station about an hour ago. They said Fred Durst has the same thing, and it's something like a swelling of the vocal cords.
-
There's an article on Staind over at MTV.com that talks a little more in depth about the true meaning behind "How About You". Here's a quote from Aaron Lewis, "They think they can just sit behind a desk and tell us all how to do it. If they knew how to do it, they wouldn't be behind a desk." This article also mentions that after the Canada tour, Staind plan to be back in the studio to start working on their 4th major label release. Great news!

Staind have announced that their next single will in fact be Zoe Jane, off of their latest cd 14 Shades of Grey. The track is set to hit radio stations on March 30th.
-
Dang was I misinformed someone told me their next album was called Zoe Jane..Haha!!
Maybe they'll back it up some, How About You is still gaining play on Active Rock..
-
one of my Paula friends told me to check out their new song "Believe" so i did & wow i LOVE this song.
i'm a huge Criss Angel fan for those who don't already know & his new show is called "believe" & he's always telling his fans to believe in ourselves & stuff so that's why she thought i'd like it & i do. & he does illusions so the title of their new album made me crack up lol.
i'm gonna check out their other new stuff later.
