Ok, now usually I don't post any kind of requests or anything, but one thing stands constant in a time of war and that is that the blood banks are constantly being called upon to treat our wounded along with countrymen of the country we're at war with.
Everyone wants to do something to help, and if that's the case with yourself than go and donate blood; even if it doesn't go to our troops fighting in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, it may go to someone in your very own town who has had an accident, it's something almost all of us can do; I did it myself, and though the idea of a 16 gauge needle isn't my thing, I'll likely do it again as soon as I can.
Ok, all I needed, thanks all!
An edit to disclaim that I didn't mean everyone here was american............and besides, I'd give blood for a soldier of any nation, even if it looks different, they have on the same uniform as me

Heh, I don't weigh enough to donate blood... meh, otherwise I would.
-
a certain pink haired friend of mine donated, you saw how loopy it made her the next day, especially when several strong drinks were used to replace the blood.

same here. it pissed me off because they let a girl who was the same height as me give blood, but she weighed 5 pounds more. so what, i pass out for a few hours - let me give blood damnit! :-P

I don't want to think about the wounded soldiers out there cause my husband is one of the one's fighting. I'd give blood, but I don't think I weigh enough... I think I'd be too sad to give blood though, cause it'd make me think of my husband and then I'd start crying... not good.

They won't take my blood on the count of my heart has this odd tendency to beat so slow it stops for 1-2 beats.

^^^ Hmm... my heart does something similar to that too... it always freaks me out cause I think I'm having a heart attack or something. As soon as my insurance kicks in I'm going to the doctor to figure out what's wrong with it.

Which is kinda funny/weird when you suddenly get real quiet... then cough. Almost like a kickstart, it seems.

Exactly. It's a natural reaction I guess. It doesn't scare me much anymore, I'm pretty much used to it.
@ morningsting: If I remember correctly mine are do to PVC's (Pre Ventricular Contractions?), or something along those lines.

I would but I'm to afraid of needles. I don't know how the hell I'm going to make it through MEPS.

MEPS is just a big scary dog, you don't get any shots there, those all come once you actually enlist and go to your initial (basic) training location. Working in an immunization clinic, I know the shots you'll end up getting in the end, they're Hep A and B, Meningococcal, Measles/Mumps/Rubella, Inactivated Polio Vaccine, Typhoid, Tetanus/Diptheria and a Tuberculin skin test (those aren't ALL at basic, but through the average military career.) Anyways Manda, if you have any questions as to the whole thing, just pm me, I'll see what I can do for you

You could always put some rocks in your pockets. 8)
Personally, I'm not against giving blood at all, but I'm just afraid somebody's going to be given my blood, commit a crime and leave blood at the scene, and then they come looking for me.
