I wish I could congratulate you but seeing someone your age pregnant is rather disturbing. Hope everything works out well for you anyway.

She's 18--she's an adult and she's married. What's so disturbing about that? :?
-
At least she isn't an unmarried 16 year old -__-
Now you going to have a kid who you can worry about turning into a bad-ass teenager. 8O Now you'll know what your parents must have gone through lol.
-
my little hoo-hoo is all grown up *tear*
congrats! I hope you raise a cute little hoolet!

What about that abortion you had at 15? Fooling around with Whit at in the bandroom :?

Not really, she can pull an Erica Kane and give the kid up for adoption--then it could reappear twenty years later.
-
lol, you weren't supposed to tell anyone ¬¬

Congrats Mal... this is a huge step for someone as young as you are but I think you and Ben have demonstrated your love throughout the years.

18 makes you an adult legally but it doesn't make you a good parent. It's true it may be better than unmarried and 15 but it still isn't an ideal situation.

congrats mal! i wish you all the best! :D

Who are you to say that she won't be a good parent at 18? "Ideal situation," that's laughable.

There's really no point arguing about it. It's obvious most people here think it's fine and dandy to have a baby at 18. I don't share your optimism. Sorry.

That's good, nobody asked you to.

LOL, I have to find the Inquirer and take a look at that again! LOL
And Steveau, I understand your feelings. Trust me, this wasn't planned. And we did want to wait a few years... But life happens, ya know? And trust me, we're capable. We've always been able to pull through... it's just how Ben and I am. Most people, yeah I'd be feeling the same way about them having a baby at 18... example--people 18 are still in high school sometimes! I totally understand and I'm not pissed at you or anything like that for not going woo hooey for me.
But we do plan on keeping it and raising it and loving it just like a 35 year old would, and also the best way we can do. You DO have to admit, 18 and married, (having had to deal with opposition to us dating for 4 years!) and now "unexpectedly" expecting a baby... this child will be far better off with someone as dedicated as Ben and me than it would be with someone still in school, knocked up by a guy who doesn't wanna handle responsibility and will take off the second he finds out, if not already gone...
With all that said.... To everyone else who said congratulations, thanks. And special thanks to Katia... That was really sweet what you said. I feel the same way, and thats how I know, even though I'm a litte freaked out right now (but who isn't when they find out they're pregnant), that we'll be okay and make it through alright.
Soon, I'll have a Family, in all the sense of the term. :) That makes me smile. I've been having funny dreams lately with an about three year old child in it... Last night I dreamt that he was sitting on a potty chair in some grocery store eating a handful of cereal, as well as throwing them on the floor so Dakota my dog could have some too.
Anyways... Whaddya think about these names so far? (they're just ideas)
For a girl:
Delta Kaylin O'Neal
(cause it sounds really pretty and Ben's dad (in the hospital right now due to knee surgery on both legs) murmured that he liked the name Delta. Then Ben's cousin Joel said he likes the name Kaylin. I like both because they're very different.)
For a boy:
Scott Allen O'Neal
(because Scott is Ben's middle name, and Allen is Melissa's husbands (Josh) middle name as well as Joels. We've always had a thing in my family for sharing names in one way or another... My middle name is Elizabeth after my mom's middle name. Emily's middle name is Michelle after my mom's sister. Emily's pregnant as well (6 months along) and she's going to name her boy Hayden Scott (scott after Ben's). :) See? How cute is all that?!)
But, like I said these are just suggestions and ideas that my family has been tossing around... and since it's so early... Who knows what someone might suggest later that I'll love!
Lastly, I go to the Doctor tomorrow... I can't wait to see her! She's known Ben since he was just a little tiny baby, so she's watched him grow up. I emailed her two days ago and let her know and she was SO excited!! She told me to come in whenever.... Ben set an appointment instead! LOL She said that she can't wait to see me to give me a big squeeze! I looked over at Ben and said, "Boy! I hope she means a hug!"
hee hee
Anyhow, that's all for now!

I'm glad you understand my point of view. I'm not going to lie and say I think it's great especially with so many younger people on the board that might be thinking that it's a good idea. I think it'd be totally unresponsible for me to say it's awesome being one of the older members. I do hope it works out for you though.
btw just don't name it Shaquille O'Neal. I hate that name now!
-
lol!
C'Mon... Do you ACTUALLY think I'd ever name MY child SHAQUILLE???
I'd have to shoot myself first...
(haha, and you can't say to me "Yeah you better do that," because then you'd be telling a whole buncha of youngin's who are NESSAholics that they should follow my great example!)
haha

I love the name Delta Kaylin! :D
