Title: Japan? Too Far?
Post by: loveplasticlove on December 21, 2004, 05:42:16 pm
Would you go to Japan if it was the LAST TWO concerts of your favoritEST band ever for the past 10 years before they break up?

If I had the extra money, I'd go. It all depends on how much it could cost, and how much I really liked them, lol.  :)

it's about the money and free time. I have neither but if that wasn't an issue I'd definitely go. I've always wanted to visit Japan anyway.

you all know how much I LOVE MM! And they are gonna break up... I'm so damn sad about it... the crazy obsessed fan in me is determined to go to the last show.  Right now the last tour date up is Japan... but Europe has not been toured yet.  I hope the last show is in France.  I've always wanted to go there.  I think my friend and I are really go fly out for it.  It just can't be any other way

GO! definitely
it will be something you will remember for the rest of your life
if you are even considering it then it's possible and you can make it happen
as you get older and have more responsibilities and more bills (and less freedom) you won't be able to do things like this as easily
find a good travel agent and go

i say go. i'm a really practical person, but  i still think you always need to have a few adventures - otherwise what's the point in life? if you have the money and the time, i say go for it. besides, it's Japan - how many people do you know can say that they've ever been to japan?

I went to Japan for two weeks in the summer of '98. I ate at a Denny's there. The pancakes tasted weird. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/keithrj997/19.gif)

I agree with Jess. Also, if a few of you are doing it then the whole experience of going to such an amazing country will be made all the better. I say go, and have the time of your life. And take a big box of hankies too, hehe.

I voted yes, only on the grounds that it would be because I was offered a trip to Japan in specific and not just to anywhere in the world.  If I could just go anywhere in the world, I would have to go Kiwi. 8)

No.

I have bands I have been listening to longer than many of you have been alive.  Music is by far my biggest passion.

No live performance is worth the kind of money and TIME a trip to Japan costs.

It's a minimum of 3 days of your life and probably more than a grand of your money.  For the same music you heard 3 months ago when they were 10 minutes from your home.

Love of music doesn't justify this.  Only love of being in the "sceene" does.

Edit:  You guys are compeltely killing the difficulty of the question by saying "If i had the money and the time."  You have to EARN the money and EARN the time.  No one is handing either to you.

Count it out this way, 1,500 bucks would take most of you the better part of a summer of part time work to earn.  If you spent NONE OF IT during the summer.  Would you give up an entire summer of afternoons to go see your favorite band play in Japan?

take into consideration it may be the LAST EVER.

Update:  My friend and I noticed it will be festivals and we realize it prolly won't be their last show because there are no Europe dates.  Ozzfest is also a possibility.  So we are just waiting to see what comes up...

Do you honestly believe that?

You know there is going to be a reunion tour in 10 years regardless.

That's irrelevant.  If you acknowledge they will be back in 10 years then you acknowledge this is not their last show.

Which means you acknowledge the reason for your urgency is gone.

So instead the question becomes "would you go to Japan to see your favorite band if you knew they wouldn't play another show for 10 years?"
