the orange and light green shapes are different sizes...in order for the whole thing to be the same size...the gap must be there
atleast that's how i'm looking at it

ok...the top and bottom shapes are the same size,right...but the pieces are in different locations, right
in order for the bottom shape to be the same size as the top, that gap must be there...it is created because the orange shape is moved down and over in order to make the two shapes the same length...
-
hahahaha.....wait....i've been looking at it all wrong...
the two large figures as a whole are not actually triangles, they are quadrilateral....the hypotenuses of the red triangle and green triangle are not co-linear...
the top shape is concaved, while the bottom is convexed
the hole makes up the difference after the shapes have been moved around
it's pretty neat illusion...

okay so the lines aren't straight...it should still fit...
-
No it shouldnt, because the lines are curved out in the second picture it allots enough space to remove one block. This about it, if the walls in your bedroom all curved in, your room would be smaller, if they curved out, larger
