Post by: divasteph on March 26, 2003, 03:03:20 pm
i went to blockbuster the other day and they have like buy 2 previously viewed or played games and movies and get one free so for like $12 i got 3 movies i hadn't seen instead of renting one for $4 ---
i got

-Amelie
-The Sweetest Thing
-Kissing Jessica Stein

and OMG - these movies rock -

The sweetest thing
----------------------
a little wierd but very funny

Kissing Jessica Stein
------------------------
i think this movie would turn any straight girl gay
it is so awesome - it is sweet and funny - and just
a refreshing movie

and Amelie
-----------------------
started watching it last night at like mid-night
i was really sleepy and decided to finish it tonight
its very cute the subtitles are a little more work than
i wanted - because they move fast ...but hearing that much french
i am sure will do me good!

I wanna go back tonight and get 3 more!!!

Back by popular demand ;)

After reading your points on the o-board, I realise this was a bad call on my part. Sorry Steph.

-Kev

P.S. I can't speak for any other mods. But anybody is always welcome to PM me to enquire/contest a moderating descision. As can clearly be seen I do make mistakes. Locking threads is nothing personal, feedback is good :)

Are you using the AOL browser? If so it has known issues with phpBB. Try using Internet Explorer instead.

If you're not using AOL's browser, ignore me.

the sweetest thing was on one of my movie channels the other day...

the jokes were a bit off, but i haven't laughed that much in a long time.  The writers definitely have my compliments... some really funny/amusing lines (and songs!)...

this is the story line of Kissing Jessica Stein:

KISSING JESSICA STEIN is a fresh take on the subject of sex and the single girl. When we first meet Jessica — a sensitive but neurotic New York journalist — she is at the end of her emotional rope. Her brother’s engaged, her best friend’s pregnant, she hasn’t dated in a year, and she can’t sleep.

After an optimistic but nightmarish dating spree, she happens upon an intriguing personal ad, whose only drawback is that it’s in the “women seeking women” section. On a daring whim, she decides to answer it. She meets funky downtown hipster Helen Cooper for drinks and, to her surprise, they click instantly. Their evening of banter, connection and heated debate culminates in a kiss that confounds and intrigues even the reluctant Jessica.

With conventional gender roles absent, the two women proceed to muddle through an earnest, but hilarious courtship, making up the rules as they go along. KISSING JESSICA STEIN is a modern romantic comedy that breaks all the rules — it blurs the lines between friendship and romantic love, and finds the funny, surprising and ultimately poignant overlap between the two.

This is the story line of Amelie:

Amelie is a young Paris waitress who discovers an old box of childhood treasures hidden beneath her apartment floorboards, anonymously returns it to its rightful owner and watches from a distance as his life is transformed by the discovery. Thus begins her odyssey: a series of inventive plans to straighten out other people's lives. Almost as if by magic, Amelie begins to transform the lives of her ordinary neighbors - mostly for the better if they've earned it and occasionally for the worse if they deserve it - but she always hides behind a veil of mystery and anonymity. This works for her until she meets an intriguing young man named Nino. Now the question is: will she have the courage to do for herself what she has done for others?

When it comes to dating, Christina Walters (Cameron Diaz) has a golden rule: avoid searching for Mr. Right and focus on Mr. Right Now. That is until one night at a club when she unexpectedly meets Peter (Thomas Jane), only to see him suddenly disappear the next day. She and her best friend Courtney (Christina Applegate) decide to break the rules and go on a road trip to find him, encountering wild and hilarious misadventures along the way. A romantic comedy without the sugar, The Sweetest Thing is a fresh twist on the search for love.

I have too many late fees on my local account at Blockbuster.....so I went to a different part of the state on a mini vacation and opened up an account there.......... then lost my card somewhere at home. Basically what I have now is two dormant accounts that can't be accessed for completely different reasons. It's really sad.
