I'm so effin' excited!
:D
-
WOO HOO my first nessa show!!!! i started screaming when I saw!!! This is the best day EVER EVER !!!
-
i GUESS I should add that the Exit/In is NOT very big....it will be pretty intimate. Get there EARLY for a table. otherwise you'll be standing all night ..not that I won't be anyways. haha
-
So you've been to the Exit/In? I know where it is because I've been that way by the Parthenon, but I don't remember if I actually saw it. That's what I was hoping for, a nice, small, intimate venue.
I get out of school at 2:30 p.m. and it should be just under a 2-hour drive up 40. Would 4:30 p.m. be a good time to arrive or should I try and go for 3:30 or 1:30, because (if I can get to school on time every other day for the rest of the quarter) I'll still be in good shape to miss a little school.
-
I've been to the Exit/In dozens of times! I would recommend getting there at 4:30. That's probably what time I will get there myself. If not a little before. If you can't get there too early I can always save you a spot. I'm going with 2 friends...if we can snag a close table we'll get an extra chair. Is it just you?
I would say the EXIT/IN wouldn't hold more than 150 people....I can't picture more than that by any means.
-
I'm coming with one other, probably my cousin from Memphis. It just depends on how his schedule goes. I'll plan to be there by 4:30. I would kinda like to be close enuff that I can smell her, because sometimes that's part of the show.
What is their policy on cameras, phones, DSRs and the like?
And also, what are the chances of getting an autograph? I just want to know what to expect because I've never been to see her.
-
The chances of meeting her are GOOD. The venue is small. The artists come in and out of the back, which is plain site. I would say you have a 90% chance if you're timing is good. This is assuming she doesn't do a meet and greet but this really isn't a m&g type place...more of a mingling type atmosphere. But the bus will park right out back where people park.
The earlier you get there the better, as far as seating, anyways. I'm going to get there about 3:45 or 4. It's early but I wanna smell her too lmao. oK NOT REALLY...but I want to be close enough that if I wanted to I could. hah.
-
That's what I was hoping for, which is why I like that she's playing these smaller venues. It just makes the artist more down-to-earth, like I'm used to, rather than distant or high-and-mighty on some 5-foot-high stage in the middle of an arena field, though I have seen many good shows like that.
I get out of school at 2:30. We take lunch at 11:30 and have afternoon break at 1:30. I really ought to stay all day though because I have two absences and I never know when I'm gonna need another one. I'll just have to try to make sure my cousin gets here ASAP, even if he has to miss his English class that ends at 12:50, though he really shouldn't have to because his school is only an hour-twenty from mine, and they're both right off the Interstate.
-
oh about cameras...they've always been allowed before....It's a pretty lax place, so unless Vanessa institues a no camera policy then it should be all good.
-
I have a little table-top tripod I'd planned on bringing so I wouldn't have to use flash photography (which doesn't do well past 14 feet anyway). And I kinda doubt Vanessa would throw such a policy in place so abruptly when she seems to like the camera on her. 8)
-
The closest I've been there is about 4 feet from the stage. haha You could get right up on it if you wanted but then again that wouldn't make for good pictures and might make vanessa a tid bit nervous lol
-
Nah, I wouldn't want to make her nervous. 8) I'm nearsighted with astigmatism, so I shouldn't be too far away.
-
Hey,
I got my tickets and they say showtime of 8pm. I tried calling the venue but it's just a recording. I would rather it be 6 instead of 8 but I bet it's 8. So you might want to keep checking on that.
Natalie
-
Most of her other shows are showing up as 8. I hope it's 8 myself because I want a good reason to be out late. I will keep a check-up on it though.
-
Okay, now I'm looking at arihest.com (http://www.arihest.com/site.html), and they're saying 6 p.m., so now I'm confused. Who's truthing here? It doesn't really matter because there's not much I can do to change the time when I can leave here, unless either I skip school (either partially or completely) or the teacher isn't here (in which case I only have to sign a sheet and then skip).
And now I'm editing to say I'm looking at exitin.com (http://www.exitin.com/aspcalendar/calendar.asp?curDay=7&curMonth=3&curYear=2005&eventType=-1#) and they say 6 PM also. Of course it also says "ALL AGES ID REQUIRED"
Kid: I'm 12.
Usher: Got an ID?
Kid: I'm 12!
Usher: Can ya prove it?
-
arrrg. i would be going to this one, but i'm seeing Pat Metheny in concert the day after and i wouldn't be able to make it back to St. Louis in time. Nashville is like.. 7 hours away..
Amanda
7 hours? That's plenty of time! 8)
-
Right but for some reason the tickets say 8pm that's why I'm confused. I'm bringing my best friends daughters who are 18 and 13 and it IS a school night and with an early 6pm show I'd have them home early, then I buy tickets and they say 8pm. So I'm wondering what's up. The Exit/In like you said says 6pm, Ari's site says 6pm....Maybe the tickets are wrong..I'm hoping!

Do they say 8 or 6
-
Vanessa comes on at 8:00. The opening acts start at 6:00.
-
So you now know this for sure? I still plan to be there at about 4:30, earlier if I can or feel like it. 8) My tickets have been printed, but I'm still waiting for them to arrive.
-
Damn that's a big opening spot. lol. Well shoot I don't want to go so freakin' early and sit through an opening act until 8'o clock. But if I want a good seat/place to stand I guess I will be. All for Nessa lol.
-
At a music festival last year, I eased my way up to the front row to stand right at the rail to watch Robert Earl Keen (who I had not heard of until then, but enjoyed watching nonetheless) just so I could be right on the rail to watch Jerry Lee Lewis, who performed nearly two hours later, greatly delayed by the weather, which was unmerciful that evening - cold, rain, the crowd huddling under plastic tarps that were thrown out from the stage, hypothermia, purple skin - but I much enjoyed the performance! 8) (Later that night I saw Collective Soul while eating a $4 box of noodles :D )
So, basically, if that's what I have to do to have a decent seat, then that's jut what I have to do!
By the way, I got my tickets yesterday afternoon:

I hear you. Whatever I have to do to be in front. I'll do it! The girls I'm taking don't get out of school til 3:45, well home from school. So my other friend is coming to get in line at 4:30 and I'm going to go pick up our friends at 4 and drive back to Nashville, they live like 30 minutes from town...then we'll get back there about 5 with traffic I'm thinking...they won't open the doors til 5:30...I'm thinking....then we just have a mere 2.5 hours til Vanessa lol!!!
-
then we just have a mere 2.5 hours til Vanessa lol!!!
Don't you mean 2½?
-
isn't that what I said? lol
20 days til Vanessa!
-
:!: 14 Days! :D
Turns out my sister is going to miss a couple hours of school to come with my cousin and me too. So I had to order another ticket, but she's paying the full $3.25 processing fee for hers because she could've let me know earlier. My cousin and I are splitting ours.
My ticket.................$21.82
My cousin's ticket.....$21.81
My sister's ticket......$23.44
-
I don't remember how much mine was. Around 20.00. I bought it at the local Kroger lol. They were 15 with like a 4.25 service fee and .80 tax or some crap like that. Oh well it's all worth it for Nessa!
-
Yes, it is worth it for her. On the site, where I bought mine because my only local outlet is completely out of the way for me (plus they told me they were off-sale, wetftm), they are $15, plus a $4.75 convenience charge each, plus a $3.25 processing fee per order, plus like 44¢ tax each ticket, too. Yes, Vanessa's worth it, but I wasn't about to pay for shipping on them on top of all that. I opted for regular mail delivery. 8)
-
Also, if it gets delivered in time, I'll be wearing my Weet-Bix shirt. :D
(https://www.weetbix.com.au/images/buy/t-shirt-f.jpg)
-
he he that's cool. I'll know how to spot you lol. I'm so pumped I can't wait for this show. ahhh.
-
Let's just hope it arrives in time for me to wear it! 8)
I just received word yesterday that my other ticket (I had to order because my sister decided almost last-minute she was going) was printed. I think I'm actually going to use this ticket and let my cousin and sister have the two I already have. It should get here soon as this event is fast-approaching.
And now this from today's Get Out! magazine:

This was on 102.5 The Party's site...
Party for your chance to win!
Vanessa Carlton at the Exit/In
Listen to The Party for your chance to win tickets to see Vanessa Carlton live at the Exit/In on March 10th. Tickets to the all ages show are on sale now, and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
-
Unfortunately, we don't get 102.5 here. The only stations we get out of Nashville are AM 650 WSM, AM 1510 WLAC, and sometimes FM 99.7 WWTN (which I hate because it cuts in on FM 99.7 WMC out of Memphis sometimes - Talk radio should stay on AM!!!
-
I agree lol. Yeah sadly they aren't giving away meet and greets....Oh well I'm still almost positive I'll get to meet her. That place is pretty meet and greet friendly. It's so small!
-
I just wonder how all this is going to work. I wish I could just get away for a day and run up to Nashville to find this place and get an idea of how it's situated and and the size and the atmosphere. I mean, I completely don't know what to expect.
-
You walk in-
Bar is on your right....steps to you left..2 steps maybe and there's a platform and merch table...people stand there to watch shows...if you walk in and go straight there's an open area to sit in. This place is SMALL. The stage sits up about 3 feet from the floor, medium sized stage....that's about all there is too it...very dark, nothing fancy really...I'm surprised she's playing there. But all the same it's going to rock. I talked to 102.5 and they are giving away meet and greets too with tix.
-
they are giving away backstage passes with each tickets!
-
Looks like I have one more coming with me. Mike, a friend of my cousin and me, called me up the night before last and asked how much tickets were. I told him, so he asked me to order another. I did and let him know we'll have to pick it up there at the window because it's too late to be sent on time. We decided to split all costs for the tickets among the four of us, so we're paying $22.36 each.
I've Googled and Googled and I found a few pictures of the place and I was quite surprised to see just how small the place is! Most of the pictures I found of the audience, everyone was standing up having a good time, but you say there are tables?
-
they have about two tables they have out when they have a show there. Sometimes they will bring out more tables depending on the music.
-
And what is the seating like?
-
And what is the seating like?
There is none other than the few tables in the front. Otherwise is standing room. They usually have about 8 tables out.... only the ones towards the back of the lower floor have 2 seats and the ones in the VERY front have 4....
-
So I reckon the rule is arrive early and lay claim?
-
Remember, one of y'all must ask which (and possibly confirm that Annie) is the new single!
No problem. I'm going to be in the studio with Vanessa on 102.5 Thursday. LISTEN IN if you are from around here. I'm getting to ask her a question. Shall this be it???

Well, I'm with you. I know I'll be easy to spot and I'll keep an eye out for you. I'll be with three others: A big dude with blonde hair; a skinny, white-faced boy, and a teenager who looks like she just stepped out of one of those clothing stores at the Galleria.

LMAO ya'll should be easy to spot then. It's so dark in there though lol. I'm going to try and be there by 5:30. Wish me luck and safe speeding .hehe.
-
Thanx! 8) I'm trying to get aholt of all my party right now. Half of them aren't answering, tho. :? Maybe they're busy driving and they'll call me back later. Hopefully not too much later, tho.
-
haha yeah, don't you have to leave soon?? I walked around the block a few times to see if I saw Nessa but alas I did not. I probably wouldn't have bothered anyways, seeing the bus was cool enough. hehe.
-
I am leaving here in 1¼ hours. 8)
-
rockin'..I'm getting ready to dry my hair and get dressed...I have some errands to run before I pick up the rest of my peoples at 4:15. I'm so excited!! Be careful traveling....
-
I always get up (as a rule) 20 minutes before I leave for school. Somehow, I managed to find a towel in the basket, get my clothes together, take a shower, dry off, get dressed, put on d.o., and make sure everything I needed was in my car all in those 20 minutes this morning! Ususally I have to take my shower the night before because 20 minutes is never enuff time for all that, but it was so late when we got in last night.
