all credit goes to "i gotta where shades" (again i'm terrible with everyones real names) who posted this over on the o-board.

The NYC Marathon will be run on November 6, 2005. Not everyone who applies gets to run. There is a lottery system. We'll see if V will get to run on June 15, 2005.
Good luck V!

I checked the entrant data base and Vanessa had a "NO (http://web4.nyrrc.org/cgi-bin/htmlos.cgi/27858.2.097065166134572596)" by her name. How wrong is that?!
Anyway, I think she can still be in the race if she's one of the first 250 to pledge to raise at least $2500 to benefit Team For Kids.

kind of sucks, but she still has a chance to run and raise money for a good cause

I just checked today and it says YES by her name. It says that her team is Z100. So it looks like she is going to run after all!
-
indeed there is a "yes" there now.
very cool

anyone notice that she registered her age as 25? I thought when you registered, you gave your age at that time

I thought when you registered, you gave your age at that time
How do you know she didn't? Is that V's handwriting you see? The database is obviously showing the age of the entrant at the time of the race, which is the only thing that would be relevant if there were some kind of age restraints or categorization.

As a former runner, having run a marathon myself (I know you would never believe it now), you put the age you will be at the time of the race. Like Shades, said there are age categories.

Given the profile of the event and the support Vanessa & Z100 are giving MOC
I'm considering donating all winnings from Melbourne Cup race day to MOC :D
