I left early from school (not on my own choice, but things work out nonetheless) and came home. We took a short nap because we didn't get a lot of sleep Wednesday night and then we got on the road. The first place we stopped was McDonalds because I was really thirsty and Megan hadn't had anything to eat all day and it would be a little over an hour before we made it to the restaurant, let alone get seated and served.
We went shopping at the Farmers Market (again) on Winchester for some cookies and Coke. This is a supermarket with stuff from all over the world: Mexico, South America, Japan, China, Korea, Thailand, and others. My aunt had told me I needed to go, so we went there a few weeks ago when we were in town for the music festival. Among my favourites are Milo, these butter coconut cookies, chocolate-dipped biscuit sticks, UCC canned coffee from Japan (excellent!), and lots of different juices from tamarind to aloe vera! Megan's mother also wanted a case of Mexican Coke.
After we left there, we headed downtown and I parked just off South Main and we took the Trolley up to Union Ave. The place where we were eating is called the Rendezvous, across the street and up the alley from the famous Peabody Hotel. They claim to have the best pork ribs in the world, and for someone who has never really been big on ribs, to say I loved them is a testament. We had their pork barbeque nachos for a starter (excellent!) and two pitchers of Coke (I said I was thirsty!), rolls, beans, coleslaw. It's a very good, very busy place, and I recommend it to anyone who's visiting Memphis. You may have to wait a little while for a table, but you can get drinks upstairs while you're waiting. Fortunately, we were only waiting for fifteen minutes or so.
