Title: Harmonium songbook?
Post by: Moogs21 on May 25, 2005, 09:01:34 pm
So I was just thinking... Since Harmonium is being cut, will there still be a songbook released? I mean, it would make sense that it wouldn't be... right?

Does anyone have an updated information about the songbook since she isn't releasing a second single?

I was thinking the same  thing but I haven't got any information on it. Sorry.

well, i placed my e-mail address on the mailing list for 'Musicnotes.com', and when [and if] they release the book, trust me, i'll let everyone know. but to my disappointment, they haven't sent me anything concerning the HARMONIUM songbook.

Interscope/A&M is no longer promoting Harmonium. I don't think they'd even bother with a song book at this point.

Hey... you've got an excuse to work on your ear training. :)

Though its not too helpful

that's really sad. i honestly feel like crying right now, b/c i think that the songbook is in even higher demand than the album. i would do a transcribsion of WTSHNN [i cooked up the idea yesterday at the piano], but i don't have the software to do that with, much less know how to scan stuff [i.e., pictures] to a post on a forum.

Yeah and Vanessa told me that they it was almost ready and that it would be out VERY soon...so that makes me think they are actually made up..probably sitting in a warehouse somewhere....kinda sucks when we alll want it!

I added it to my wish list as a must-have, not to influence the release, necessarily, but rather because I must have it! :D

well, it seems that these rumors are also going around at the Offical Vanessa Carlton Chat forums. all i have to say is that unless rumors are confirmed or denied, there's really no need to post them, unless the truth comes straight from the horse's mouth. [i.e., Van Carlton]. i mean, Hanson's 'THIS TIME AROUND' didn't do good, yet they released the sheet music for it. so just stay tuned and be patient.

sometimes it could be more or less than a year after the album's released before you see the sheet music. i can list several examples. maybe the publishing company's [Hal-Leonard] could be running behind as of right now. if they released 'Annie', 'Who's To Say', 'Private Radio', and 'White Houses', then i don't think they'll stop there. if they have it, then i'll let you guys know ASAP, b/c i'm on their Mailing List [i.e., Musicnotes.com], i promise. i want the sheet music as much as you guys do. :)
Title: Harmonium songbook?
Post by: Will on May 30, 2005, 04:07:02 pm
I don't doubt we will get the sheet music because Harmonium did badly. I doubt that we will get the sheet music because Interscope/A&M decided that they aren't promoting Harmonium anymore. They're pretty much forgetting Harmonium ever happened and moving on. This doesn't mean that the sheet music isn't coming out, just that it's highly unlikely it is at this point.
Title: Harmonium songbook?
Post by: VanessaPiana on May 30, 2005, 04:49:01 pm
well, let's just hope that they release it if it's the last thing they do for the album. otherwise, i hope that y'all will stop driving everyone crazy with all of these unconfirmed rumors. :?

ok I got this info on the O board

Quote from: "Phu"
i wrote a mail to halleonard.com asking if they really released this one.

the answer:
"It is not out of print, rather it has not yet been printed. We do not have a release date at this time.

Please continue to check the "What's New" page of our website as it will appear there as soon as it is available."

so the release date at amazon is obviously wrong
let's hope, it will be released soon...

i hope their concience will be their guide, also. i hope you gave the the main punchline, which was that Van's fans will promise to make them some money, b/c Lord knows, her Harmonium songbook is in high demand, and that we're goin' crazy tryin' to figure out when it's gonna be released.

Maybe, since on Harmonium it's a hidden track, it's going to be a "hidden pages" or something. Heh...wouldn't that be funny? Find bits and pieces of the song throughout the book? Sort of like drawn out Dramas in MAD magazine. That'd be awesome.
Title: Harmonium songbook?
Post by: VanessaPiana on June 13, 2005, 01:11:51 pm
i sure hope so, not to sound demanding or anything, b/c love that song. it's one of my favorites from Harmonium. i'm gonna be angry if they don't b/c we've all worked very hard to make sure that that book gets released.

but i think you're right though, b/c Alicia Keys' 'Songs in A Minor' has a hidden track at the end, and it's one of the songs in her songbook. but 'How Come You Don't Call Me' was omitted, much to my dismay, b/c it was a covered song, and hence had limited licensing to put the song in the songbook. but since 'The Wreckage' is original, i hope we don't have to worry with that.

I doubt Barnes & Noble will have it. I have bet on it and I have made a commitment. Thank u, thank u. (Sorry for sounding so snobby and rude) Please don't hate me.

I'm still considering buying it, but I'm not sure, from the web previews at musicnotes, doesnt really seem worth it, and the shipping costs to brazil are reeealy not worth it...

I personally don't think it's THAT bad, some songs suck but not all of them.
I dunno I'm appreciative.

...even though i hate the fact that there's only 9 songs to learn, b/c as you all know, the arrangment for 'White Houses' is messed up, and they didn't include 'The Wreckage', which was the hidden track. but Hal-Leonard included Alicia Key's hidden track from her debut album. but they didn't include 'How Come You Don't Call Me', b/c of limited liscensing, [b/c it was done originally by Prince] but it's now available seperately. so i'm not giving up any hope that 'The Wreckage' could be available in the future, even if it's seperately from the HARMONIUM songbook.

What better way to celebrate the end of band camp by having Sheetmusicplus telling me they shipped my order! Should be here within the week! YAY! I desperately want to learn Who's To Say. To people who have the book: Does she hve those eighth notes in the 2nd verse? The " mother dont tell me" part she plays on the piano.

well, wouldn't know, b/c i've only printed out the first page of the song, and i haven't gotten past that point, b/c i don't know whether the transcribsion is inaccurate or not. plus, the song's got a tricky rhthym, and my biggest problem is rhythm, so i've given it up for now. that's one of the song's i'mma put on my demo tape.
