Traveling is one of my favorite things in the world...yes, it pretty much ties with seeing V in concert (yes, shame on me!! oh the horrors!)
I know some of you haven't been able to travel as much as you would like cause of money or your parents...I was just wondering how many and which countries other than your native country have you been to?
I live in the US and I have been to: Belize, Mexico, Guatemala, Canada, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and France. This summer I'm going to: Ecuador again, Peru, Brazil, and Bolivia.

Really good poll idea!!!!
Besides my native US, sadly I've only been to Canada... which wasn't exciting at all. I pray that this Europe trip that's being talked about falls through... I need to experience the world!!!
-

-
just canada. ...that will hopefully be changing in a year and a half though ... i want to study abroad in England (i'm thinking Essex University) and then get a eurail pass to travel europe on my vacations or weekends :-P
-
I've only been to Canada too. I don't have any plans to go anywhere else yet, but if I get the opportunity, I'll go to England, Australia, and New Zealand. I don't really think I'd want to go anywhere else, and it's not because of the language barrier.

Spain
France
Portugal
Corsica (though techinically not a country)
Italy
United States of America
Iceland
Czech Republic
Driven through germany (all i want to do frankly!)

Only Canada, and only for a day.
I'd love to hit Europe at some point, and some of the South American countries, specifically Peru
-
Canada
Mexico
US (of course)
Jamaica
Cayman Islands
-
I've been to Canada and Mexico. The Europeans have an unfair advantage in all this. Their countries are the size of our states, especially out west :-P.
If you count the states I've been to as nations, the number rises to 15.
-
Well yeah, now if you want to include states, I've been to...
Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oiho, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Plus the District of Columbia and Ontario, which aren't states.
-
Well if we are doing states...
34: Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, D.C., West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida
Yes, I told you I am a crazy traveler...
While it is pretty easy to go from country to country if you live in Europe, I think it is easier to go from state to state. Besides, it is much more fun when the next place over speaks a different language and the culture is so different. Which is why I thought countries was an interesting topic. Yes, I technically know you can do this from one neighborhood to the other in just NYC but it is still completely different experience to go to a different country. I think you receive a whole knew perspective on humanity and your entire world view changes.
btw, I sincerely apologize if this seems like I am bragging cause I really don’t mean to be. For me it is just fun to find out where everyone has traveled.

Bah! States don't count people. You've made your federal bed, so you'll lie in it.
Mine: England, Scotland, Wales, France, Belgium, Germany, USA and hopefully Spain soon :-)
-
Bah! States don't count people. You've made your federal bed, so you'll lie in it.
Pfft... blame Locke, Hamilton, Madison, Jefferson, and Jay.
Mine: England, Scotland, Wales, France, Belgium, Germany, USA and hopefully Spain soon :-)
You said states don't count. Well.. then I say England, Scotland, and Wales don't count. You've been in the UK. :-P
FYI: All of the 13 original colonies were originally independent nations after the American Revolution. California and Texas were also independent nations before they joined the US.

It's different. We all hate each other and don't get along, like proper countries.

Okay, if we're counting situations from before we were alive, then at one time there were no borders, so I've been in every country evAr. Go me.

Driven through germany (all i want to do frankly!)

YEAH! Go lie in your bloody federal bed! I absolutely do not think Americans have an excuse- i have been to America as has nearly everyone i know- that took the same amount to get there as the other way round, lol. I just think its about a different attitude- which, fair enough, has been created by living in Europe. I think anyone who hasn't been to another country has to go! Another state just isn't the same, the way the people are, the food you eat, the atmosphere is all completely different in another country. And GREAT!
P.S Scotland and Wales are legally seperate countries, states are not.
-
Granted, neighboring states are usually very similar, and in many aspects, life in Connecticut won't vary much from life in Northern California. The TV carries most of the same shows, the same movies are playing at the cinema, and the same food is being served at the Macca's down the street (although I do understand California has a few regional additions to the menu). What lies under the surface, however, can be enough to give someone real culture shock.
Very consistently, the Deep South (Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia) have ranked at the bottom of desirable places to relocate by people in other parts of the country. Being from the Tennessee/Kentucky area myself, I personally wouldn't have a problem with it, but I can understand why a person from New York would dread even a visit to the area. For one, many of the people have an attitude towards Northerners that can lead to some uncomfortable situations. Life, especially rural life, moves at a much slower pace than the typical urban Northeastern version. Much of the traditional food here would be considered next to inedible by a person off the street in Buffalo or Bridgeport. Even the dialect can be a barrier to people from outside the region.
It's true that the federal relationship the states have has contributed to a greater sense of unity among the people, but one shouldn't expect that to mean that the rules and customs are uniform throughout the nation. What may be considered a common politeness in one state may be taken as a rude intrusion in another. What may be perfectly legal, and even encouraged, in one state could very well be a Class IV felony in another! We generally consider ourselves one nation, but there is also a degree of independence and nationalism felt within each state, and some more than others.

I want to travel like mad...more than almost anything else, that's what I want. So hopefully I'll become EXTREMELY successful in the (very difficult) music business, so I can have the money to afford it.
International tour=Shannon's dream job!
:D

P.S Scotland and Wales are legally seperate countries

go see the world! america is not the world no matter how many states we have!

i think a lot of it depends on money as well. and location. i would love to see the world, but where i live just doesn't offer those kinds of opportunities, unless you really like canada. and it costs much more money than i have to travel a lot.
-

My opinion was reffering to those who don't travel for reasons within them selves, not the ones who would like to but can't afford it..... I understand that not everyone can just fly to Europe when they want
:)
