I move that we Nessaholics set aside a special 'Stevie Nicks' day! :D
.. well, I don't have the power to make a Stevie Nicks Day, but I do have the power to make a thread for her .
Of course we all are grateful to Stevie for taking Vanessa on tour with her and exposing her to a whole new audience, but I think anyone who goes to see V but stays for Stevie will be pretty impressed.
I had no intention of staying for Stevie after Vanessa's set, but I did and her set really blew me away. I was very, very impressed. She has a great stage presence, and really seemed like she was having fun up there.
During one of her songs, Stevie went the entire length of the stage shaking hands and talking to the people in the first few rows while her band played behind her. I thought that was pretty classy and very cool.
Even without knowing most of the songs or lyrics, it was still an extremely enjoyable performance. Her band was awesome, and the video board choreography was very impressive. I'm sure for a fan of Stevie and her music, the show I went to would have been the perfect show.
And just to wrap this up and bring it back to a Vanessa perspective, I think being on tour with Nicks will help V grow as an artist, and will challenge her to give an A+ performance every night because she's opening for someone who is going to bring their A+ performance every night.

Right on! :D

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO STEVIE!!!!!!!
-
I have a Fleetwood Mac CD and her voice is sooo pretty.
-
You're right what you said about her show B. It is perfect lol. That whole walking the stage thing? She does that at every single show during Edge of Seventeen. It's like a ritual (since '81). I've been lucky enough to get up there three times.
I was so glad to hear V was touring with her. I never thought I'd get the chance to see two of my favorite singers in one night.
-
Wow..That ritual has heightened my respect for stevie...
My uncle once told me I should listen to Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks and the next day he gave me a mix of mostly their stuff..Her voice is just so amazing- it envelops me in serenity in a way too few musical artists do..

In that case, I highly recommend Fleetwood Mac's Tusk to you. That contains Stevie's best work with FM imo. Storms and Sara...the two highlights.
Also, if you haven't already, you should buy Stevie's new cd/dvd package Crystal Visions. You can learn a lot about her through watching her videos which she provides commentary throughout.

I love Bella Donna. It's probably in my top 10 CDs ever. And her work with FM is amazing. "Rhiannon" is one of the best songs ever.
-
Thanks equeen1022!I'm checking Tusks out right now through itunes...next time i go into the city, Ill get that dvd/CD...sounds awesome..

I'm not sure how to embed videos on here so I'll just post the link.
This is Edge of Seventeen from the HBO Special in '81. You can see what the Edge walk used to be like in the beginning before things got so strict.

I love Stevie and I'm so happy Vanessa got to tour with her! They really complement each other well.
-
I really like Stevie Nicks, i think she has great vocals and i love her style and stage presence. Rhiannon and Landslide are super to listen to.

Rhiannon and Landslide are super to listen to.
Landslide is probably my favorite Stevie tune of all time. Given the rapore that VC
& Stevie share, is surprising that this thread didn't get more replies while VC was
playing support act... still one of the best live shows I've ever been to in Australia

Everything you just said. Yes, yes, yes and YES.

She is going to release a new record entitled "In Your Dreams" on May 3. The title reminded me instantly of V's record, with the atmosphere she's trying to attain.
-
If you check out the album artwork on amazon, I think the theme is Pretty similar to what V is trying to emulate, very ethereal and mystical. Plus the release dates are not too far apart

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/albumreviews/in-your-dreams-20110427 You can listen to the album in it's entirety. Tis ok. Love the album cover, it does seem like Vanessa is going for the Stevie Vibe.

The sixth track - Moonlight (A Vampire's Dream) It was said that it was inspired from Twilight.
It reminds me of HAWBTW, in a way.
-
that's my favorite track! I am always drawn to anything about moonlight though!
-
It's my first time to listen to Stevie Nicks without any Vanessa Carlton in it. And I instantly like her material. The upbeat songs with the deep lyrics is just perfectly good for me.
