Of all Vanessa songs, which lyric do you love the best?
-
I voted for the OD lyric because it has a resonance far beyond the song itself
-
"She'd do anything to sparkle in his eye"
-
My favorite is "Pretty baby, don't you leave me, I have been saving smiles for you."
-
of the ones in that poll:
"She's been wishing on the stars that shine so bright for answers to questions that will haunt her tonight"
:D
-
I voted for the one that made me tingliest
-
I voted for: "Speeding, into the horizon. Dreaming of a siren..", as I think that these lyrics mean more than people would think. I asked my friend out of curiosity what he thought of the song "The Wreckage", and what he thought it was about. He carelessly replied, "A car crash". In my opinion, this is too obvious for Vanessa, and when I listened to the song over a few times, I think that "The Wreckage" was about suicide. If you care to ask me why, I'll tell you :).
I also think that, surprisingly (everyone has got this), "White Houses" is about when Vanessa lost her virginity. However, if someone could prove me wrong I'd be more than happy to hear your opinions.

Voted same and agreed

Wow, that was a tough one...I wanted to vote for 3!! The Ordinary Day, White Houses, and Wanted lyrics are all close to tied for me. I ended up choosing "As you float the flimsy surface, you should know what lies beneath it" 'cause I think it's not only meaningful, but also very poetic. But "What I gave is yours to keep" is also quite special to me...and Ordinary Day was the reason I started writing my own music--it's THAT inspirational. So yeah. Vanessa's a genius! And a wonderful lyricist. :)
-
Of those, I had to pick "She's been wishing on the stars that shine so bright for answers to questions that will haunt her tonight"
But there's tons of amazing quotes.... the new songs, especially, have some beautiful lyrics.
-
Everyone forgets "divide and conquer." :-P
-
i know right! divide and conquer is so powerful....my favorite lyric wasnt up there, which is
" Love, or something ignites in my veins..."
but i chose the Wanted lyric....
-
I voted for the WH quote, but I have so many that I love, they aren't on the list, though.
"And now the air is getting heavy and boys with guns are getting ready."
"All the constellations shine down on you and me."
"And you say we're too young but maybe you're too old to remember."
And pretty much all of White Houses and The Wreckage.
-
Mine would have to be either
"Boy you swallow truth like honey"
or
"And you say we're too young, but maybe you're too old to remember."
-
well.. I choosed:
maybe you remeber me, what I gave you is yours to keep

I am totally agreed with you!
-
I voted the Ordinary Day lyric, because i like the "divide and conquer" lyrics better.

I thought the lyrics in both of those songs made it abundantly clear that they were about suicide and the loss of a girl's virginity. I'm surprised there are people who don't pick up on that.
I voted for "The Wreckage" lyrics because they were my favorite of the options, but my actual favorites are:
"all i ask is to be able to walk on water"
&
"Mother don’t tell me friends are the ones/that I lose, Cause they’d bleed before you/Sometimes family are the ones you choose”
&
"She’s as fine as dandelions blowin’ in the wind/She’s not thinkin’ she’s listening”
-
my favorite lyrics are:
"The summer dies and it's just moments we have together"
and since i love v quotes, my favorite would be:
"With music, i dont have to be silent"
-
"Makin' my way downton, walkin' fast, faces pass and i'm homebound" is the best
-
i tell me friends, "we promise each other it's till the end"
"A remedy that only love can bring"
-
sorrry for not making this one post:
half a week before the winter has the strongest lyrics
"He sits behind a desk of mahogony, wispers dreams into my ear; though i've given him his empire, he delivers me my fear"
"I carry all the weight of empty promise, as i stand swallowed by the light flickering above the highway, I HOLD MY HEAD AND KNOW THE STREETS ARE MINE TONIGHT"
wow
