Everytime I have used my MP3 player- or digital camera's USB cable,
and am finished with it, I get kicked offline.
I then have to unplug the modem cable, and plug it in again.
Only then I can get back online.
Does anyone know how this is possible,
and maybe what I can do to fix this?

When you unplug the mp3 player or camera, do you unmount the device first?
If you're using Windows, then look for a small green icon on your system tray (the part next to the clock) when your camera or mp3 player are plugged in. Right click on it and choose unplug/eject hardware, select the device you want to unplug from the list and hit "Stop" (or "Unplug/Eject", I forget which). Then click "OK" (or whatever it says) and remove your device when Window's tells you that it's 'safe'.
I don't know if that will help, but it's worth a try.
Edit: I'm presuming that your modem is also attached to the USB bus.

Yeah, everytime I do that, and remove the cable after that, and want to continue online, I get kicked off...

You have an external modem?
Maybe go to the modem company's website and check for updates
:?
I cant really put to logic why the two would be connected with given info

I think maybe she's connecting to the modem via USB rather than Ethernet. Maybe a cat 5 patch cable would fix everything. :)

If her modem is plugged via USB, it might be possible that her mp3 player takes too much power from the USB ports so her modem gets turned off.
Some motherboards (for AMD XP processors) that have a VIA chipset have this problem.
If this is the problem, getting an external USB hub (that's connected to a power outlet) might solve it.

IP over USB is still a horrible hackjob that should be avoided at all cost.

Thanks for replying.. although I still don't know what to do

I think she is actually using a dial up modem, or that was the case for years, did Si finally switch over, no one knows yet.....
And ghis is right its possible its a power issue, but since the effect is when she shuts the device off it seems more like disabling the device is disabling all USB connections
Si i really never disable USB devices, i just power off the cam or MP3 player and unplug it, maybe try just doing it that way rather than from the remove external devices menu

No dial up anymore
I still have no clue what to do, but I'll just reconnect the modem everytime I have used my MP3 player or digital camera
:D

Yeah well i was saying try just unplugging the devices without doing that "safe hardware removal" thing and see if the error still occurs

Ahhhokayyy
I'm sorry. My English still isn't very good
;)
I tried that, but I still got kicked offline after that
I guess I'll have to accept it the way it is
;)
Thank you, anyway!
