I'm way proud of this one.
Your Lullaby
I don't know where you go
When you're alone inside your head
And you seem to hard to reach
And I remember what you said
When I was staring at your face
So far away from me
You said, "Darlin', I'm just waiting
"For the day when I feel free."
Then you sang me a blue lullaby
Under the red September sky
And the hazel of your eyes
Reflected back into the night
While the velvet in your voice
Took me to another time
When our summer skies were golden
And your soul, it seemed so open to me
Well there ain't no light that shines now
But the fire in the hearth
And I watch you from afar
And you seem to fall apart
But you said to me, "Baby,
"Just as long as we sit here
"I can reach inside my heart
"And make the pain disappear."
Then you sang me a blue lullaby
Under the red September sky
And the hazel of your eyes
Reflected back into the night
While the velvet in your voice
Took me to another time
When our summer skies were golden
And your soul, it seemed so open to me
I don't know where you go
When you're alone inside your head
And I don't know what you're dreamin'
While you're sleeping in your bed
All I know is that I pray tonight
That you're thinking about me
'Cause I can't imagine you and I
Living seperately
Then you sang me a blue lullaby
Under the red September sky
And the hazel of your eyes
Reflected back into the night
While the velvet of your voice
Made me almost lose my mind
'Cause I'm still waiting for the day
That babe, you say that you feel free.

loved it! :D

Mmmm
Reminds me of Jessica Harp.
:D
You know,
Memphis?
But oh I like your song.
It also reminds me of Maria Mena too.
But more of Jess.
You're a really good writer.

It reminded me of Jessica Harp too!! I thought that exact thing; maybe a little Dixie Chicks too. I really love the first two lines of your chorus and the chorus is the most repetitive, catchy part of the song usually, so good job on that :)
As a poem I'd say this might not be as solid, but as a song it works great. I saw this on your website before somehow and this song in particular stuck out to me. That tells you something :)

Wow I totally forgot about this thread
Thanks so much for the feedback, girls! It sort of reminded me of Harp, too. I've been slightly obsessed with her and the Wreckers lately, though, so that doesn't surprise me much

I really wish I could turn on the radio and here songs like this.
You'd have to seriously fuck these lyrics up for them to sell in the mainstream. Maybe if you repeatedly spelled A-P-P-L-E or O-R-A-N-G-E in the refrain you could get it played on pop stations and get nominated for a Grammy.
Seriously though, I've seen a few of your songs on here now, and I've loved all of them. Keep writing! 8)

those are really good, i especially like the last lines of the last chorus, ''Cause I'm still waiting for the day
That babe, you say that you feel free.'
have you put it to music? if not I want to!

THANK YOU.
I really appreciate this, coming from you... I respect your opinion. A lot.
Thanks, Milla. :D And of course, Mantha.
