ok i am typing this in hate. i was just reading my YM and i saw this.
LOATHE - VANESSA CARLTON
Everything about her irks me- all her songs sound the same and she has a skeevy older boyfriend. (he's 38, she's 22, eek). Then there's her Michelle Branch complex. We think Vanessa cut her bangs so people would stop confusing the two of them. I'm baffled that people can't remember that Michelle's the one who's not annoying.
NEED I SAY ANYTHING? this is absolutely horrible for vanessa. please write to the magazine expressing your concerns.. as i will. there is a place they always have in the beginning of the mag where they show letters to the editor. maybe a nessaholic might be published if we get enough!
send letters to:

EDIT: sound sophisticated... thanks to limetwister
-
what an idiot she is 22 not 33! goodness :)
-
this was posted on the VCMB, if you send letters, make sure they are not full of 'f*ers, you blah blah blah'...because it may help if you are safisticated.
-
oops nikkee that was actually my mistake lol.. here *edits* but still the she said nessa was the annoying one.. pfft~!
-
go get em!
This is silly. It's their magazine, they can write what they want about who they want. No letter can change how they feel about Vanessa.
-
I already emailed them.It was kind of harsh (my email).but i think they got the messege.
-
changing what they think but i think that it would be good to have letters sent to them. flipping through to the letters section right now there are letters from many readers who were offended by articles published. the intention would not be change their minds but to indicate that some people actually DO like vanessa. if we're always having that view, then i guess the world will continue to think that vanessa is annoying, talentless, and fanless.
-
We have to show them that Vanessa has fans and that she isnt talentless. The YM ppl are like all britney spears type and when someone good comes they say there annyoing.
-
I hate to inform you that a small percentage of people read YM. So, it really doesn't matter what they say.
Alot of people think she is annoying, she is on http://www.amiannoying.com ya know. But why should anyone care about YM? I could see if it was entertainment weekly, I could see an e-mail, but YM? Get real.
-
oh yes i forgot to mention this was part of the article..
LOVE- 50 CENT
Even though at first the only words I could figure out to "In Da Club" were "Go, shorty/it's your birthday," it still became my favorite song. (I know a lot more of the lyrics now!) Thanks to him, I've added "wanksta" (someone who talks big but doesn't have anything to show for it) to my vocabulary. Okay, not really, but if I could pull it off I would.
Now how stupid can a person get?
-
oops nikkee that was actually my mistake lol.. here *edits* but still the she said nessa was the annoying one.. pfft~!
oh ok :)
-
it's all good...all those women who write for teen magazines only write there because they are old alcoholics who want to feel young...
-
Alot of teen-age girls read YM so basicly those girl may think Vanessa is talentless.
-
ok i guess Keith is just waiting till it gets to Entertainment Weekly....
-
Cosmo Girl is a much better magazine anyway.
-
lol at David. what you talking bout? TEEN PEOPLE ROCKS!
-
Cosmo girl is cool.
I'm with Hair on that one.
I am not trying to argue, I just think that it is a waste of time to sit here talking about a little article in magazine, It's not the first time something negative has been said about Vanessa, and probably won't be the last time.
-
ok. and i agree with you but i'm still going to write my letter and i just wanted some other people to know about the article especially if they WANTED to know about it. thanks keith. peace ~skye

Where do you get off even printing something like that. Your editor must have some set of balls over there. # 1 all her songs DO NOT sound the same. If you've ever listened to the album which i doubt you have since you have no class in music genre what-so-ever, you'll notice there is a certain aspect of her music and highs and lows in her music. Songs such as A Thousand Miles and Wanted sound nothing alike, and please, please tell me what Pretty Baby sounds like on the album, cause i'm stumped over here. # 2 So what if her boyfriend is 38, atleast she has someone that knows a lot about the industry and can help her along. # 3 Vanessa Carlton and Michelle Branch are 2 DIFFERENT people, the sooner all of you idiots realize this the better off you'll be. One plays guitar the other one plays piano. They are each two different looking people, and about Vanessa cutting her bangs so what, you people sit there and critique her like you have nothing else better to do with your time. If your really that bored, I can think of a bunch of things you can do that put down people who are more talented than you'll ever be. # 4 In reference to the annoying comment, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I think it was annoying that i actually had to sit there and read that garbage that you printed, or how it's even more annoying how you suck and squander teens into buying your magazine. In closing this letter is my voiced opinion, I stand by everything I have stated above and think you should give Vanessa a lot more credit than you give her, cause the last time I checked, the ratio of musicians who WRITE, SING, and ORCHESTRATE their OWN MUSIC was quite slim
Sincerely
Michael Wassuta

I am writing this letter to YM magazine and it’s editors to voice my discontent with the views voiced and nationally published in your magazine regarding singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton. As an assistant to a contributing editor to one of your major competitors (which I will not affiliate myself with), I must say that this declaration is in extremely poor taste. I find it appalling that the editors of a magazine that is dedicated to promoting self-esteem and poise in teen girls would dedicate their publication to ridiculing an artist who has participated in numerous charitable events, and has also used her talent and image to evoke self worth and confidence to the same young women that your magazine caters to. I hope that for the sake of keeping with the purpose of your magazine, that you will use better discretion in the future. Thanks.
Regards,
David

That's a great point!

Thanks..I tried to sound professional. And I do assist a contributing editor to Cosmo Girl Magazine,(Mark Montano...he does the Cool Room article) and what these magazines write have a big impact on teenagers and they should promote positive messages.

that is really cool! :) you did excellent!
