Cool! 8) I think I have this out in the car. They've been sending it to the house for unknown reasons, but February is the last month I'm getting. I'll check it out on the way home while I'm listening to James Taylor, picking my nose, and spilling food on myself. (That's an inside joke for fans.)

come on now. you totally have a subscription.
-
No, my ladyfriend had a subscription to ym, but when they discontinued that, they replaced the remaining issued with Teen Vogue, but they just kept coming for like a year longer than they should've. Now, finally, they're telling me this is the last issue.

I saw this little article this past weekend at Kroger's. While I applaud Vanessa for not being super-thin like all the other stupid Hollywood starlets who lie through their teeth about starving themselves, she sounded a little boastful. 3 lbs. of muscle sure ain't much. So what? But maybe it's her way of telling these starving girls that they're stupid for what they're doing to themselves, and I couldn't agree more.
-
I don't really understand what she's talking about with the body thing, i mean it's not as if running 40 miles a week would make you morbidly obese...and she DOES look model thin.
*shrugs*
-
No, she means like really model thin. She's saying you have to have some meat on your bones or you won't make it.
-
awesome. thanks for posting. absolutely amazing, wish I could do that.
-
that was awfuly nice of you to do, thanks
-
ahh...no problem peeps :)

She doesn't look model-thin to me. Well, at least she actually has some meat on her bones. I guess the camera adds pounds, as usual.
-
Then I don't see the benefit of running with a camera. Wouldn't it slow you down? I mean, unless you have to take pictures or something... :?

In the actual quotes by Vanessa, she was only talking about bulking up. The statement about the three pounds (which I  laughed  at the first time I read it as well) was made by the author of the article. And, judging by her figure in these pictures, all three of those pounds went into her legs and nowhere else, which, I guess is a considerable amount for just the legs. Plus, those bulky, uber-muscular thighs and calves she's got for this race definately would not pass in the model industry (unless she was a fitness model). :)
Vanessa always has had her nose up in the air a little bit when it comes to girls who do exploitive photo shoots for men's magazines or the really Barbie Doll looking types. It's even evident in her lyrics: "And she's so pretty, and she's so sure/Maybe I'm more clever than a girl like her/The summer's all in bloom" -White Houses
"Boastful" might be a little too strong of a word to describe her though. I don't know, maybe it's because I prefer girls who look like Vanessa as opposed to Tyra Banks or whatever and I think it's funny when someone like Vanessa looks down at these girls who are famous for no reason other than that they look like something produced by Mattel. :)
Also, you have to think about how many times Vanessa probably got told that she wasn't pretty enough to be a young female musician, especially in the pop scene. I think Vanessa's first album came out slightly after Michelle Branch's, but they were pretty close together, and that was at a time when the only young females getting the attention in mainstream pop were girls who looked like Britney and Christina and what-not. I can imagine if that was the case, and Vanessa got told she wasn't pretty enough, that could cause some resentment toward girls who are overly vain. It could also cause her to be prideful of the fact that she did indeed make it as a popular artist and she didn't have to wear a school girl outfit or roll around in the sand in her first video.
"Boastful," maybe. But maybe deservedly so. 8)
-
I remember reading an article talking about an eating disorder of hers that she has, and when I read this article I took it as maybe she dosnt want other girls to go what she went through, of thinking they are fat or whatever. Vanessa deserves to talk about her "rock body"! Shes not super super skinny, and I think shes has the right body, of being a ballet dancer, and a runner, she looks perfect! And its a good role model!

Vanessa is beautiful to me. A record executive told her so one time [she elaborated on 'Dateline NBC' 3 years ago]. But he wanted her to be a sexpot, and she wasn't havin' that, so 'needless to say, she never got a phone call back'. She didn't specify, but it's likely that he put her under the condition that 'if you want a record deal then you'll have to go to bed with me'. And Van just stated very bluntly that 'I'm not here for that'; she only wanted a record deal, b/c it was all about the music for her.

Well if you really wanna be accurate, it should be:
I remember reading an article talking about an eating disorder of hers that she used to have ;)

Ah, yes, leave it to someone who speaks French as a first languange to distinguish preterite from past perfect! :D

Im sorry! Spelling errors, i have to stop multi tasking! had* ;)

Vanessa [and Alicia Keys] would also be a good role models for flat-chested girls. She's proud of it, b/c she doesn't seem the least bit self-concious and insecure about her small chest. I mean, me and her are the same cup size! We're a part of the Itty Bitty Tit Commitee. She said that there was no way in hell that she would get implants, b/c someone suggested it.

HAHA!!
English was my first language in another life, I swear this must be true!! :P

Speaking of Nessa in Teen Vogue, I was reading an old issue (i think with Hilary Duff on the front?) yesterday and in an article about older men and younger girls both she and Michelle Branch were mentioned! It said Michelle had just got married and that Vanessa had been dating SJ for 2 years. Sorry that's sorta off topic x
-
Michelle Branch became a mom this past July, around her 22nd b-day. She's all fat and ugly now.
-
Um. That was sort of uncalled for, not to mention it had nothing to do with anything else.
Michelle is still beautiful.
I suggest YOU have a child and see how gaining 40 pounds, stretch marks, and staying up all night doing breast feedings changes YOUR appearance

So very true. Pregnancy does a number on ANYONE. Grr..that's a bit frustrating. Even though, I'm not even a Michelle fan, at all.

Hardly. She put on a little weight, which is what happens to pregnant women, but she's still just as beautiful, and it's not as if she got fat, just bigger than she was. I think props to her for caring about the health of her and owen instead of being stick like during and after pregnancy, that must be bad for the baby. There's more important things in life than being thin.

We don't want to know how big your boobs are, ok? Keep it to yourself.

Michelle's beautiful. And she's definately not fat. The pictures of her, teddy and owen in people magazine were taken a week (i think) after Owen's birth and you can tell that she had lost most of her weight already.

Without hesitation, I'd take a peck on the cheek from Michelle over a 7-night threesome with any other two girls on the planet. 8)
As far as I'm concerned, she's the prototype of beauty. The real-life Helen of Troy. From the neck up, she's flawless. She'd have to be as heavy as like sixteen Rosie O'Donnells before her weight became an issue.
-
...
-
Well I've had implants 3 times and ass implants twice plus I do 800 situps a day.
So I have the best body.
-
Oh God! I've had the same stuff done too! And I'm a guy! (I hope I have the best body too!) lol
-
Very funny.
-
I thought so.
I guess it's just that if Michelle Branch is fat, then I'm obese.
Just chill on the insults.

Michelle is really beautiful. And I don't know if I'd go as far as you did with the whole threesome thing, I can certainly symphonize. If we both weren't already in committed relationships, it would thrill me to have her hand in public, celebrity aside. :D And I think Michelle (or anyone else for that matter) would probably die before she ever reached 3488 pounds!
-
If you please, can we get back to the subject at hand? And get all of the facts before you pass judgement. If I offended someone who's more full-figured and has given birth, then I apologize. I only said that I don't really find Michelle Branch that attractive, and I never have, even before she had a child [a girl whose name I forgot]. After all, I'm entitled to my opinion.
You are entitled to your opinion but there is a difference between that and just being nasty is all.
-

I don't think even that would detract me as long as the body was still warm.

Recently deceased, morbidly obese Michelle Branch... Somehow that just doesn't sound appealing to me. But then again, how could I know unless it had actually been put in front of me? :?
-
I only said that I don't really find Michelle Branch that attractive.
If that was all you said, you probably wouldn't have gotten that kind of reaction. I probably wouldn't have said anything. I would have thought you were nuts, but I wouldn't have said anything. Calling her "fat and ugly," however, is completely different than "unattractive."
Furthermore, while I found your bluntness amusing, and certainly wasn't angry over your comments (I doubt anyone was), you had to expect counterfire from Michelle fans when you say something like that.
Wouldn't you defend Vanessa if someone made a comment like that about her? I know I would.
You're right, you are entitled to your opinion. But, when you say something like that, you've gotta be ready for some banter. :D

I believe there are a couple of laws in place protecting Michelle from curious people like us.
But, the Supreme Court is getting a few changes. Who knows, maybe some laws will get overturned in the coming years and we'll get to find out for ourselves whether sticking it to the phenomanally overweight corpse of Michelle Branch would be a little over the line for us.
Cross your fingers!
-
Legal or not, that just crosses too many socially-acceptable and moral lines for me. I have to draw the line at "dark clothing from a safe distance with binoculars". 8)
Seriously though, Michelle is not fat or ugly. I think she's quite attractive and has a beautiful smile and eyes. :D And don't forget her hair!
-

I couldn't possibly agree more. Ironically, I believe it was a girl who called her fat and ugly. I find it amusing when guys take heat for only thirsting for pencil thin blondes with huge racks. As far as I can tell, women put that on themselves. Most guys I know don't have taste like that.
I guess you could blame the fashion industry for only using models that look a certain way and then little girls think that's how they are supposed to look, but, then again, who runs the fashion industry?...mostly women and gay guys. :) Someone should inform these poor girls that starve themselves and have eating disorders and stuff that guys don't really care if they're a little thick, so long as they aren't straight-up fat. But that's a health risk anyway.
Michelle = big, dark brown sattlite-dish eyes, a mouth and smile that warms my coddles, and "The Girl I Love Has Long Black Wavy Hair" (title of a Led Zepplin song and one of Michelle's favorite groups on top of that!)
8)

Y'all are NASTY... LOL

You should be careful, that smoked salmon can be dangerous! 8)

Well, it doesn't look like anyone accepted my apology, b/c everyone either responds with corny jokes, immaturity, or sarcasm. I explained my situation and everything, but everyone still attacks me. Just goes to show that you can't please people; so I'mma stop even trying. But it's a'ight, though; the next time I say something offensive, I won't apologize for it, b/c if you're not looking for an apology, then you won't get one. In short, I only aimed my comments at one person, not any and everyone. I don't even know Michelle Branch like that, much less respect her as a musician. That's all I have to say. Peace.

I don't think you said anything worth having to apologize for. I wasn't offended by your comment. Heck, I thought what you said was funny, and I'm a big Michelle fan AND I think she's really gorgeous. :)
When Michelle fans came to her defense (deservedly and expectedly) you should have just let it roll off of your shoulder rather than worrying that you offended anyone. Next time, just joke back if people give you shit. I don't believe people were taking what you said quite as seriously as you seem to think. Like I said, I'm a Michelle fan, and I thought your comment was funny. But I still had to defend her in my own way.
I encourage you to express yourself without the fear of offending people. It's a free country, right? Besides, I don't want to be the only one getting jumped on because I'm not afraid to say what I think despite whether it's popular or not.
-
wow this thread got all silly.

Thank you. I needed that. I should've thought of that back in June when almost everyone was giving me shit about what I thought of Van's photoshoot in JANE Magazine, in both this forum and the official one. But it didn't change how felt about it. Instead of defending myself, I should've told them to take their junk and shove it. [Don't even get me started on that. But I'd rather not bring up old bones.]

I have that hanging on my wall. Yet another addition to my Vanessa shrine! :D
