I'll be waiting for her album to be released because she IS my American Idol this year! ;)

I'll probably buy her album too. Looking forward to seeing her live sometime. I'll probably have a good chance since she's practically my neighbor.
-
I will most definitely buy her album when it is released, no previews or promotion needed! :D

I captured her performance on the Today Show this morning. They interviewed her with Taylor but it was just the usual boring questions so I didn't include it.

Katharine McPhee's Bulimia Battle
Katharine McPhee's Bulimia Battle (from people.aol.com and featured in People's newest issue)
American Idol's Simon Cowell called runner-up Katharine McPhee's voice "the best of the competition." What hardly anyone knew, however, was that she'd risked destroying that voice: She'd struggled with bulimia for five years, and the self-induced vomiting could have taken away her ability to sing.
At her worst point, she was throwing up as many as seven times a day, which is like "putting a sledgehammer to your vocal cords," she tells PEOPLE in its new issue.
Finally, after successfully auditioning for Idol last fall, McPhee, 22, decided to seek help. "When I made it onto American Idol, I knew that food my eating disorder was the one thing really holding me back," she says. "I was bingeing my whole life away for days at a time So when I got on the show, I said, 'You know what? I can do well in this competition. Let me give myself a chance and just get ahold of this thing.' "
With the support of her parents, Peisha, 52, and Daniel, 57, and her actor boyfriend, Nick Cokas, 41, in October McPhee enrolled at Los Angeles's Eating Disorder Center of California, where she spent three months undergoing group and individual therapy, six days a week.
"I knew I had put off going to a treatment center long enough I'd been struggling with bulimia since I was 17," she says. "Growing up in Los Angeles and spending all those years in dance class, I'd been conscious of body image at a young age, and I went through phases of exercising compulsively and starving myself. Food was my crutch; it was how I dealt with emotions and uncomfortable situations."
Finally, her program at the Eating Disorder Center helped her gain control of her relationship with food but it wasn't easy. "I really had to surrender and give up having a free life to do the program, because I'd be there from 9 in the morning until 7 at night. I remember that first night, my dad holding me, crying and saying, 'I don't know why you have to suffer through this, but it's going to be okay.' "
Now, McPhee, whose first single comes out June 27, has dropped 30 lbs. as a result of the "intuitive eating" approach she learned at the center. "I learned that there's no such thing as a bad food," she says. "If you look at a doughnut, people think it's a fattening food why? Because if you eat it you'll get fat? No, you'll get fat if you eat 10 doughnuts."
Although McPhee admits she's still learning to deal with stress "I still bite my nails," she says she's much happier these days. Of getting treatment for her illness, she says, "That's why I say American Idol saved my life, because if I hadn't auditioned I don't think I would have gotten a handle on food."
The part I found interesting about the article was her boyfriend is 41. 8O I guess I'm not that old. What's up with all these good looking singers with these old dudes? LOL

lol, I don't get it either.
but that's horrible about her eating disorder. Why do you think she chose to tell that?publicity? or do you think maybe the magazine found out and asked if she wanted to explain herself.

WTF?!!!
Seriously, what's up with that?!
-
Fourty-one isn't that old, but OK.
I was always for Mandisa, but "Over the Rainbow" was the hands-down best performance on AI that season, and the second best throughout the whole history of the show. Fantasia's "Summertime" was the only better one...
-
Well 41 is pretty old for a 22 year old because he could theoretically be her father. Look at it this way, when she started puberty at say 12 he was 31 already. I'm pretty damn old and I'm not around 40 yet. I'm not complaining that HOT young chicks dig older guys believe me but it still seems weird to me.

Here are a preview of 3 songs from her album thanks to someone from an msn American Idol board I go to.. they are ripped from promosquad.
You guys are gonna be surprised at the style she's going.. especially on Open Toes. That song shocked me at first, but its growing on me. The only one I hate is Each Other.

It's like day and night. I don't really know what to think. All I can say with any certainty is that she hasn't sold her album to me just yet.
-
Open Toes is just 8O!
I don't like it too much for now. I'm not sure what Kat is trying to do by going down this road. :?
Each Other seems to be more interesting, it's a ballad, it suits her better. Sounds a bit Mariah-ish but that's a good thing.
Over It is okay, it's like your typical radio-friendly R&B-ish song.
I'm not sure about the album either, I think I'm gonna need a good listen before thinking of getting it.
C'mon Kat, don't disappoint me! :P

You know you've watched the show dont lie haha just kidding. was she good?

Yeah a lot of people aren't sure either. A lot of the fans at the private msn ai board i go to were like wtf. And as much as I love her i'm gonna have to hear some more songs too before i decide if im gonna get it or not. I bet Taylor's cd is gonna be awesome.
-
one of my Paula friends posted these on the private msn AI board i go to so enjoy
Dangerous - http://www.sendspace.com/file/y46b6k
I Lost You - http://www.sendspace.com/file/r8tn6f
I love Dangerous, but hate I Lost You.
edit again: & if anyone goes to promosquad & comes across a song from a Kat called need you now, its not her.. even tho it sounds freakishly like our kat.
-
I like I Lost You. It's got a R&B Alicia Keys vibe to it. I'm an R&B lover though. Haven't listened to Dangerous yet. Thanks for the post.
-
I'm not crazy about Dangerous but it's okay. I'm getting her album regardless. I already pre-ordered it with the new Norah album.
-
I'll say it again: She hasn't sold this one to me. :?
-
yeah im indifferent on if im gonna buy the album. im kinda bummed i only like a few of the songs cuz i was a huge fan of Kat after i saw her at the rehearsal last season. now im just like eh kind of a fan
-
Her song Love Story is up on her MySpace page. I think it's decent. Her songs seem to be more in the hip hop/R&B realm than I expected. I like it but she definitely should do more ballads though.
-
That's what I'm thinking. Other than that, I still don't know what to think. I just know that I voted for her a few hundred times and I am starting to need to be reminded why. :?
-
^you voted for her cuz she had the best voice in the competition.. duh
Love Story is probably my favorite song now.. over you is my other favorite. im getting used to the style shes going, her songs are growing on me.
-
http://music.aol.com/franchise/firstlisten/katharine-mcphee-new-songs?icid=tues:dl1
I think im gonna buy her album.. or download it. One or the other.
Over It is gonna be the first single. I LOVE that song, but people are comparing it to jojo's too little too late & it kinda reminds me of that song now that i've heard people say that. But whatever, I still love the song.
-
^you voted for her cuz she had the best voice in the competition.. duh
Exactly! She was nice to look at, too, but even if I had to vote based on audio alone, I don't think it would have mattered. She was my favorite singer for so many reasons.
-
Okay, I think "Over It" is growing on me!!
I don't see why it should be compared to JoJo's song.
I loved "Too Little Too Late" but I think Kat's single might be even better.
I'm eager to hear what the album is gonna sound like.
-
she's doing a live video chat tonight at 6pm PST on http://www.katharinemcphee.com
-
you can hear her whole album at vh1.com. Here's the link: http://www.vh1.com/music/hear_music_first
-
ohh i really like most of the songs! im definitely buying it on itunes.
-
ohh i really like most of the songs! im definitely buying it on itunes.
Buy the cd! It's apparently going to be $9.99 at CircuitCity (and probably at Best Buy too)
I've listened to it too and, after the first listen, I was all "meh" about it.
But I've listened to it again and, even if it's not the Kat I was hoping for, it still sounds pretty good.
I may get it too. :)
-
I hate going to best buy cuz it's always so crowded lol plus I have an itunes gift thing so I wanted to use it for her cd.
-
OMG Ordinary World is the most amazing song. I just bought the cd on itunes & wow it's freaking incredible. SO much better than Taylors & I love Taylor lol
Neglected is a good song too, heck they're all amazing! I so wanna see her live again, american idol just wasn't enough.
-
I'm really liking "Over It", "Not Ur Girl" and "Each Other". 8)
-
I captured her on Jay Leno the other night. Here's the link: http://download.yousendit.com/B7FD48B91B704908
-
I saw that performance, it didn't do her justice. I guess they had to replace the bass player last minute & I think something was wrong with the sound.
Hopefully people give her another chance. Over It is an awesome song.

Thank you...but I downloaded it & the audio didn't work for some reason.
