Heaps if people only know Vanessa as the "A Thousand Miles" girl. SO, does anyone have any interesting stories about "converting" people to the wonderful world of VC? I played a new friend "Morning Sting" today and he was really surprised, he loved it!
-
i'm sad. i never managed to convert anyone! but usually i let them hear private radio and afterglow, and they like it. and though they dont like, go crazy about her the way we are, they are willing to admit that she's got good talent :) which i think is a big improvement, cos most people still know of her as the ATM pop princess...

A friend of mine couldn't stand Vanessa beacuse she hated ATM. That was the only song the had heard from Nessa. But i played some of the others songs from BnN like Paradise and Twilight. She really loved them. She also bought Harmonium when it came out.. Conversion Completed;)

I converted my little sister, my sister who is 16. She listens to rap and r&b, and she always used to change the radio station whenever ATM would come on. She said she hated that kind of music, and she would always stay true to usher and eminem. But after harmonium came on, and I put most of the songs into a mix playlist on my computer that always plays, she listens to it. The other day, I found her listening to the exclusive Vanessa playlist. I said "HA!", and I started to dance around. She looked at me and said, "What's your problem?". I just danced my way into the kitchen and ate a celebratory ice cream sandwich.
P.S. My littlest sister, who is 7, loves Vanessa Carlton. I have taught her well from the start. She used to sing A Thousand Miles from her car seat when it used to be on the radio. She was so cute...Mixing all the words up. Hehe.

Eminem is a credible artist, but USHER? Vanessa could kick Usher's ass any day!!!! Unfortunately, I had to hear an Usher live concert DVD playing at work (EzyDVD), and first he has that song about having a child with a woman who he has been cheating on his girlfriend with (Confessions Part 2), and then he has a song about touching some girl's body, with the lyrics "I guarantee you won't get pregnant" or something similar! We've all heard THAT one before, Usher. Ha.[/b]

Yeah, I know what you mean...guys, well at least guys who don't like vanessa carlton, can be such jerks.
My boyfriend now really didn't know who she was at first, when we started dating, but now he listens to her with me...
His mom really hates white houses, but we play it anyway, hoping that one day our good taste in music rubs off on her...
to me usher was played out back in the nineties when he started...
vanessa will never get played out...

She probably hates the "my first time..." part.... mothers, eh? Lol.

One of my friends sort of used to do everything that I did and I burned a few tracks of Harmonium for her and she loved them and now she has both of nessa's albums.

my friend mary thinks that morning sting sounds dizzy

I think it's one of the best songs ever written & your friend needs to see a head doctor. 8O

I converted a friend of a friend with us who hated VC by taking her along to a concert..she was really impressed by VC's stage presence and chops:-)

I think [Morning Sting is] one of the best songs ever written
Very true. I adore that song. It's what I use to convert people, lol. I've tried and tried to convert my boyfriend.... he does have "Who's To Say" on his computer, so that's a good sign. But he says he likes my own music so much more, which is very flattering, but also makes me confused because I look up to Nessa's music so much...

i made my boyfriend into a fan =)
not as big as me of course, but i made him a mix cd of all of the best songs and i've caught him listening to it when im not around =)

Awesome.
HOWEVER,
ask them to actually BUY the albums, coz it's great if they like Vanessa's music, but it's still ripping her off as an artist if they only have burnt copies or mp3s.
I do burn CDs to find out if I like them, which isn't technically legal, but if I do like them I make sure to buy a legit copy. I am a musician and plan to make CDs, so I'm looking at it from the perspective of the artist. Know what I mean?

I had a female friend who new who Vanessa was, knew that I liked her. She told me she loved "White Houses", so she asked me to play the CD in the car. I played it, and she fell in love with "Who's to Say". I'm pretty sure she started liking a lot of Vanessa's other songs, too.

"Sometimes the hardest and the right things are the same"
did vanessa say that?

I got my friend into Vanessa Carlton.
After "White Houses" accidentally came up on Launch, I loved it. And so I told her about the song and we just got into her together.

no, those are lyrics to a song called... all at once by the fray
she may have said it, but its also a popular song by them :)
-
Yeah, that's The Fray.
-
I like it. It does sound like something Nessa would write though... it sounds like something she would say at a concert to introduce "Who's To Say" :)
-
i happen to love the fray...
not as much as nessa, but still, they are a really good band. their music sometimes reminds me of her, like the song how to save a life...wow...
reminds me of who's to say...
