Title: Which Video Is The Best?
Post by: imm4n on July 09, 2006, 04:14:46 am
Hi Hi there NessaFans ...okay, first of all, I'm working on my college projects in "VIDEO SHOOTING & PRODUCTION" lesson.  And I've must choose 3 video music whether it's local or international that's suits what I am best. And I have to analyze, preview all of the videos and do a presentation about the videos in fron of my lectures and friend. And for that, I've chose these videos: You & I Both (Jason Mraz), For You I Will (Teddy Geiger) and White Houses (Vanessa Carlton).
And why I'm posting this message? Because right now, I'm kind of confused, I like White Houses, especially when Vanessa's spinning on near end of the video, but I also like Pretty Baby and Ordinary Day. Those two I've mentioned, are great in concepts and cinematography.

So, ... plesae tell me what's in your mind? What Vanessa's video I have to choose? White Houses, Pretty Baby or Ordinary Day?

I now I should've chose it by myself, but hearing third parties comment doesn't wrong either right?

Well, if I'm reading it correctly, you have to chose a video that best describes you best? Just look at each song and pick out which is more personal to you....sorry if this doesn't help.....

White Houses is a brilliant video (Sophie Muller's the best), but ATM might be a more reasonable choice because of how they had to film it. (e.g. the piano having to be digitally edited in because it was too heavy; they had to use a block of wood instead). But all of Nessa's videos have pretty original concepts, except for Pretty Baby. OK then.

hmmm hard to pick just one but like Ryou-Neko said, ATM would be a good choice. The "moving" piano concept is really amazing and White Houses would be good too so... just pick between the 2.

I like OD too, the video is just like this fantasy thing that is so sweet and cutesy.

The PB video kinda creeps me out in the end but all in all, its a good video.

i think pretty baby would be best for this.
more to talk about, because vanessa actually does things in the video...
you know... instead of just dancing the whole time.

"White Houses"

The simplicity of the video is what makes it what it is. It's an amazing video

I thought they took all the stuff out of the piano then they did the video...

They did lol.

It wasn't a real piano, it was just a wooden one that's all.

I would say "White Houses" for sure. It's very symbolic, with the 2 Vanessas, and the style of dancing. While ATM was undoubtedly a good clip, I think it has been overplayed somewhat. I think WH is deeper too. If you used PB it's have to be the uncensored version, I reckon, otherwise it's just cutesy, without the stalker undertones of the song. As for OD, I'm not too fond of it, but if you are, go for it.

Eh. I heard that it was just a block of wood, but okay.

I love Ordinary Day too, but hands down for ATM, I think it is soooo original.  Who else but Vanessa to roll around town playing piano, so kewl!  8)

Well, thanx for all of your comments and arguments there ... but before it, I just wanted to tell you guys, I've done with my presentation, and here's the video I choose:

Jason Mraz : You & I Both
Vanessa Carlton : Pretty Baby
Natalie Imbruglia : Wrong Impression

And guess what ... my lecturer said interesting things :

Lecture (Mr. Bonar) : "Jason Mraz video is unique, had a great concept, funny and at the same time heart-breaking to watch at some scenes. Vanessa Carlton video is really great. She's tracing all the memories with her boyfriend in every place in the house. Quite light video but different from others video I've seen. The great point is, the ending part of Vanessa's song is like a climax, and the scene where she goes up to 'torture' her boyfriend ... I can't say much about that, ... such a great idea. As for Natalie Imbruglia, she's not doing anything meant, except posing for the camera and riding her bicycle, but the director really understand Natalie's personality. Natalie's expression really catch by the camera. When I saw it, I just think that 'This is how Natalie really are'.

Wasn't that great? Vanessa's video is having a positive comments. What' makes me really proud is, my lecturer is also a music video director in my country (Indonesia). My friends also like it, and ... thanx for you guys also ...

Well, I just realize near the end, that Teddy's music video somehow, doesn't fit me ... the song is good, but ... the video ... it doesn't leave deep impression to me ...

I would go with Sigur Rós' Glósoli, it's such a beautiful video, you have to watch it.
