Nessaholics seem to love talking/arguing (nicely, lol) about this, so I made a poll...
-
I voted "Yes, but it's not all I listen to."
:)
-
I would really say I fall somewhere between the second and third options, because I'm kinda into some pop, but I mainly listen to rock & roll, so I went ahead and selected the third option. 8)
-
It's not all I listen :D
-
yea, but there's much more to love out there :!:
-
That's a very broad term. I'll put it this way: I like intelligent, different, but still fun pop. 'My Love' by Justin Timberlake, 'Ring the Alarm' by Beyonce, 'Morris Brown' by Outkast. I bought Pink's album 'I'm Not Dead', and Prince's '3121', if you could consider him pop. And Gwen Stefani. I love her. Anybody who's slightly gay loves her.

pop music is ok sometimes but other than that I dont like it I used to but I am more rock & alternative now. I hate when they say Vanessa is pop. Pop is like lip syincing and dancing and skini no talanted people. Vanessa plays music and does not dance well aside from like ballet but thats not no sell out stuff

Pop is short for "popular", which is why a lot of people would categorize Nessa's music as pop.
-
I thought pop was short for popular too
-
I like a few pop artists.
-
I agree there's a negative connotation associated with the word "pop..." I think the word is actually taking on a different meaning and "alternative" is replacing the genre label of many popular, yet less fluffy/cheesy, songs.

Yeah, I agree. "Pop" does have a negative connotation because of all the manufactured music that is associated with the term. I like the sound of "Alt Pop". Is that what we need?
-
i agree Alt-Pop would be better so you dont get that automatic sound of the song before you hear it
-
yeah...its alryte. But some artists can be annoyingly repetitive.
-
For some reason a lot of pop music that I used to like is starting to sound really cheesy to me. For me, right now, it's all about the voice. You can have great music that's still nice to listen to, but a cheesy voice/lyrics can really bring the song down.. or up.

Can V really be classified as pop right now??? I never thought she was, not after harmonium...I always thought she was more piano alternative, since many paino alternative bands sound like her...
-
Other than Vanessa, Michelle Branch, Stacie Orrico, Ashlee Simpson, and Natasha Bedingfield, I don't really listen to pop... Unless we count J-Pop, which then I listen to Utada Hikaru all the time.
-
yeah, i was gonna say that I didnt think V was pop...really.

What bands are you talking about?
-
I dont really mean in voice, but in sound, i've always found some bands( on certain songs or most) to remind me of her, like Keane( like their song a bad dream or hamburg song) or the fray.. etc...
