I was looking for some pictures of V for this thing when I stumbled across a little snippet of a song by V called Just The Thing... it is DEFINATLEY her singing it and it sounds a lot like Private Radio.... the site says that it is from 2002 and it sounds like the vocals V used on BNN.... Wonder if it was really a whole song( maybe it is the first version of Private Radio?) Anyway, I think it sounds cool and here's the link.... it's at the very top...

thats so fuckin awesome! like an old school private radio!
-
great discovery!
so private radio was an old re-used song from the BNN days, interesting. Well, private radio sounds much better than "just the thing, just the thing...".
-
so is that like jus a snippet of the song...i wonder if theres more...
but its soooo cool thanks pyhom101...
could someone make it downloadable?
-
check the download thread ;)
edit: it's the first link of my post there
-
^^ thanks clarice.... :D

sweet

The guitar part sounded cool and then it faded out :(
I wish Private Radio had the guitar part...
I hope there is more guitar on her new album, as long as it doesn't distract from Vanessa's piano... although I do doubt it, she seems to be getting more and more 'pop'.....
-
wow, that's awesome!!
can someone contact that web site and see if they have a longer version??
we need to do everything we can to make sure there isn't more of this...
edit:
lyrics (wuthout the da-da-da-, da-da-da-, da-da-da-da-da-da-'s):
--Just the thing
Just the thing
And you can't describe it
You get excited
You can't deny it
Just the thing
Just the thing
Feelin' good and oh so right and--
-
Thanks for the download... yeah I hope there is more to it than that.... I can't belive I found it :D
-
interesting find. i'm very glad it got turned into private radio and became a good song, coz those lyrics aren't very good.
-
Very creative, and I love her voice, but yeah, the lyrics are rather crude. :)
-
Sounds cool. Thanks

You can download the mp3 from this link:

It's beautiful, but Private Radio is way better! :D

I know, I love the part at the end of this clip... I hope we see some more of V's rock side on the new album :D

Y'know, that song actually sounds pretty good; not commercial album material, though. It sounds more like a demo to me. I always wondered what was the name of the song that didn't make BNN that I saw on one of her videos on AOL Search, which was 'the making of BNN'. So Private Radio is the recycled version of this song... sorry, but I prefer Private Radio better.
-
sorry, but I prefer Private Radio better.
who are you apologising to? most people in this thread have said they prefer private radio anyway...

yeah, I like PR much more than this... :)
-
I actually like this better than the Harmonium Private Radio.
...it sounds more "creepy", one of Vanessa's "Vanessa dark" songs.
I think the beat is better. it sounds a little bit faster, which I always like.
I also love how she does the da-da-da da-da-da da-da-da-da-da-da, like how she performed Private Radio live.
listening to Private Radio from Harmonium, then listening to 'just the thing'
only confirms how freakin awesome the fastness of this clip is.
It always bugged me a little bit how most of the songs on Harmonium were played slower than how Vanessa normally plays them live.
I've always preferred it when she plays things fast.
-
the beat sounds a lot like the Carnival beat.... and I really like this song.. I think this would be a really good comerical
you can't describe it
you get excited
you can't deny it.... I LOVE IT
I like PR better tho. I don't particularly enjoy the end the feelin right
oh so fine
that part

I guess some people take things too seriously. Anyway, it sounds good, but I like PR better. It's just more professional-sounding.
-
Wow. I like the piano, guitar and drums better in this than Private Radio. But I agree, the lyrics are way worse. haha
-
maybe they were her "working lyrics"
many songwriters use any words to write the melody part, and then scrap those words and use better, more thought-out lyrics later, once the tune etc. is down-pat...

yea, when I watched it I was pretty convinced that those were scrap lyrics. Otherwise, yea... pretty bad.
-
wow.. that's so cooooooooooooool
-
i'm glad that the version on the album made it there.

When you watched it? I'm guessing your media player has some kind of cool visualization on it?
-
It's pretty obvious it's a demo of some kind; the vocals have a shaky, one-pass feel to them. Makes me even more impressed by where SJ/VC went with it. Seems like they knew they had lightning in a bottle there.
