IT'S BACK! This was fairly successful the last time (http://forums.nessaholics.com/viewtopic.php?t=8242) we did it, so I figured we'd do it again! :)

Here's the deal...

There will be 4 brackets of 16 bands/artists each...64 in all. This will basically be run like the NCAA Tournament, except I don't care about RPI, stregnth of schedule, or any other random statistic, and YOU get to decide who wins :wink:.

The bands in the tournament were seperated into a top 32 (1-8 seeds) and bottom 32 (9-16 seeds). The top 32 bands/artists were ranked by number of posts in threads, popularity, and randomness. The bottom 32 were chosen by overall thread popularity, notoriety, and general relation to the board. Seeding for 9-16's were assigned by a random drawing.

For the first round you will vote on two brackets this week (All Is Well Bracket & Best Behavior Bracket) and two next week (Heroes & Thieves, Hands On Me Bracket). Each voting session will last one week begining on Sunday at 12:00am and ending the following Saturday at 11:59pm (central time, since I'm running this :razz:). This will continue each week until we get all the way down to the final two (Survivor from the AIW/BB Bracket side against Winner from the H&T/HOM Bracket side) and crown a NESSAholics.com Forums Champion.

Your job is to vote in this thread for each artist battle. This is your chance to decide which band/artist is second banana to Vanessa Carlton on this board, so choose wisely. :wink:

There are only six rules:

1. You must have at least 100 posts to vote. This will keep out the ringers. Last time we had a few too many ringers, so we just want to make sure the vote is valid in that people who actually post here regularly get to choose the winner.

2. In the event of a tie, there will be an online dice roll to specify a winner.

2a. In the event of a tie in the finals, the round will be extended in 24 hour intervals until the tie is broken and a winner can be declared.  If that process goes on too long, we reserve the right to change this rule and make a better one. We will burn that bridge when we get there.

3. You can change your vote at any time before voting closes, but not after voting closes.

4. If you would like to pass on a battle because you are torn or don't know who to pick, just say PASS. It's ok :).

5. Have fun, damnit! :)

... oh, and yes, I do realize I screwed up the organization on the brackets. It doesn't matter. The seedings were random and arbitrary anyway, so it isn't a big deal. Plus we already started. :)

Well, it was bound to happen eventually with somebody.  I just wanted them both to get a
little higher than this. I love them both so much.  They both are really good with melodies, intrigue
me with their lyrics, soothe me with their voices (not to mention that they're both very beautiful
to look at).  But how do I choose between the two, especially this early in the contest?  You know, I
was really hoping I could put this off till later, or that maybe one would get voted out beforehand
and it wouldn't be my fault because I did everything I could.  And it doesn't help that it's so
close between the two of them so far, because if I vote for the one who wins, it'll probably be my
fault the other one lost, or if I don't vote at all it'll certainly be my fault.  Crap.  Okay.  I'll vote now.

Overtime, great!  So, it would be a 24-hour overtime period in which more people could vote, effectively extending the seven days to eight.  (Of course, people who have already voted couldn't vote again.)  If at the end of the eighth day, there is a winner, then there is a winner, but if there is still a tie (even if both artists received votes during the eighth day), then would it go for a ninth day?  And what about after that?  Sudden death, perhaps?  The first artist to receive a vote after the first 216 hours of voting automatically wins?

I'm just throwing out suggestions.  But I think it should be ironed out before the final round begins.  The competition seems to be hot in a few places.
