how did everyone else like college

its different for everyone.
but i'll tell ya its awkward the first few days... just get to know people and try to find true friends, although it might take you a few weeks to figure out whos who :p
college is amazing if you have good friends there.
if not, then it'll suck

yeah me too. my mom says college is wonderful and etc but i'm nervous. i'm going to the university of connecticut, but my brother goes there and he's older and has a car so he can drive me back home which is good i guess. idk. i'm just shy, and uconn is huge, so i feel like i will have a hard time opening up...

The college I went to is more of a commuter college so I didn't have the dorm experience, but the general feeling I get from people who did is that if you have good friends/roommates it is an awesome experience, if not it will kind of suck, especially if you are farther from home and your home friends.
The best advice I can give about college is just be yourself. It is a whole different world than high school, which I was very happy about :lol:.

I feel the same as Q :D I was incredibly nervous going into the experience, but now I love it and don't want to leave. Just be sure to be as open as you can and get involved in a club or two - or some other activity. On a big campus like that, that's probably one of the best ways to get to know people. You'll be just fine, it just takes a bit of adjusting.

feeling nervous is fine. just remember to be yourself and be nice to others. if you're nice to them and they aren't to you, then they're not worth wasting more of your time. just look for other nicer people there and make friends. :D
joining clubs is a great way to meet people. I haven't joined any clubs but I go around and stay where they (club members) stay so I still got to meet a lot of people.

It's all right...just make good friends, and study...but not so much you're not having fun. Find the balance for you.
Dorm rooms are interesting...and can get messy on the weekends...but if you have good people living around you, the experience is great. It's all what you make it. Find an organization that seems interesting, and you'll have a good year.
I can't promise that you'll love it, but it should be fine.

As terrible as that sounds, just consider that I actually did earn my B.S. and my M.S. and am currently working on my Ph.D.

yeahhhhhh, I am considering the whole Ph.D. thing. But the more I think about it, the more I want to poke myself in the eye.

Let me introduce you to the Turkey Dump. Most of these girls who have boyfriends back at home don't realize that long distance relationships suck. They will realize this in a few weeks. When they go home for Thanksgiving, about 50% will dump their boyfriends and they'll be eligible once again.

my dorm is new and nice. my brother's dorm is crappy. but mine is nice. and most of my classes are pretty nearby. i like the dorm

Tricia is...I'm not.
I am working on my BA. However, my BA is pretty much useless...so I will at least have to get my masters or go to law school...if I get my masters, I might just get my doctorate, so I can be a professor...but that's quite a long ways away.

I'm applying to a masters program as I speak. Probably gonna go for a PhD. It would qualify me for an academic position as well as give me more freedom as to what I do in the private sector.

hey PhD people!!
I am starting my PhD exactly next week, which is sooooo fast, I want more vacation... And the position is is in a different university than where I got my BSc and MSc so I will be going somewhere completely new and so I can sort of relate to the OP.
But anywho, what PhD disciplines are roaming about here?? I am doing my PhD in astrophysics. Going to study the Spiderweb Galaxy. Sounds cool, doesn't it :D

My PhD project concerns Borrelia burgdorferi, the causitve agent of Lyme Disease.

Girls always have boyfriends, rather they be 1000 miles away, haven't seen the guy in a year, or it is just the bum that sits next to the dumpster around the corner they had sex with last weekend. :wink: :lol:

I remember when I was a freshman this boy who was friends with my circle of girlfriends tried to go out with each of us- we all rejected him except the evil girl he finally ended up with for over a year. I don't remember who he tried to hit on first because we all recalled it later, but I remember sitting in his room watching TV with him and a few other people like the first or 2nd week of school and he scooted really close to me and it must have sucked when I was like, "Oh, my boyfriend is driving down to visit me tonight." LOL It was true, too.

LOL, yeah. I was over stating it for effect. :) I'm sure he was fine, he found evil girl eventually. :) I remember, when I was actually trying, girls could select from any number of long distance relationships as boyfreinds. :wink:
You definantly can't walk around the bar and hit on every girl where they can all see you doing it. That is one of the major rules of engagement. They will all start turning you down. It is one thing if they know you and you are a hot item, but another if they are all women who don't know you at all.
The best thing is to make the best out of one situatiuon and let word spread about how you are a cool guy. You want to find the one girl who will think you are basically a cool person and make a good impression. It doesn't have to come to anything deep. You just want to make the best impression you can. After that, you won't have any problems finding a girl to go on a date with.

sometimes i hate college. i am in the middle of writing my paper about hamlet. it's 4:30 in the morning and i don't think i'll be done any time soon :evil:

College women get really horny. If all else fails wait for mid-term break or a three day weekend. All the chicks who are as busy as you are will be mega horny and on the prowl by then. Many might just hang out at the university and that is when all that extracurricular flirting pays off.
Human beings are more complicated then this, but just a few pointers is all I'm saying.
