Sorry if i am completely off. I'm not very good at figuring out lyrics.
Cradling stones
Hold fire bright
As crickets call out
To the moonlight
And as you lean in
To steal a kiss
I'll never need more than this.
We all share the pain
of our histories
but the ache goes away
if you could see
This night under stars
well i call it peace
if you say ill never need more than this
And the trees grow so thick
you can barely see through
and the forest bestows
all the simplest of truths
and you think you'll be happy
grantedone more wish.
but the truth is,
you'll never need more,
you'll never need more ,
you'll never need more than this.
Want some much in this life
There's so much to be
we sail through our youth
so impatiently
until we see
that the years move along
and soldiers and heroes come home
and they carry a song dont <<<????
Live and forgotten times
may this always remind
you of the sea under the skies
you looking back <<<<?????
lets make this our story
lets live in the glory
time it fades away precious as a song
cuz someday we'll be gone.
A craddling stones <<<<????
hold fire bright.
as we watch the glow
of the morning light
someday our bones heavy will lie.
and so we sing.
As the years move along
and soldiers and heroes come home
and they carry a song
lets make this our story
lets live in the glory
time it fades away precious as a song
cuz someday we'll be gone.
Thats what i got from the song. see what you can fix cuz some parts i really didnt get.
-
I love this song.
-
me tooo...its my new fav :D
-
Looks pretty spot on to me. There are only a few things that I'm hearing differently:

To steal a kiss
I'll never need more than this.

small addition
I think it is: don't live in forgotten times

I added the if before "granted one more wish"
I hear glass and "hear they" too so i think those are correct.

Thanks for the lyrics. They're great.

I hope this is a single so we can see her with an orchestra and a chorus..... .. that would probably be the best thing I ever see (SO FAR) from vanessa!
-
Haven't heard it yet, but I like these lyrics. Very pretty.
-
Oh my gosh, probably the best song in the album! Has anyone heard Victor barking at the last few seconds of the song? It's pretty cute. good way to end the album! lol :)

ohh i know!! that is sooo cute!!!
-
this song has an amazing message and i can't believe she was able to catch the idea and turn it into such a lyrical masterpiece.
-
ya this song is soo beautiful.
Lyrically my favorite line is :
Someday our bones heavy will lie. i find it soo creepy...but i love it.lol
-
i need this sheet music as quickly as possible. it is life or death.
i wish i could just walk up to vanessa and congratulate her for this song. it's a masterpiece.
-
Agree with all the positiveness about this song.
I totally blew me away the first time.
And even though masterpiece is a big word I almost want to use it.
-
I think it's
May this always remind
You of the sea and of the skies

Blue looking glass... get it?
the sea under the skies....
i don't think this song completely sank into me yet, because it's just so powerful..
I need more time to let it all sink in.
this song is way too amazing for me...
sooooooooooooo emo
ahhhh, Vanessa, why do you have to be so amazing!?
:x this song is too good! lol
-
oooo i think your right about the blue looking glass.. :D
-
I feel like the song has disconnects. Idk, it doesn't exactly stick together that well for me. It's not one of the songs I can automatically remember easily. It's like each part is it's own song almost. It needs time to grow for me.
-
This is my favorite VC song so far.
-
I just listened to More Than This and at the very end of the song, and little Victor makes a shout out and barks lol
-
My dogs always bark when victor does in the song.
Question... Is that a harpsicord or a harmonium at the end of the song?

hmm good questions...ive never heard what a harmoniu=m sounds like, so id have to say its a harpsicord.
-
I think I know what a harmonium sounds like... so i guess its a harpischord...
-
I'm pretty sure it's not a harmonium. Harmoniums have more of a resonating sound, almost as if more than one note is being played at once. They are neat. They usually have a bit of a deeper sound than what you hear on More Than This too, from what I've heard of them.

Yeah, I think it's a harpischord.
-
Just heard it for the first time (well, not really 'cause I just heard it repeatedly...) and it's definately one of my favs. Great new album (although personaly I really don't think any album will ever replace "Be not Nobody"!!!).
-
(I really didnt want to make another thread for this discussion... and hopefully people will read this)...
But I was wondering, do you think "More than this" was one of the 6 tracks she submitted for the Chronicles of Narnia musical...
The lyrics sound a bit like it in that context and also the "Lets make it our story..."part sounds very musical-ish...
-
A harmonium sounds very airy, almost like a flute.
-
My fave, definitely. Anyone working on sheet music?

SOMEBODY!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

i need this sheet music as quickly as possible. it is life or death.
i wish i could just walk up to vanessa and congratulate her for this song. it's a masterpiece.
I'm working on learning it by ear. I've already found out the key and the intro for the right hand. It's pretty tough, seeing as how I've never learned a song by ear before except for "Home", but that's pretty straightforward.

I'm not an expert on any instruments, but from what I've seen of the harmonium, more than one note does play at the same time.
For an example that may not be correct: Say you play middle C. The C an octave higher would be played automatically as well. If you want, I can study into that a bit more...
