Vanessa Carlton will be at MTV's TRL in Times Square on Monday, October 15th. We want to invite her biggest fans to be in the audience to support her. To request tickets email trlcasting@mtvstaff.com with "Vanessa Tix" in the subject. Please include your name, age, location, phone, and number of tickets. Must be ages 16-24 and be in the NYC area on October 15th. The show will tape at 11:30am.

I knooow, guh. The problem is is that I skipped my Economics class today because I didn't study for the test that we had today, and the class meets again on monday, and now I'm stuck going as a result since I skipped today. I PICKED THE WORST DAY TO SKIP. Oh man. I'm kicking myself. lol

I watched a show about Australia and how these horrible spiders will go into people's pools, and will kill them if they swim in them and not notice the spider. And all this other scary shit about other venomous animals.

Those pesky dingos. lol Australia has nothing on where my family is from, haha. My family is originally from Mozambique, which is right across from Madagascar in Africa, it used to be a Portuguese colony before the communist coup de'tat, etc. etc (My family were white colonists going back 10 generations if you're curious). Anyways, my mother's told me that green mambas (really poisonous scary snakes), would hide in trees, and fall on people as they walked under the trees and would attack them.

Haha! That is so odd that they require you to be younger than 25. I wouldn't fit the requirement either...provided I could get myself to NYC from Gainesville which is just not going to happen.
I'm not an extreme old nessaholic but I didn't know that V knows you so well that she would remember your age. Wow, that's awesome to know her so well!! Jealous. :oops:

It is apparently taped. It's being taped tomorrow and is being aired on Wednesday from what I understand. Waking up at 4am to get there and trying to get through the rush into the city eek. So yeah, when you see me on there, keep in mind that I had to get up at 4 am. I'm really excited, will let you all know how it goes tomorrow night, really late when I get back to buffalo. I'm at home right now in Binghamton for the night... :D :D :D

TRL has always been rigged. Fans of my favorite group protested outside mtv during TRL one day because we know the voting system is rigged. We were calling sooo much, but they got so sick of us calling so they took it off the damn countdown lol. even had one of the singers try to call in the show but they didn't want the audience at home to know what was going on because they know its true that the show is rigged! sorry I hate TRL. No matter how many times we vote her video probably wont even get on cuz all they play is damn hip-hop now or rock groups with whiny voices.

It really pisses me off that they still call it TRL & actually say they are live (I saw the beginning today)...that is a blatant lie! It started as simply "Total Request" and wasn't live back then. Why can't they just do that again? God, it's annoying.

i always thought it was rigged because i'm registered at mtv.com [which you have to be to vote] and whenever i've voted, it's never given me a prompt to write a comment, yet there's always comments on the screen when they play the videos? although recently i've noticed there aren't any comments, so maybe they realized people were figuring it out.
mtv in general has gone down the shithole. now all they play are marathons of shows that never aired on their network to begin with like america's next top model and so you think you can dance.
the only show mtv has going for it right now is the hills. and when the hills is your only redeemable programming, you know you're in trouble.

ha yeah..if i remember correctly she brought a cart (like the rolley kind people have out on the streets or something like that) of popsickles for the whole audience & surprised them. she said carson knew she was coming, but he acted surprised.
then she ended up in the hospital like the next day or something for exhaustion & everyone thought her appearance on TRL was really weird. i dont remember why people went crazy over it, but you can probably find it on youtube, just type "mariah trl breakdown" or something lol

It was soooo lame. My boyfriend and I were laughing the entire time. You could tell Vanessa didn't want to be there, and Damien was kind of mocking her and being a total jerk the whole time. I love the fact that they already had the top 10 picked out 2 days in advance. It's ridiculous. I already knew I hated TRL but man, I lost any respect that I still had left for it. Also, they already had the videos picked out for Wednesday and they did an actual live show for yesterday AFTER they taped Wednesdays show. Come on. It's Total Request LAME. I already knew this though. V was trying so hard to actually relay some quality information when Damien was asking questions but he just kept trying to crack stupid jokes. I felt so bad for her. She didn't perform, just an interview and the premiere of the video. So yeah, when you guys watch it tomorrow, feel free to laugh at me and my boyfriend because we were being dumb and laughing the entire time because of how insanely ridiculous it was. In any case it was nice to see her, she looked gorgeous.

On the contrary... I lived in the United Arab Emirates for almost my entire life and am now studyin in India... and then I recently found another NESSAholic (Journey_to) who lives there(the UAE)... so she may just get a chance to watch that commercial.:P.
And in the Nolita Fairytale on the radio thread I've already posted this ,Nolita Fairytale was played quiet often on one of the popular radio stations there...

haha i noticed this too. she was such a trooper. it's great that she's getting promotion, but you could tell she wasn't taking TRL seriously. which is good. and she did bring a little bit of substance to an otherwise unsubstantial show.

I used to think Damien was a cool host/guy in general. Although I thought it was sad how he finds Emo/punk rock as his favorite genre of music. I've seen the change in him ever since TRL started sucking, which was probably partly his fault and the fault of the format of music on TRL. He started cracking stupid jokes, and everything he said seemed "hollywood." When I watch MTV I think "Where's the real music?" I am truly disappointed in Damien even though I haven't watched the episode with Vanessa on TRL. I'm glad that Vanessa still tried to make something of her interview. She deserves more than how Damien and MTV treats her. MTV's probably angry that she told everyone white houses and pretty baby is banned, but booty is all over the place on TRL. I hope MTV goes down the drain!

Yeah, too bad damien was pretty much a jerk. But they did spend a pretty good amount of time with her :)
And I didn't really get to say hi, when she left I did wave and she waved and smiled but there really was no time for me to do so. They're pretty strict about things. It sucked. Met her plenty of times though so it's fine.

haha, apparently there's MTV everywhere now. We all had that look on our faces when she was recording it, and then she made a comment to us like, "no we're not in Arabia" because none of us knew what was going on... so when we heard her say that we all were like what the heck is she talking about? Haha. It was humorous.
I do kinda feel like V might have been offended that that was the only one they asked her to do. C'mon, how many fans does she really have in "Arabia"???
MTV is everywhere and has been everywhere for a LONG time. There is even MTV Africa. I wish Americans would realise the extent of the cultural imperialism that is going on!
Oh and what was he hinting at about Irv Gotti? Confirming my suspicions that they are going out!!

My favorite part of the interview was where the host asked her what the "take away my record deal" line meant. My fiance was watching with me, and we just looked at each other and started cracking up.
I would have loved it if Vanessa had kept a straight face and said "It means take away my record deal, go on, I don't need it." Is there really that much subtext there?

And I didn't really get to say hi, when she left I did wave and she waved and smiled but there really was no time for me to do so. They're pretty strict about things. It sucked. Met her plenty of times though so it's fine.

I'm sure MTV Arabia broadcasts to places such as Dubai, which is a huge commercial metropolis now. It annoys me that when people think of the Middle East they just think of Iraq, Iran and people living in caves. They're not as backward as you think they are.

Iran isn't an arab country at all, Iranians are indo-european, they're not arab. But people are really ignorant and don't realize that, thus I made the statement about people not knowing anything and lumping everything together. And you'd be surprised as to how many people think arab people live in caves, my family is from Africa and people ask if my family used to live in straw huts CONSTANTLY, there are cities in Africa with skyscrapers, and people don't even realize that. People also ask if I'm adopted because I'm white, it's pretty sad/funny.
But MTV Arabia may very well broadcast to Iran, I dunno. Anyone in Iran that could tell us? lol

Meh, I just think of "Arabia" as a reference to anyone who speaks Arabic - What else would you call them? They spread on 3 continents .. but they speak the same language ... it's better than Middle Eastern don't you think? I find that Middle Eastern makes no sense .. maybe it's just me.
Iranians don't speak Arabic. Many countries in the African continent sa Egypt and Libya do .. Tunisia Morocco also do .. Gulf countries such as The U.A.E and Saudi ..
So Arabic people are Arabians.
I think I heard that a U.A.E based group won the license over a Saudi based group .. they will have offices in Dubai and Cairo, and will also open up offices in Beirut and Jordan. Lebanon is the capital of cool let me say.
This group has it satelittes sending all over the Arabic speaking countries above.
There's already a HUGE Arabic music scene .. it's massive .. and has a kajillion music stations for Arabic singers .. apparently this new MTV will introduce hip hop and fusion sthg.
I suppose it can't hurt to have another music television station :-)

We have here MTV ,too.
They send MTV Cirbs, Pimp my ride... all in english with subtitle. Sometimes you must see it twice. On time to read the fast subtitle and the second time to see the movie. :?
