only students at the college????
-
I don't know. I am trying to look up stuff to see if thats the deal or not. I am sure we will know once its closer to the show date.
-
same info, different link:

-
oh my god. i don't care if it's students only. i am so going. i will find a way, don't doubt me!
-
i called and they were very persistant on the fact that it is students and alumni ONLY. but still, i will find a way!!!!!!
-
my boyfriend and i are going. just so happens we're seeing third eye blind in sayreville, nj the night before. and my bf knows enough people at rutgers to be able to get us tickets. and $10? word.
-
any idea if it's reserved seating or general admission? i just want to know if i need to be at the school to harass a student to buy one for me the second the go on sale tomorrow morning, or if i can just go whenever i feel like it...
-
no clue.. i know just as much as those pages told me. lol
-
when the show date gets closer there will be more info.
-
i wish i never heard about this show because it has caused me nothing but stress and tears all day. i've been up since 8am trying to work this out and you have no idea the HELL it has been. they will not sell me a ticket. tomorrow, i am going to drive the 2 hours up to the school in hopes that some kind soul will get a ticket for me with their school ID. and that's going to be harder than i thought, because i can't find some guy and bat my eye lashes, because it is a fucking ALL GIRLS SCHOOL. i just found that out when i made my friend call and say her UNCLE graduated from there. ahhhhh. this sucks so bad. i've already called too many times and told too many lies and i can't call anymore. if anyone reading this knows a student or a graduate from there and would be willing to help me out, i will be at your mercy.

awww man. Jeeze I would be more mad than you! oh jeeze it turns out to be an all girl school.
-
its in maryland! NO! be in California!
-
it's in new jersey...
-
Cant believe only women can buy tickets... that is so sexist. Some female poster has to pose as a Douglass alumna and buy 4 tickets by calling that phone number and then sell them on here. Men can go to the show but only alumnae can buy tickets.
-
got my tickets! section LEFT row G! now 7th row is probably the furthest i've ever been from her lol... but i'm happy just to be going because i was so scared i wasn't gonna get tickets at all. i'm sooooooo excited to see my nessaaaaaaa eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
-
how'd you get tickets? trying to figure out what i have to do.. did you have to get a student to get them? did you buy them on campus? or can you buy them online? etc. thank you.
-
My cousin is a student at the Livingston Campus, so she bought them for me this morning. Up until today only the Douglass Campus was allowed to buy them. I'm pretty sure you have to go in person cuz that's what they told me when i called.
-
hmm.. so now other people can buy them?
thanks
-
Christine is going
-
who's that?
-
Oh, me.
-
...why are you talking about yourself in the third person?
-
I am practicing for when I am a pro-athlete
-
awesome. where are your seats?
i dunno if everyone can buy them now, or if it's just rutgers students... worth a try i guess.
-
Pretty crappy...center, row M
-
isn't there general admission?
-
Printed on my ticket a section row and seat...so I'm going with NO
-
it is definitely reserved seating. your seats are good though. you are 10th row cuz center stars with row C, and they skip row I.
here is a seating chart:
http://www.yhpa.org/nicholas_3price_seats.jpg
the seating chart makes pretty much every seat look way worse than it is though. the place looks soooo small and intimate! look at this pic:

oooh yeah that is better than I thought....thanks. I didn't see the seating chart online....that's what I get for only looking at official RU sites.

no g.a. is no good.. (woot, double negatives)
-
no g.a. is no good.. (woot, double negatives)
agreed. but no nessa at all is even worse!
-
that is true.
my bf talked to his contact at rutgers - going to try to get us some tickets.
-
okay.. got my tickets for this show. if anyone is interested in going to this show, i have two extra tickets.. we're just selling them at face value, $10. i know it's a bitch to get them, so if you wanted to go to this show and couldn't find someone to buy you tickets, we've got 2 we're gladly selling to help people out. just pm me please. :)
-
where are your seats?
-
i don't know.. i haven't seen the tickets yet. my boyfriend's friend bought them for us. his girlfriend goes to the school. i'll ask my boyfriend and try to find out by tomorrow.
for $10 though, where ever they are, i'm sure it's worth it.
-
okay.. so i don't have specifics, but the guy that bought them for us, said his girlfriend said that they're pretty good seats. that's all i can give you. i dunno.. my stance is, they're better seats than not going at all. lol.

This exclusivity is ridiculous. No wonder VC is tanking in the market.

This is a concert in celebration of 90 years of Douglass College (which doesn't really exist anymore except as a form of residence but that is another issue all together.)
Point is it's not supposed to be a promo tour for V, that's just the benefit she gets for doing any appearance. Instead it's a gift for the students (she was chosen by them --kinda) and alumni that will kick start their week of celebration.
-
sooo.. anyone interested? last chance. we're leaving soon.
-
I would so LOVE to go...but I can't. If it had just been on a Friday or Saturday instead of Thursday! Thanks for getting extra tix, though. I hope some Nessaholic gets to use them!
-
i am soooooooo excited!!!
-
ok this date seems to have been taken off her website and her myspace. i hope it's because it's a student event and not really a public one. if it's cancelled i will cry!

Your points are totally valid. And now that I have taken a step back, I totally understand that and see that my initial reaction was inappropriate :) Thanks for being a voice of reason. I hope the show is enjoyed by those students and they get to share it with us.

ok i need to go to bed, but i'll post a little review. she was in a good mood, and she mentioned that the crowd was much better than the crowd at the red cross event she did yesterday, which was full of uptight, conservative, old homophobes who were on pills, and did not pay attention to her. (her words, not mine haha.) and she hopes that there were not any press people in attendance because she's always getting in trouble for her big mouth, hahaha. love her. tonight's venue was pretty small, and just full of college students who were attentive, but didn't really seem to know many songs. everyone seemed to enjoy her performance though, OBVI, i mean she IS amazing and all. her new guitar guys' name is mark, and i didn't know that yet because i haven't seen her since she had skye steele. this might not be in exact order, but i'll try to remember the set list:
nolita fairytale (sound was TERRIBLE, she had to keep pausing and covering her ears)
hands on me (she stopped in the middle because loud noises kept coming out of the speakers, and then left the stage for like 10 minutes while they fixed it.)
hands on me (again, full song this time)
heroes & thieves
white houses
my best (she said this is the only song on the album that is a lie, because she discovered that trying to be the best version of herself with this person ended up not being possible.)
ordinary day (i think she said this was the 2nd song she ever wrote. and she remembers playing it at a small cafe in milford and completely not hitting the high note, and being mortified. and she said they made her change the divide & conquer lyrics on her album because of september 11th, but she will always sing it the original way now.)
who's to say
half a week before the winter
the one (she mentioned how she might not be here playing live right now if it weren't for stevie nicks. and she said this song might be a lie too, because she believes that there are multiple "ones.")
fools like me ("this song is true.")
a thousand miles
home
encore: more than this
it was a great show. she made me cry many times, as always, haha. i know it's weird, but i always feel like a proud parent when she does the piano solo at the end of home, and everyone goes nuts. it makes me so proud to love her. i met ordinaryday6 and her friends, and everyone who hung around got to take pix with vanessa afterwards. that's pretty much it. show #42. can't wait till the next one. goodnight!

Daily Targum (http://media.www.dailytargum.com/media/storage/paper168/news/2008/04/04/PageOne/Musician.Heralds.90th.Birthday-3303455.shtml) cover story.
-
very cool!
-
great, great show. my first vanessa show ever. ridiculous as that is. but she was adorable, and amazing, and the setlist was great.. i don't really know what she plays at shows cuz she doesn't play many, and i've never been to one. but i was hoping for fools like me, home, more than this, and like, private radio. but nicole said she never plays private radio (nice to meet you guys by the way. :))
anyway, i felt really bad for her about the whole sound problems, because her "brain was melted" and she had to leave the stage during her SINGLE. which sucks ASS. and it wasn't her fault at all.. but people probably thought it was. but the dean just got done saying how there's 2300 people at the school. and they can't have a decent sound system? the techs looked moronic also.
anyway.. the show was amazing. she sounded great, and i loved her banter between songs, and the instrumental intros to the songs. great show all around. plus we met her afterwards (after a lot of bullshit), and she was real cool and adorable.
great time. this was basically one of the best weekends ever? third eye blind show, then vanessa show the next day. holy crap!
-
Thanks Guys for sharing! I love hearing more about the songs.
-
i found a vid of atm on youtube. i mean, it's better than nothing.. i wish someone had gotten vids of all the songs, or at least audio. my friend gail's memory card was full.. :(

Thanks. It sounds like she's saying "Making my way down down"
-
lol it kinda does
-
Thanks. It sounds like she's saying "Making my way down down"
Someone made a thread on that some time ago, at first I thought it was ridiculous, but after hearing several performances of A Thousand Miles, it does sound like she's saying 'down down' every time.
-
Don't think these have been posted. If so, forgive me.

i havent ben around here muh lately..
been busyy..
but does she alwys sing it as Lets Live in our story. at the end?
or did she just do that this time?
-
Thanks for these! I was wondering how it all went.
The piano + guitar combination is my favourite, especially for "White Houses".
And I like her little screw-up on "More than This". At least it still makes sense, not like "Don't make this our story" that she's done a few times.
-
a little bit of Who's To Say
http://youtube.com/watch?v=MT36hpk2x-Q
-
Love the way these sound with the piano and guitar! WH and Who's to Say sound amazing!
-
they do sound amazing. it sounds like she's slowed down White Houses.
-
I figured out some of the intro to white houses:
Duno the left hand./.
B4, A#4, G#4, F#4, D#4, B3, C#4, D#4, C#4, B3, B3
-
I'm pretty sure the left hand plays the same as she does in the chorus.
That's how I play it anyway and it sounds fine.
