I don't think V was under the impression video would make its way in raw
form onto Youtube! Even her '"umm"s became contageous. Noteworthy...

1) TOURING

2) MALAYSIA

3) APRIL

Insignificant for anyone in the U.S, but certainly not the case 'down under'!

Dates on her official site indicate a window of opportunity April 6th to 24th

Peace

Aaron

Yeah i agree that she was rude here.
It's clear she hates PRing, but coming across as thinking she is better than the system which is essentially used to communicate with fans and potential music lovers is dangerous.

I don't think it was so much the fact she was sick of interviews/attempting to me rude... as she was just ox-ing out (if that's a term only used here, in other words, a word for fucked up, with emphasis on the 'zoning out' of being fucked up hahaha..).

yeah, it was really kinda pathetic how she was acting. and what was worse was that had she been a good sport about it, it could have been a really good interview. the reporter was asking good questions.

Quote
Vanessa Carlton sings songs about unicorns and true love and time passing and shit and it totally hits me right in the snickers. I love that shit! But what i love even more is seeing Vanessa Carlton spaced out when some amateur chick interviews her. Girlfriend has been hitting bongs with Charlize Theron. Girl looks like she wants to kill herself and stab the interviewer whenever she does PR. i'd pay $20 to see her stab Vanessa Minialnaollao in the face.

hahahahah i'd pay 20 as well

so rude.
fucking disappointing at her behavior.
I always ADMIRE her for her friendliness, but this is... Does she know that now she is a C-level singer and these interviews are important. How will people think when they see her behavior like that? Even I and some other fans dislike it.
This is the 1st interview of her that I can't stand, with all the "Ums" and sitting back when the other girl had to sit straight and stretch the mic to Vanessa.

Poor the interviewer. She did a good job with a horrible and rude-behaved singer.

hmm i guess we would have to be in V's shoes. You cannot be happy, positive and polite all the time esp. when you are doing shows, and whatever else she is doing. It isnt like she is like this all the time.

um, it's true that she isn't like this all the time, though it would be much better if she was polite 'cause being polite is not hard. Even the TRL appearance was better than this. She was clearly unhappy, but not rude.

Anyone knows what she has been doing lately? Why doesn't she give a damn about her fans anymore??! Jewel is updating her board more often than ever, Michelle Branch keeps her fans warm with new messages every month. I'm being jealous.

Her response in regards to Irv was interesting, in the past her eyes would always light up and she'd gush over the connection she made with him, etc. And this time we get, "Irv... um... hrm... he's... yeaaahhh... um, erm, he's great. Yeah. *Forced smile*" There's a lot to read in between the lines with this interview, especially when she distanced herself from the Murder Inc. name by referring to it as an "imprint of Universal", which is true, but her choice of words was odd.

And wtf at her appearance, I don't care if you're doing an interview for a middle school news program run by 12 year olds, PUT A FUCKING COMB THROUGH YOUR HAIR BEFORE YOU GO ON CAMERA.

I feel pretty bad for the interviewer, granted she sucked - but Vanessa wasn't helping to make the circumstances any less awkward, Vanessa can be a bitch from time to time but goddamn. lol Someone took their carnation instant bitch that morning.

Well, I'm not surprised. With the Hands On Me video we got a low budget video (albiet with great editing), that focused on Vanessa squirming in a bed with shots of her crotch and being undressed. Granted this approach may have been the brain child of Marc and Vanessa, but it was an obvious attempt to draw attention through sex appeal, which is something we haven't seen from her before.

And after Vanessa put herself in that position, which I'm sure involved Irv's input, what has the result been? It hasn't paid off, because the Inc. isn't putting any muscle behind her. At this point I highly doubt we'll see a third single, I mean, there was a disconcerting tone with Vanessa about even TOURING in the summer, there was a hint of uncertainty and frustration that was really obvious when she discussed it. If we may not even get a tour, what's going to make us think anything else is going to be done with this record? H&T hasn't sold well enough to garner further promotion efforts (Even though ironically there hasn't been much in terms of promotion to begin with).

This is Harmonium all over again. And it's obvious Vanessa's attention has been focused not on her music but on other things as of late since she's mentioning other art projects and fucking stationary. And I wonder whyyy, it's because the Inc's dropped the ball.

But the Inc's in a tight situation, Irv's comeback hasn't gone as smoothly as people there would've liked I'm sure, and as a result of that Vanessa's been lost among the tides of the label's struggle. Heh. Ultimately I think Vanessa made a poor decision in getting involved with a struggling label that has other priorities besides her. And it doesn't help that she's signed on to a HIP-HOP label who's marketing team has no idea how to market Vanessa since they're accustomed to marketing rap and r&b artists, these people know the ropes and are extremely familiar with one specific genre and scene, and Vanessa doesn't fit into that. I mean, these people got her a major spread on GIANT magazine, which is cool and all, but that magazine caters towards a more urban market. What about SPIN, or Rolling Stone, you know, marketing her towards a demographic that's more apt to pick up on her music. No, we get GIANT fucking magazine.

Anyways, sorry for all the edits, but I kept thinking of things to say after I edited my post each time, lol.

Absolutely, you can tell she's beggining to be  almost forced to steer off from H and T and into (for lack of better term) plan B which seems to be designing.  And that's not to say she's given up on her album because I don't think she has, I think she is just realizing this isn't the support or promotion she expected when she signed with The INC. Let's be honest has ANYONE here in the states even seen HOM on the major music television channels, I don't think so. I get the feeling she is exploring her options beyond Irv Gotti. And if she is trying to break away how will she "severe ties" with this man whom she has raved about for the past year.  Sad we can't seem to find people in this industry who really support and appreciate her music the way we do.

Well, I genuinely think Irv loves Vanessa's music and supports her, but I'm sure their business relationship has invoked a lot of strain since things haven't gone so well. There's always a struggle between being a music lover and being business savvy when you're involved in the music industry. In the end, money talks.

Why does using sex appeal constitute as selling out. Sex is used to sell everything, even the fucking shampoo you put in your hair. Suggesting that Irv had a hand in using a different marketing approach is different from saying he forced Vanessa to "sell out". :/ If I had meant to say he forced her into a position that consituted as "selling out", I would've said so.

I feel pretty bad for the interviewer, granted she sucked - but Vanessa wasn't helping to make the circumstances any less awkward, Vanessa can be a bitch from time to time but goddamn. lol Someone took their carnation instant bitch that morning.

I did notice how she said "Yeh... he's cool" while referring to Irv, which is a big change from the used-to-be norm... I wonder what happened.

This is a question im not attacking you but are you implying that Irv is trying to get Vanessa to kind of sell out with the sex appeal thing? Also H&T is kind of a flop agreed (becuase it didnt get the promotion)?

Why does using sex appeal constitute as selling out. Sex is used to sell everything, even the fucking shampoo you put in your hair. Suggesting that Irv had a hand in using a different marketing approach is different from saying he forced Vanessa to "sell out". :/

As i said im not attaking you so calm down i just didnt know what you were implying.

I'm so sick of seeing Vanessa's stand offish attitude with the press (pr: promotional interviews etc.) that is necessary in order to promote the album, her music and most importantly to sell herself as an artist. Part of being a musician is playing the media game. Vanessa really has got to get over herself in this sense.

I agree...she's got to get herself together, for the sake of her album and her career...there will be no future in the industry for her if she acts like this...

i'd put more money on her being high or drunk in that interview.

Since the interview was put up on utube on the 21st, i m guessing it was taken around the 17th. I went to her concert on the 20th and she was sick there, so I'm thinking she was sick at the interview too.

I think that vanessa has better judgment and is smart enough not to show up at an interview high, drunk or somethin to that character. And how sad for some of you to think she would.

how sad of you to put her up on this perfect pedestal in which how you see her. People make mistakes, just because she is your favorite singer does not mean she is going to slip up from time to time.

I'm so much more fond of her knowing she makes her mistakes and yeah she gave a half hearted interview but I'm not going to get upset. Serioulsy who hasn't had a day when you don't want to talk to anyone, and V had to sit there and answer questions she's answered a thousand times before ("So how's the Inc., ect) while she wasn't completely herself. I'm still going to admire her even though she didn't run a brush through her hair before the interview.

Just so you all know, i know shes a person, i know she makes mistakes, i have met her, she is a person, she walks in the streets like a normal person, she is very down to earth and hasnt let this celeb thing go to her head, she is nice to people, and doesnt see herself as better tahn others, thats what i have understood after talking to her 3 times.

and she is a person who i very much admire as you can tell, i am sure you have a role model, and like me you may think of them on a high pedestal too, if not, i know its a normal thing that a lot of people do.

I also believe that Vanessa has made mistakes, but i really dont think she was on drugs at that interview, she was sick.

it's things like this that remind me of why i love her (beyond her music) so much lol

and i can't wait for the stationery, she seemed to be able to express her feelings about that pretty well, i thought.

I'm glad that V smokes weed cause I think it's a very relaxing drug..I know she likes to drink as well.....but let's not do it on the job.  This interview really makes her look like she just doesn't give a fuck about anything....I know you can't always be at your best but wow....I watched it feeling like I shouldn't have been able to watch that.

Honestly I wouldn't even consider weed a drug.  None of us know for sure what was going on in this interview, because we are NOT Vanessa.  But just in my opinion....maybe she should have rescheduled or brought herself together before the interview.  I just hope shes ok.

She is trying not to smoke weed anymore she is trying to keep off drugs (she only did them if shes stressed out in the first place), personally i think shes human and people make mistakes she may have been sick or tired.

Oh Gosh, Vanessa let me down!!!!

If I were the interviewer, i'd say

" Enough, maybe other day "
